ty I kinda figuerd that out after I asked the question xD
tanks anyway
Right...me being an idiot I think I might have messed with the vanilla sound files. In my vanilla data/sounds folder, there are now 14 files worth 770mb, incl. voice, voice1,...voice3 dat files.
I tried the fixes, both don't work...I get replies when clicking characters (incl. Generals) on campaign and battle maps, I can hear swords clash etc. in battle, but no music, no end of turn sound etc. Same for Vanilla Kingdoms campaign.
Any ideas? If it's the vanilla files, can anyone email them so I can copy & paste instead of reinstalling for the next 2 hrs?
If such a request is against any rules I apologize of course...
Oh, and I'm playing on XP.

I tried every sound fix, even the last one and there still isn't any sound.
okay I have the files in winrar.. what do I do exactly to get them there..
I have Vista and it seems that the first solution restored music/sound.
If UAC causes problems with your games then try not to install them in the Program Files folder next time as it is heavily protected by UAC. Try installing games and softwere you plan on modifying/modding in a folder like C:\Games\GameName or D:\Games\GameName. The problem originates from the fact that the "Program Files" is created during windows istallation and thus has the "root" user as owner. That is why it keeps complaining when you try to touch it. If you install software in a user-made folder (like C:\Games), it will complain much much less.
Hope this helped...
I have no sounds at all. Menu is mute, campaign map is mute, everything is mute. I find my lack of sounds.... disturbing...
I have Vista, no UAC enabled, tried compatibility modes, those fixes in the op, but nothing works x(
I guess I'll just play without sounds for a while.
HUM but not so fast - I don't have other sounds, just music from Teutonic, which works in battles too.
But the sounds for units, buildings, notices, end of turn stuff, etc., all that's not working.
Tried all fixes at the start of this thread.
For some reason when I re-loaded the game onto my drive, I didn't redo DirectX!! Just figured with all the times I've loaded it on, that I wouldn't need to again. Wrong I was!!
Re-loaded with DirectX - all is well!!
I've tried everything on this thread and nothing works. I have no sound whatsoever. Could somebody perhaps torrent a working copy of this mod, or release a working complete version please?
HEHE: I figured it out!!

Could someone reupload the sound files from the first post? The download link has died for me.
Hi, I just downloaded your awesome mod, the only thing that doesn't work is the sound and I have tried both of your sound fixes and neither of them work. I might be doing something wrong but i'm not sure what. I have windows XP and use the English language version.
If anyone can help i would really appreciate it.
I downloaded Xeryx's PDER_English_Langage_Souns.rar and it fixed my sound problem. Windows 7.
