Default [RS AAR] Legio VII Claudia Pia VII Fidelis VII Paterna

This isn't really an AAR, and I don't think my writing can match the masters here. However, I do keep track of my legions' actions and it's a sort of story-telling. I'm sharing it in the hope that someone thinks it's interesting or it helps them.

Basically I have a peice of paper for each legion as I recruit them. I don't count a legion as being raised until I have a full stack with:
1 Infantry general (hopefully praetor vicarus)
    1 family member
    1 First cohort
    9 legionary cohorts
    4 auxilia missiles
    2 auxilia infantry
    2 cavalry

Then I write down everything the legion does. Where it goes (in what year), who it battles, casualty counts and kill counts, the whole lot. Before, I had trouble keeping track of where legions were--now, that's not an issue, and you can begin to create a 'personality,' so to speak, for the legions.

Here's VII Claudia Pia VII Fedelis VII Paterna as an example. Note: deaths are taken from the legion's size before battle and after battle. That way the men healed are not counted in the death ratio.

Raised in Croton, Bruttium. 526 AUC Summer.
Publius Vettus (family) commands, with Spurius Cincinnatius (praetor vicarus)
    To Sicilia Graecus, 526 winter.
    To Byzacium, 527 summer.
    To Thaspus, 527 summer.
To Mediterranean, near Africa province, 527 winter.
    To Sinus Numidicus, 528 summer.
Spurius Concinnatus dies, natural causes, 529 summer.
Lucius Tullius, praetor vicarus, joins, 529 summer.
    To Mauretania, 529 summer.
    To Tingitana, 529 winter.
Small skirmishes in Tingitana (vs Free), 529 winter. (186 kills, 6 deaths)
    Beseiges Tingi (Carthage), 529 winter.
Battle near Tingi (vs Carthage), 529 winter. (2 kills, 0 deaths)
    To Baetica, 530 summer.
Battle of W. Corduba (Carthage), 530 summer. (724 kills, 165 deaths)
Battle of E. Corduba (Carthage), 530 summer. (479 kills, 208 deaths)
    To Taraconesis, 530 winter.
Beseiges Carthago Nova (Carthage), 530 winter.
Battle for Carthago Nova, 535 summer. (278 kills, 345 deaths). Lucius Tullius slain; CARTHAGO NOVA SACKED.
Julianus Vellius, praetor vicarus, joins, 356 summer.
    To Carpetani, 536 winter.
Battle of E. Carpetani (vs Free), 536 winter. (523 kills, 236 deaths)
To Mediterranean, near Sardinia province, 537 summer.
To Mediterranean, near Sicilia Boreus, 537 winter.

Hope someone enjoys this. It's a lot of work to keep track of it all but it's improved control over my armies and enjoyment considerably. :thumbsup4

This is cool. But boy its a lot of writing! You could make a book.

I did a map for Europe. I put in the legions. Like a I did a flag then the Leg. numbers.

I went to the Staple store to get the sheet protectors. I use the "Vis-a-Vis" for the wet erase. Its nice.

Now that is an idea... I used to use post-it notes on that RTW map with vanilla. Those were the days...

I might do that... I remember seeing a really good Roman-era map somewhere. I may do that indeed...

Cool! I do something like this too, but i think we all do. Its just nice to have a record of all the people you killed and cities you've sacked. Ah, the memories...
