FAQ
Q: What exactly is meaning of the name Ferrum Aeternum?
A: It means "Eternal Iron" ( Ferrum-iron and Aeternum-eternal). Medieval iron swords and spears and other arms and armor has shaped and re-shaped the political map our world.
Q: What's the time frame of the mod?
A: Time frame of FA is 1174-1453. This will cover the beginning of the end of the christian power from the Holy land up to Anatolia and Eastern Europe. We will cover crusades and finished with the fall of byzantine empire.
Q: How many turns per year?
A: FA will have 2 turns per year. There are two reasons for that. First one is to make sure that all characters aging process works properly and second is to make sure that players will had a very intense campaign.
Q: Why did you decaided to make this mod?
A: Well, first because i love modding. Modding allow you to create something new, gives you a new challenge and satisfaction when you succeed. Second and main reason was my different point of view from original game how campaign should look like and which goals need to be acomplished. This is not just to make a new mod but make a step ahead of the previous pre-concepts.
Q: What else will be changed in this mod?
A: Allmost everything, new factions, new religions, new map, new game interface, new scripts, new music and events . We will not focus on just one zone but we will try to touch every corner of our map, breaking the pre-concept of original(vanilla) game. We will try make more then two religions and have more diversity among factions. Well, you will see more, but for that stay tuned at our mod forum
Q: What is more important for you; historical accuracy or gameplay?
A: We will try to combine both. It's hard to follow historical accuracy on this type of games. You can make this right before campaign begun but after the first turn A1 factions will act randomly and destroy everything. So some type of balance to satisfy most of the MTW players.
Q: What determined the choice of factions?
A: Time-frame, balance, historical accuracy, religion (trying make different religions, which will make the game more multicultural) and of course the location. We will try to make the life of each faction very hard, with enemies close and ready to fight .
Q: What version of Medieval 2 do I need?
A: Any version of Kingdoms
Q: When will the mod be released?
A: When it's done. Actually, a bit later then that, we need to test it first.
