Need Help please

ok so i have BI patched to 1.6
i just downloaded the game. Every time i clikc on the desktop icon it wont load. all that appears is... The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction with the black box from after the reg download that runs 4 10 mins. Please post back soon.

That's strange.

Can you post the path in the target field which can be accessed by right-clicking the icon and selecting 'properties'?

Mine looks like this:

"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -nm -show_err -mod:bi\ci

We get the rare occasion when installer software and/or batch files are incompatible with old or unusual PC setups - in this case a RAR version is provided in the same post as the main download.

Yes, that's right so it is not a pathing problem. I am unsure exactly what you mean in your first post regarding the "black box"

4.10 seems a little short and so your PC's OS may be having problems with the batch file.

It would probably be wise to start again by downloading the RAR version. You will have to delete the "ci" folder inside your bi folder too.

Remember to apply patch 2.5 once the RAR of 2.0b is installed.
