Default [RS AAR] Rome: An Empire Is Forged

    Introduction
This AAR will be similar to Nellup’s in the way that the conversations occur but I will go into more detail during the battles. It features my campaign as the Roman from start to finish.
BTW this is my first AAR

    House Rules:
    Difficulty: H/H
Republican legions layout is as such:
    1 general(usually recruited)
    5 Hastati
    5 Principes
    3 Triarii
    4 Velitites
    2 Cavalry(equities)

    VE legions are as such:
    1 general(recruited)
    1 1st Cohort
    9 Cohorts
    4 Ranged units(velities, auxiliary troops)
    2 Cavalry(medium cavalry)
    3 Auxiliary swordsmen or Mercenaries

    Named Legions as such:
    1 General(recruited)
    1 1st Cohort
    9 Cohorts
    4 Ranged Units(archers, auxiliary javelinmen)
    2 Cavalry(Medium cavalry, legionary cavalry)
    3 Auxiliary swordsman or Mercenaries

    *NOTE*
Most of my generals will be recruited very few legions will have family members as generals in addition to this all other House rules will be followed.

    Ok lets get started:

    In Rome The Senate Convenes:

We are now at war with Epeiros, I ask you fellow Senators what should we do?

    Drive them from Italy!!!

    (Rest of senators cheer)

    Very well…. Scribe!

    Yes sir.

Send a order to General Decius Quinctilius and General Quintus Foedus to attack King Pyrrhus at a Tarentum.

(After the order reaches General Decius Quinctilius)

Very Well to Tarentum we shall go……Centurion!

    Yes Sir.

Prepare the legion and send word to General Foedus to prepare his legion and meet me at the southern border.

    I’m on my way sir.

(Two days later near the southern border with Epeiros)

    Decius! What is this about?

We have news from Rome, we are to attack the Epirot King and Take Tarentum.

About time we saw some action. Centurion!

    Yes Sir.

    Get the men ready.

    Immediately Sir.

    Alright Men Onward!

    Form Up Men!

    Velitites To the Front!

Sir The Enemy Cavalry Is Charging Us.

    Hold your position.

    HOLD MEN!

    ELEPHANTS ON OUR RIGHT FLANK!

Calm yourself and hold position. Where the hell is Quintus?

    I’m here, Release Pilii Men!

One of their Generals lies dead push forward men!

    Sir the enemy are regrouping.

    Triarii CHARGE!!!!

Their King is Dead!! It wont be long now.

They are making their last stand sir.

    EXPELL THEIR BLOOD!!!

    VICTORY, WE HAVE VICTORY!!!!

Look how those cowards flee and don’t even defend their city.

All the better for you to govern it.

    What?

Orders from the Senate, you are to govern Tarentum.

(sign..)Ah very well, but who will replace me?

My second in command Aulus Ursus and cheer up your salary will be higher and it looks like you have a knack for this sort of thing. Aulus replenish the legion and make ready for in the spring we march on Croton.

    (To be continued...)

Great stuff. BTW to avoid the "step" effect with the skies where the colours don't merge through smoothly, try running at 32 bit colour if you can. You'll see a big difference.

    Great start, keep it up!

The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get him as soon as you can, strike him as hard as you can and keep moving on.
