Thread: Crash To Desktop, 44 BC during AI, Julii turn

    A note to developers:

I'm an enthusiast to the RTR series, whatever mod.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: GREAT WORK!

As a side note, I've learned more about ancient European/Middle East history
than all I've learned in my highschool years combined.

My 2 cents based on my limited involvement and experience here.

Based on FMvonKleist's posts, other forum posts, and my limited experience,
it seems that for the hard-coded 60's BC crash, a combination of using the AUC fix
plus retaining the original 3 Roman factions seems to be the key to getting
    around the hardcoded bug.

Probably not everybody plays the game to that late, but if we (meaning you developers )
can solve this 66 BC bug, some people like myself would be totally elated.

I just purchased BI from Fry's for $4.99 in eager anticipation of
AEE 2.0 and RTR 7 coming out.

How do I cross-post across various forums (aside from cut-and-paste)?

(city sizes not matching buildings, to low a values (pop. 100) etc.) So I didn't fool with it, not that it is not a good idea. Anyway, as far as Julii turn for this, I am assuming he this person is also using the reestablishment of the other roman factions. I made sure the other roman factions were destroyed by 44 BC, but I doubt that has any relation to the Julii crash problem. I am going to continue the game that has made it so far with relatively no problems probably for at least 50 more turns into the future, even if I have conquered the whole map to further test the solution.
I am very interested in your experiment with 66 BC, FMvonKleist. Have you managed to go a lot further with your turns.regards magpie.Ps sorry for butting into your forum guys.

    Hey,

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I was wondering if this did prove to be a solution to the 66BC bug? I was thinking about telling Quinn Inuit about this so that it can be implemented in the next version of EXRM but I wanted to double check to make sure this actually worked.

So yeah, if anyone's used this and it's worked please let me know.

    Thanks!

    Hi.
Sorry for the dig but do you get the marian reform with this possible fix?

I'm pretty sure the Marian reform is just caused by having a huge city in Italy that isn't Rome.

Oh I see! Now I remember something like that. And it wouldn't happen before certain date but of course, that's no problem
    Thanks.

    No problem bud :

It tends to come around quite quickly in platinum because of the grain resource bug and the high population growth.

There are still reports that say A.U.C alone doesn't work. Though we still have three internal Roman factions, there is no senate. Whether this has any effect or not I've no idea.

Besides, I still maintain the believe that you shouldn't be playing mods that start in 280BC for that long. They are just not designed for it.

Indeed. Perhaps something that starts around the SPW would make sense to include those units, if not something that starts around the time of the Marian reform. Would save a ton of slots for other units
