    Your info is quite accurate...They were (tzacones) a multi role unit the last century...They were the backbone of the "Despotatum of Mistra" army, marines and the last imperial guard for the last emperors....

    And who said the first version will be 1.0? "First version" is a term we're using to describe first playable version of the mod.

    Roman roster will have to changed somewhat for it, since Komnenian army from the vanilla and Roman army from 1345 are very different. So, there will a lot of new units but their roster won't be completely redone for the first version. We can't have varangian guards in 1345... This is the deal for all vanilla factions (escept the ottomans). They will get some corrections in the first version and then we'll do them gradually after that...

    No varangians in 1345?
    Please my friend do not make such huge mistake....
    Even empire of Nikaea had them!The last anglosaxons left the guard after 1400....and replaced by Tzacones!

    There probably won't be varangians if the unit list is too big. They seem to have been very small in number after 1204, but we may just be able to put them in. We'll see.

    Weren't Varangian Guards disbanded after 1204??? I was sure they were... I'll have to refresh my knowledge of Byzantium

    Varangian guard demolished after 1402?(the 1st ottoman siege of Constantinople)!
    As varangians please do not consider only the vikings but also and mostly the Saxons from england and many others!

    1204 was a "crisis" for varangian guard not it's doom!!

    Well, I meant Varangian Guards specifically, as in bodyguards of the Emperor, not all Varangians in the army... I remember reading that they were bodyguards of the Byz Emperors from somewhere in the tenth century to 1204 (fourth crusade). But as I said, I need to refresh my knowledge of Byz

    Since you are going to be using kingdoms why not make it a unit in which only one of can be made at a time.
