Well, unless someone else comes by with another request for anime titles, I guess I can indulge in some off-topic Gundam discussion.


I had a few ideas going through it.

- Not sure if I'll like the new, now-I-can-work-with-you-peacefully Teiria, hereafter known as 'Vowels'
- 10 new Gundam clones for each alliance nation? Eh, I only look forward to seeing Patrick Colasour fail spectacularly. The biggest failure deserves to fail in the very best suit
- I miss the rustic, Zaku-ish, hulk Tierian suits the HRL fielded (even that hot pink one for the loli super soldier. The Wild Pedo Bear of Russia looks out of place in a sleek cockpit
- SERGEI KIIIIIICKU
- Hell yeah, real American men fly Flags and nothing else
- Ribbons having the same powers as Vowels

As far as I can tell, through a bit of web research, "Pervyi Otryad" ("First Squad") is a short anime directed by artist and animator Daisuke Nakayama. Nakayama's most obvious contribution to anime has been the character designs for the 2004 Mahou Shoujo Tai Arusu anime television series. Nakayama has also worked with Production IG on films including Ghost in the Shell and Blood: The Last Vampire; with Studio 4ºC on works including Mahou Shoujo Tai Arusu, Mind Game, and the Animatrix segment "Beyond"; and with Studio Ghibli as an animator on Princess Mononoke. The short First Squad anime was produced by Studio 4ºC, the acclaimed studio that's well known for creating brilliant short anime works.

The First Squad anime seems to be a 3:27 music video for the song "Pervyi Otryad" performed by Russian rapper Ligalaiz. The "trailer" seems to be a shortened version of the music video. While it may not be authoritative, the Japanese Wikipedia encyclopedia's entry on Studio 4ºC lists "First Squad" as one of the studio's numerous self-contained music videos. Director Daisuke Nakayama is also no stranger to helming short anime music videos, as he also directed the 35 second long anime TV commercial for Hikaru Utada's song "Let Me Give You My Love," and is the director for an upcoming M-flo animated music video that will be included on the Japanese "Amazing Nuts" DVD.

Regrettably the short music video may be the entire project. The First Squad website and trailer first went online in July 2005, and I can't find any discussion of plans for a forthcoming release. The First Squad "trailer" certainly looks promising, but unfortunately every bit of information I can find about it suggests that the music video is all there is, and all there ever will be. In this case, hopefully I'll turn out to be wrong.

: Daryl and Colasour gets in a argument because Pat called Graham a coward, and it is shown that Daryl really does admire Graham, and Colasour is "against violence".
:Setsuna is seeing a vision of Marina telling him it is OK to stop fighting. And he wonders maybe that's what he wants.
:Colasour was NOT shot down
:Alejandro disconnected the Gundams from Veda, resulting in a system shutdown of the Gundam's.
:Sumeragi anticipated this, and she managed to reboot the Gundam's by running a backup system from the Ptolemy.
:Setsuna denies the vision of Marina, and decides to fight and live.
:Tieria broke down for being abandoned by Veda, and Lockon gets mortally wounded by Colasour trying to protect him
:The newly arrived GN arm saves the day, and the UN forces withdrew.
:The GN-X proved to be a incredible MS. The Meisters were pressed really hard by them. Only 2 were shot down(one by a surprise attack by the GN arms) in exchange for the loss of Dynames.
:Base of the Trinities are located and HRL's GN-X units attacks it
:Johann suspects that Lagna Harvey sold them out, but it's revealed that Harvey is assassinated by someone in employ of Alejandro in the next scene, since according to Alejandro "his part is over".
:Which reveals that Trinity was a disposable pawn of a disposable pawn. I now actually pity them... a bit.
:In the preview Ali is laughing while sitting in what looks like the cockpit of one of the Thrones...

just saw this topic, ok i have really liked Last Exile (almost finded it poetic, really a beatiful anime), someone can suggest me a similar anime?
I'm also a fan of macross/robotech, have seen the original series, some of the movie and the awesome macross zero, is there something else new about robotech (or an anime similar to it?).
It exist somewhere an anime of Bastard??? I want to see dark schneider in action
Finally, there are some roman/classical era anime? And good ww2 ones?

Things will get interesting. Loved the fact they killed the journalist, makes it all more serious. SOME SERIOUS :wub: IS GOING DOWN THERE!!

And they found Veda, weird stuff. I'm dying to know what's going on behind the scenes, you know, the true intentions of Aeolia Shenberg, like that Union dude said before he got wacked by the thrones.

that's sad, i too watched the vid and thinked it was really cool, even if seeing guys on a horse and guys with swords alongside tanks and ww2 airplanes was strange, however it was really cool

Well, I can only second the new Macross recommendation, but if you're looking for something classical/medieval...


I can only suggest manga (unless you're into Medieval Japan), including:

Historie - about the life of Eumenes, a later general under Alexander.
Vinland Saga - the manga in my sig, about 10th/11th century Vikings.
