Default Unifacation: A Greek XGM AAR

    So far....
The year is 259 BC the Greek Cities have defeated Macedon and are in control of the Greek home land, the only city in the Peloponnese not under Greek control is Byzantium which is an allied independent city.
All armies that have been kept as garrison during the Greek-Macedonian Wars are quickly being ferried across the Aegean to help in the war against Pontus and The Seleciud Empire.
The Greek Prince Kleon the Conquerer leads an army of elite Athenian and Spartan warriors against the Pontic city of Sesamus.
Kelon arranges his forces around three rams and prepares to assault the walls. The brave Thracian Mercenaries lead the way with the rams and quickly destroy the walls.
Meanwhile Kleon's young nephew Leonidas of Sparta heads a small force to guard the rear against the Pontic reinforcements. his force quickly routs the inexperienced Pontics and forms up with the rest of the army.
Back in the square the Thracians have approached with out any conflict. The peltasts quickly slaughter the small group of hillmen that was guarding the square and soon the enemy captain is on the ground dead.
    P.S. I'll have screens soon

After the successful siege of Sesamus, Kleon and his army chase down the surviving defenders.

He sends his cousin, Leonidas and some of his best troops to fight

Leonidas quickly takes charge and slaughters the Pontics

The Thracians also do another fine job at destroying their eninies

Another fine victory (and overkill )

Part III: The Triumph of the Hypasists
In 258 BC Euetion of Korinthos, the leader of the Hypasists, move his army to the wast of Ancrya to attempt to break the siege. while he is at camp a large Selecuid army attacks him from the West. "Strategos!" on of his commanders calls him, "What shall we do!"
Euetion is faced with two choices, he can run to the mountains and risk loosing some of his army in the rout or he can stay and fight. He choses what any sensible Greek would do and he stays and fights.
He is based on the outskirts of a small, abandoned village giving he and his men a small advantage in hight. when the Seleciuds are at the bottom of the hill his men charge.
During the battle Eueton and his loyal bodyguard are taken by surprise by heavy peltasts (which is what most of the army is comprised of) and he takes a javalin to the thigh early causing him to run for his life. Near the end of the battle he would forget about the pain and he turns what remains of his guard back to battle.
The other troops weren't so lucky. the enemy peltasts skirmish with the heavy troops and kill or wound 2 in every 5 Hypasists. The Hypasists shrug off the wounds and leave the dead behind as they crash into the enemy line. By the end of the battle 4 in every 5 Hypasists were killed and 2 out of every 5 other troops were killed.
After the battle the besieging Selecuids retreat to their own lands to prevent a fierce Greek retaliation. A Pontic army quickly takes over the siege on Ancrya.
Eueton and his Hypasists regrouped and , reienforced by Captain Mykanos, he attacked the besieging army at Ancrya.
The Hypasists charge up the hill and, with the aid of the new Cretan Archers, slaughter the Pontics.

    The enemy was everywhere

Even after taking heavy looses the Hypasists still charge with fury
(sorry about not having screens for that battle it was actually kind of challenging)

The Pontics don't stand a chance

    There was no hope

A few Greek traitors try to make a run for the hills (these are pontic mercs)

nothing can stand in our way!
