I have news of Africa and the war against Carthage.
My quaestors Tiberius and Marcus have done outstanding jobs in securing Carthage Proper.
We have had many casualties and victories all around.
The Battle of Lambaesis was not our best day however Quaestor Tiberius has assured me that this town is subdued.
Many romans lost their lives in a land they had not known existed.
The battle of Thapsus was more against the Carthagians and the victory was complete.
Minimal loss of life and the town is currently under siege.
I will provide the senate with a map of Africa as it stands.



In the interest of all parties I believe before my return to Rome that we decide on Carthages' fate.
We could wipe these people off from the face of the world as we know it or come to arrangements with them.
Personally I believe they will be more inclined to listen now that we have conquered their Capital.
This could also bring peace to Africa as we could plea with the Iberians to focus their attention in Gaul.
I await your reply and hope that we may resolve the issue swiftly so that we may focus our attention more freely towards our current problems.

Greetings senators, I stand before you and hope that within the next few days, my comrade, Consul Labienus the younger can return with good news from Africa. I do have one query about the operation though. Who was in fact in control of Lambaesis? Because I have a map suggeting that it wasn't owned, ruled or under the influence of Carthage.

My name is Inachos and I am here under orders of my Satrap of Pergamum.
I have come to ask for Romes help against our enemies.
Rome is a powerful Republic and we of Pergamum have been broiled in war for many years.
We ask for Romes protection against those that do us harm.
Please I beg of you to help us.
Two years ago we were thriving along the coastal plains of Asia but now we have been reduced to just two cities.
One is now under siege and my liege is hiding for his life.
I ask only what he commands and that is for Romes help.

At the moment our rival is Armenia.
They have been a thorn in our side for generations and we come now to Rome to plea for our lives.

We should send help to pergamum in form of money, money that will help them rebuild there kingdom and also enable them to rebuild there trading stations around minor asia.

Aside from money and a duty to protect, a protectorate also causes very close diplomatic ties to be established, if we do our duty they may reward us in ways we can't even imagine. Merely sending money would not be in our interests as it would not cause the proud people of Pergamum to have the ties to us a protectorate would cause.

Further, I formally demand, as Tribune of Plebes, a report which will provide the military figures of the Republic. Lastly, in regard with the Pargamian request of assistance, I propose that we send in Pergamum the sum of 10,000 Denarii in order to raise their military; however, any attepmt to send military help will immidiately face my veto. We are in deep trouble fighting a war in Africa as we are now; we don't need 'new adventures'."

Falco sighs, he so regrets the fact that noone listens to barbarians when they actually have something to say

"Noble Tribune, the man just told us they have enough money, they need men, fighting men. I believe the tribune shouldn't be so quick to refuse military assistance, as the Kingdom of Pergamum is widely known for its richness, they could reward us very well indeed should we help them."

We have lost all men of age in this war.
Pergamum can not withstand the current asault and will soon be known only in her history books.

If they have those large amont of money, why did´t they bribe or make peace
agreement with the King of Armenia?

Tell them to raise an army of mercenaries as Carthage did,
tell them to spend all there money or they surly will lose
there beloved Kingdom to those brute barbarians.

Do you not think we have tried noble senator.
Every trick known to the gods and man.
Their armies are to vast and now we are at a loss.
Unfortunately with the way things are our treasury will be in the hands of our enemy.
How must we raise troops if every army of untrained unequipped men is slaughtered.

Gaius looks at the Pergamian diplomat with disgust, and then looks back at the majority of Senators.

"Have we forgotton about Massilia? Have we forgotton about Carthage? My brother is trapped in Massilia and he could be dead now! But no, a diplomat from some far off Greek kingdom enters our legendary halls and you all ignore the fact that we would have to ship troops across the sea in risk of pirates and rival fleets. It could be months, or even years before we successfully land troops in Pergamum.

Antigonus won't allow us to cross through his territory. The Chremodian League won't promise our fleets safety. No, we are alone in this world. We already have a petty Greek kingdom calling for help. Were I a Tribune, I would veto any motion giving military help to Pergamum. We do not need a war, and we do not want one. When was the last time we had peace? Years. And at this rate we won't have peace for many more years."

I beg of you, Rome, the protector of the weak to help us.
I know not of this Massilia you speak and I am sure you have your priorities.
This is at a huge cost to me and my nation to be asking this of you.
