Am also a vista user, no sound except the spy actions for me.. Tryed both sound fixes (running on the 1.0a version), and running the program as a admin.. But it dosnt fix it for me either.

I'm in the same boat. I got the game running and no sound whatsoever. I checked the sounds folder, and did both fixes and nothing.



Is there a fix for Vista users yet?

So I went looking around for that SP 1 release version for Vista. I found it here at:

It's about 432mb. I'm letting it run in the backround while playing BC. I'm hoping that this patch will help fix the sound issues. I'll let you know later tonight. Too bad it's a **** DL server.

I have sent him a couple of emails and the last one he did not even respond back to. It does not seem we will be getting any further help from the creater of this great mod.

It seems that we are going to have to wait for the next version of the game and who knows when that will be? THis is crap.

I seem to remember someone saying that you may have to be signed in as an Admin on Vista. Lemme check some threads for you....

Its no use for me it does not work, probably because of vista and how it asks for permition everytime it wants to add new files or change file.

What exactly does Vista ask you?

It's really baffling to me, especially if you have placed these files from the First Fix into your PDER/data/sounds folder:

events.dat
events.idx
Music.dat
Music.idx
SFX.dat
SFX.idx
Voice.dat
Voice.idx

Just to reiterate, thos files should go directly into the sounds folder NOT into the effect_evt folder located within the sounds folder.

If that's not working, I'm not sure what to suggest?

Other mods/vanilla work, so it would rule out a sound card problem?

I understand you are busy I ment no offense with what I said.

Yes I did exactly that. It just does not work. It is wierd because DLV 5.0/patch works just fine for me. I actually reinstalled it and tried to use the sound files from DLV for PDER but it seems they are the same exact sound files in the fix and does not do anything.

About the asking permission in vista. It just when ever I want to install an new program or game it asks for permission before I do. Or if I am editing a text file in a program like MIITW.

Its so wierd. DLV works fine for me but not PDER.

Anybody tried disabling the AUC controle? just remembered that it actually helps a lot whit games running at vista..

yes...it would helpful to know which OS you're using as a number of Vista users have to do an extra step to enable sound...

well i see now that i used my soundfiles from the original game, MTW2, not Kingdoms as i thought. Is that right or wrong? the thing is, i jsut noticed this, that everytime i start it i hear a little sound like when those warningsigns come up and if i press "enter" like i would like to answer yes on any question(don't know what question cuz the whole screen is black) whole PDER shuts down.
