Does he matter for the world any longer? No, I say, so that's quite pointless. Just a personal decision from a former Prime Minister.
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."
- Flavius Vegetius Renatus (in Epitoma Rei Militari, ca. 390)
Non-news. He has always been officially a high anglican, his entire family is catholic and he has been a practicing catholic for years.
It would be bigger news if he became Muslim.
hes catholic and what... he doesnt have any function now... it wont upset anyone
Um, he is sort of international peace envoy to the middle east.
Catholicism and Anglicanism are almost the same anyway.

Firstly, let me get the most important issue out of the way, it is my 1000th post at TWCenter.
Secondly, this is not a good thing for Blair to become Catholic, it just means that Europe's biggest (little) power is now on the side of the Vatican.

:hmmm: Why do you think this, jankren? I was raised as an Anglican and they are about as protestant as you can get. There is no Pope, no Saints you can pray to, no Limbo, no confession for the Anglican whatsoever.....
Regarding Blair's conversion. Good on him. Each to their own.

Is this like a media stunt to have Blair in the news again?
It's like posting pictures of Britney's vagina , because she needs to be in the news periodically , otherwise we might just forget about her very fast.
There's no Pope, but there is an ecclesiastical hierarchy. And Anglicans do believe in Saints. Charles I of England, for example, has been canonized by the Anglican Church after the Reformation, so the Anglican Church has not only kept the Saints canonized in its Catholic, but created Saints of its own.
There was even a conference (Lambeth), back in 1958, about the commemoration of Saints in the Anglican Faith : http://www.lambethconference.org/res...58/1958-79.cfm
About Blair: The Catholic Church is like crack. It's extremely easy to get into it. But almost impossible to get out. I went to the local parish as soon as I turned 18 and required my certificate of desbaptism. They refused. I guess I'll have to kill a Priest and be excommunicated in order to officially leave Catholicism (a faith I've never been part of, I was only baptised because my grandfather insisted).

Great I'd suggest they excommunicate him though for being such a lapdog.

That's not true, for the following reasons: Catholics dance better than Protestants, and the Church doesn't force you to tithe, so you can pretty much free load your way to salvation if you don't mind a few dirty looks every now and then.
This is true.and, alas, You can't be "unbaptized" any more than you could have your original foreskin attached if you were circumcised. But it doesn't mean that you can't leave the church, you're quite welcome to. What it means is that they church always has to take you back.
