"FATAL ERROR" / VISTA PROBLEM: Broken Crescent 1.0 .cfg fix

Some users, that use Vista and even ones that don't have been reporting a "fatal error" upon loading BC.

To fix this issue simply install BC 1.0 as usual but add the following step:

1) Download /brokencrescent.com/Download/QuickFixes/vista_fatal_error_fix.zip
2) Unzip file into C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\ and replace the existing .cfg file.

All credit goes to loet66 for fixing the recurring vista crash.

Is the problem explainable in layman's terms? I'd like to know what's put me through such trouble.

And I would +rep you to if I could (16 more posts). But then again, I would have probably already have lavished all my rep upon Ahiga, Mirage, AD, and Strelac. Instead, they'll have to be satisfied with a big e-hug. Come on, gather round now, don't be shy... That didn't sound creepy, did it? :hmmm:

I had the same problem with windows XP. I used this fix and now it works. So apparently this is works for XP as well.

hmmmm i've windows vista for months and this have work fine for me without the fix ...

I got Xp and I keep getting the fatal error.
Hopefully this will fix it.

A french user has reported that it has to do with NOT setting the options (graphic and otherwise) BEFORE installing BC.

So, rule of thumb...

On a new (and fully patched) install, select all the graphic and other options to your liking...
(and just to be safe, play a skirmish and exit it, so that the game will automatically save the .cfg files)
Prior to installing Broken Crescent.

This should alleviate the "Fatal Error" problem.
In fact, it shouldn't even exist, if that method is followed.
If however, the "Fatal error" exists, then the file in the first post should help.

This is so awesome.
1.2 vanilla did not function,but installed BC,got the fatal error and the Bugfix did it.
Im still wondering why the hell this is working (btw im just in the Main Menu while posting this, i hope battles will work)

Wenn does this fatel error goes i started 2 campains alost in 1200 and no erros yet so .. and yes i have vista

Hey sorry about the other day my brother got on my account and started to spam all over. I need help with the vista because when I try to overwrite the file I get this: error which first says that I cannot create to bc.cfg and that access is denied. Any help???? I would also really like to thank the creators of this mod. I would also like to say sorry to the "abborigines(SP?)" for spamming you.
