having trouble with rome total realism install

Bought RTW off of ebay

Installed the game, tried installing the 1.2 patch but it told me that the game was already updated to this version. Installed the rome total realism 6.0 full version but got some weird error when i started up the game. I assume the v1.2 isnt compatible? If anyone knows what the scoop is, id appreciate the advice. Thanks

Which release did you buy? If it is called RTW Gold, then you will have to go with RTR-PE since the gold version is already patched to 1.5 (and not 1.2)...

Run Vanilla RTW, go to Options and check the corner of the screen. It tells you your current version. As the previous poster said, you may have Version 1.5 installed if you purchased a recent release of RTW. Rome Total Realism Gold (6.0) isn't compatible with 1.5, so you'll need Rome Total Realism: Platinum Edition (which also has a few minor bugfixes).

Yeah, it is v1.5.. doh..

Prior to installing platnum edition, do i need to install any patches?

Also, from looking around, there seems to be two platinum installs: v1.9 (230 or so mb), and some other one thats nearly 500 meg...

I'd advise the modswitch version (122MB). It's smaller and doesn't alter the core game files. The sticky is in the RTR: PE subforum, or just click here.

Edit: Oh and no, you don't need to patch 1.5 any further.
