"Senators, as customs dictate, I must make a speech upon Consular elections victory so hear me now. I intent to descent on Sicily as my predecessors and conquer the island for the glory of the Republic, as speedily and as bloodlessly as I am able. When Sicily is Roman, I shall return back to Urbs Eterna, disbanding my army first as law dictates, and then I will dedicate the rest of my office term for economic rebuilding.

I intend to give farm lands and estates to all deserving Roman families, patrician and plebeian, in all of Italy thus bolstering our farming tax income. After this agricultural reform is over, I intend to begin a large network of ports to increase the commercial income.

Marcus, a man that until now had been quiet now raised from hes seat and slowly started to speak in front of his fellow senators;

I would like to like congratulate Decimus Iunius Brutus for being our new Senior Consul and also I must say that I fully agre with the proposal you have been giving us
but I have also a few other request in this mater that I hope the senate would discuss.

I:Ports

I can only speak for my self and I know that I wouldn't like to see these Mercenary lovers take more control over Mare Nostrum.
To prevent this from happening our actions should be thees;

vote for a bigger fleet thats large enough to block major parts of the Phoenician coast line if necessary
and also port improvement in our major Financial city´s as these would enable us to take back the control over the sea.

Ports shall be constructed in fitted areas as for bosting the economy and as a percussion as the Punic naval are geting stronger.

II:Roads

Roads should be build in every city on the Italian main land as this will
allow our army to march faster to wherever they are needed, this will also bost our economy.

I would ask that the market situation in each city be looked at. Perhaps forums for each city would bring more revenue to the Res Publica and more jobs for the plebs.

On the contrary, I feel it is time to sign a peace with Carthage. This cold war has simmered without a shot for years now, and this conflict must be ended so we can finally get back to a sense of normalcy after Sicily is taken.

I have no problems with an expansion of the fleet, let me make that clear. We need to protect our new Tyrrhenian sea.

However, I do not want to see said fleet used in hostile action against Carthage as it will just draw us into another war on the heels of our current one.

We need a Larger fleet to protect our new trade ruts from hostile "peoples".

I propose that this new fleet should be deployed in Capua as the city are our new Naval center. The armada should operate around our naval trade ruts to secure them from any attacks or blockades.
