    Default Team for Victorian Total War - mod for ETW

    Hey all, as some of you may know, planning has already begun on one of the first mods for ETW. The name is still to be decided, but Victorian: Total War is the commonly used name for the time being.

    However, a mod cant really be made if there isnt a team to do it, and so this thread is to see if there is anybody willing to join the team (would help if you plan on getting Empire TW) and help mod the game. So, if you're willing to help make this mod, and any help is appreciated, then just post here or send me a PM.

    What would the Mod consist of ?

    - Units ?
    - Houses ?
    - Would it be merely changing textures on existing units ?
    - .... ?

    I think it would be changing the units, events, etc.
    but wait until Elzabar posts again...

    Well - you guys have my bid for being one of the skinners for the mod. I would love it. I have tinkered with modeling but on for RTW - I dont own max just live off of the free trials.

    This team will desperately need modelers - for units / ships / and maybe buildings.

    Maybe seperate each into different teams so no one team gets too over-worked and over-tasked to the point they quite. Diseminating work load will be key. Overworking people will stall the mod out so I think mod teams need to be formed within the mod.

    For Instance:

    Naval:
    Researcher (2) / modeler (2) / skinner (2) - one of these team members would then be a team leader of this team.

    Units (Infantry - Cav) : (this will be the largest of the teams) - SAA
    Researchers (as many as we can get - one per faction would be beautiful!)/ modelers (as many as we can get) / skinners (as many as we can get)

    Artillery:
    Same as Naval

    Settlements - special customized citites - were not sure how soon we will be able to do this but maybe something like a two - three man team.

    I havent even touched on coders - I am clueless about this stuff though.

    I KNOW - I KNOW - Organization like this is asking for a logistics nightmare - but if the mod operates off of a small team its going to take a very long time to complete. This mods motto needs to become "Many Hands Make Light the Load!"

    Taxandrius,

    You might want to hold off on posting anything here - I think Elzabar wants to use this mainly as a point of team assembly as opposed to research results and faction lists. Good job though. My suggestion would be to begin a file on your computer thats impecably organized so when the time comes you have it at your fingertips.

    The best way to upload images is to go to imageshack - host it - then copy the link into your posts - its very simple. The picture will show up in the forum - or should

    I apply for the job of researcher:

    I've got some basic and other usefull knowledge about the Napoleonic period (start ?) and the wars in Europe in the 19th century. The Belgian-region history is my speciallity....etc.

    @Solo1906: Thanks for the idea, if my scanner doesn't act weird, the pics would be on soon..

    Ok, so we've got:

    Solo1906: Skinner
    Taxandrius: Researcher
    Col:Researcher? (and EB specialist )
    Archus:Researcher
    I think we also have Black watch42: Researcher

    Seem to be alot of researchers

    Taxandrius, it will (probably) be starting a bit after Napoleonic period, roughly 1830/40-1900.

    PM me guys to say what factions and such you want to research. Like Solo said, hopefully we'll have one man/woman on each faction, now that would be a blessing.

    Heres a good link for uniforms and such, thanks Solo1906 : http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypld...itle_id=269277

    we've got a lot of researchers....
    I'm in for unit research or unique settlement research (if it's possible of course)

    @Elzabar: great link !
    so the game will be 1830/40-1900 ? no problem for research.

    ( I suggest to start a little before 1830 (maybe 1820 or 1815). Like this, we can have the Belgian revolution and the problems before and after it without the "suddenly appearing revolt and losing half of my territories -problem". )

    @Taxandrus,

    Add things like that to an idea folder on your computer everyone else follow suite that way we can add them together present them to the coders and scripters and see what can and cannot be hammered out.

    EVERYONE;
    As far as uniforms go Black Watch made suggestion in the other Victorian thread to have a Early - High and late period. Anyone have any date brackets these periods could be defined by for technology and uniform purposes??????????????????????????

    As far as researchers go - we need a lot more. Having this information is invaluable. Everybody pm Elzabar what you want to specialize in for your research

    ok, Solo !
    Tax's idea's folder...
    Put the new ideas, in a new map, organised in chapter-like points in nice word-docs, maps with pics.........what an idea !

    periods ?
    I suggest: early: revolutionair period: 1825/30 - 1850
    high: imperial and industrial period: 1850-1872
    late: modenising and industrialising: 1872 - 1900

    If you gave me the right files I could edit unit descriptions and send them to you, etc.

    Also if I could research the Great Britain faction that would be good, as I'm British. I can start now if you like, despite the fact ETW is a long way off.
