    general rules:

    1. Don't post here such as " when is it done?" or "very cool" and such praises and replies that absolutely doesn't contribute anything to the lost unit project. Any reply found such as those will be brutally deleted.
    2. If you want to help, post it, but don't spam, I won't just delete your reply, i will also warn you if you spam around in this thread.

    3. Any previous "lost unit" search team member has a full privilege to post anything as long as it's on the subject. They are also fully privileged to claim any reply (old or new) unimportant, and notify me or any moderator to get rid of them regardless who posted or what rank ( i'll happily delete Siblesz' replies as well grin.gif )

    4. Stay on subject and no side tracking to modding an already available unit or request of skins and such. This is the lost unit subject not a " i want a skin thread.


    Any of you don't like my rules and regulations, contact me and i happily let you know that they won't change no matter what. laughing.gif (just kidding, let me know if you got something against it and see what we can work out)

    Seeing as myslef and several others have posted units they have discovered which CA didn't use i have decided to create a thread for all of them. A new woad warrior, a hoplite officer(who i think make a great swordsmen unit) and carthaginian archers have been discovered as well i think. If you discovered them please post the things here so people can use them.

    4) In export_unit copy the libyan spearmen and change the name and wording as you want and have the unit_enums things in the brackets.

    Thracian Hoplites: These units have the top part of their arms missing so if someone can complete the texture they use it'll complete this nice looking unit.

    2) In export_descr_unit copy the hoplite entry change the copied verison so thrace own them and change the soldier to greek_thracian_hoplite and the name to greek thracian hoplites. This saves you adding descriptions of your own.

    Spain is a weak faction, but it seems like the devs had some other units in mind for it, and implementing these does much for game balance. (Historically, Iberian cavalry were not bad by any standard; the Lusitanian horsemen being particularly good.)

    There exists a texture for an indian elephant wearing yellow cloth, maybe it was intended for egypt? It seems to be the egyptian color.

    Model bug: Well, not really a bug, but the howdah (tower) on the elephant's back needs to be taller. And perhaps longer. (Right now it only goes up to knee-hieght, lookin stupid.) :devil

    How to get it: Edit the export _descr_units.txt file. Find these lines, and where it says "mount elephant african", replace with "mount elephant indian". ***Use the find tool (CNTRL + F) to search for greek_elephant_african, carthaginian_elephant_african, merc_elephants, and east_elephant_african***

    Seleucia and Parthia most likely used indian elephants (historically). But there is some debate about Carthaginian elephants. Coins and stele from carthage show elephants being ridden which have concave backs, typical of african elephants. But Livy recorded that Hannibal's personal and favorite elephant was named Syhrus, which means "from Syria." Asian elephants were traded all around the middle east, so it's likely that Carthage, being a major trade city, would buy some Indian ones from time to time to suppliment it's stock. So basically, Hannibal probably employed both types of elephants in his war.

    Also i have found there is a carthaginian skin for scutarii and macedonian skins for hoplites an armoured hoplites, parthian skins for eastern spearmen. There is also a new greek archer skin an peltast skin but i cant find moels for them yet. Ill have another search later, see what i can find.

    Hannibal used forest elephants--as did the Ptolemies when their supply of elephants from India was cut off by the Seleucids. (Livy added a lot of "embellishment" to his writing to entertain the reader...so I would not be too concerned about a name that he probably made up anyway.) Forest elephants still exist and have been proven by DNA testing to be a distinct species from the African elephant--which should have been obvious since there are differences in the structure of the foot and the ivory, etc., as well as size. All of the large elephant types in the game should be Indian elephants. From what I've read the large African savannah elephant was not used militarily.

    redHarvest, i am trying to keep this thread devoted to new unit discoveries. Okay over the weekend i plan to create a download which will add in the following:

    I've got the cavalry unit in game for the britons i think, or something very similar. Vlad, im using the hoplite officer for a swordsmen unit. Sorry redharvest for what i said. If you could send me those skins webbird because they are uber cool i could add them in to the download i am creating. There are older versions of pharaohs bowmen and guard which i will add in .I will also add to the download:
    -Parthia: eastern spearmen, cappadocian cavalry
    -Seleucids: desert infantry
    -Greek Cities: macedonian cavalry.

    and vlad could you tell me the model you used for thse scytian swordsmen.

    Name: Scythian Cataphract horse
    Skin Bugs: legs of horse not textured, belly of horse is black

    How to get it: Open up the export_descr_unit.txt file. Find the Scythian horse unit you wish to have the cataphract skin. Find the "mount" line, and erase what is there, and type "horse cataphract" , minus the quotation marks.
    Don't forget to save before closing. **Theoretically this skin could be applied to any horsed unit, i chose Scythian Nobles for my screenshots.
