Right click on the RTW icon (from steam) , click properties and post here what it says.

When I click property, it goes fine without a problem as if the Mod was not installed.

Can anyone tell me which folder shall I install RTWR Platinum Mod on Steam?

    Thanks

    I also have this problem.

When I installed the RTRPE, it said it couldnt find RTW 1.5 in the folder. I've cheked the version, and it's 1.5.

Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone have a sollution to it?

@ Lesta: What are you looking for in the properties?
I get for "widgets", General, Updates, Local Files and Language.

Don't you mean right click on the RTRPE shortcut in Steam? I've got two options there, and they look like this:

    Target: "C:\Programfiler\Steam\steamapps\common\rome total war gold\RomeTW.exe"

Start In: "C:\Programfiler\Steam\steamapps\common\rome total war gold\"

I can see I'm about a month late, but I went through this thread looking for the solution to this problem myself. When I tried Europa Barbarorum, I found a guide for getting that mod to work on Steam, and the same steps work for RTRE. It's easy:

First, install the mod normally to "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\rome total war gold". No quotes of course. This should be where your game is if you are using STEAM.

Next, open STEAM. Open the "My games" tab. Right click on "Rome Total War: Gold". A window pops up. At the bottom, Left click "Properties." Window. Left click the button that says "Set launch options..." Window. Copy and paste "-mod:rtr_-show_err" (no quotes) into the text box and left click "OK".

Now you simply click "Rome Total War: Gold" in the "My games" list to play the mod. I hope this is helpful to somebody.

For RTR-PE this actually would be:
    -mod:RTRPE -show_err

Thanks. But, after posting my first comment, I learn that my game crashes when I try to start a campaign. Lame... Was I supposed to have RTR installed before PE, or something? I've never used this mod.

Are you sure you used RTR-PE "-mod switch"?
If you have the normal RTR-PE or Gold then it will overwrite all vanilla files...

    Welcome to the forum btw

Actually, I did download and install the normal RTR-PE. The range of options is kind of confusing to guys like me. Do I need to uninstall it and install the "-mod switch" version?

    Thanks for the welcome.

I guess that is the best (and easiest) option yes

Did you remember to delete the map.rwm file? Not deleting it gives a crash when you start the campaign.

Can someone confirm whether or not BI on Steam works with mods, specifically RTR:PE Mod Switch version (and TIC!)? I'm thinking of replacing my ageing hard copy of RTW, which is a version so old it comes on three CDs, and hard copy BI with Steam copies to save time and hassle. But only if they would remain compatible with RTR!

Yes, it works. The only thing that's different is the folder you install it to. And I recommend that you always go with the mod-foldered version of the mod when given the choice.

Ah, I decided to order a hardcopy with my latest shipment of books from Amazon, to be on the safe side. It was the same price as Steam. However I'm fairly certain you can activate games on Steam with your CD-key to have them tied to your account, with all the various benefits (and restrictions) that entails.

    Thanks all the same!

Hey, I'm new to the problem, but I followed all the instructions here "the whole thing about changing the launch options to -mod:RTRPE -show_err, but that seems to mess up my vanilla. Is there any way that I can still play the vanilla and BI (which loads to RTR too) and load rtr sepearately, or do I need to keep swiching between the -mod:RTRPE -show_err when ever I feel like playing another game. I really don't mind that, and I can always create a wordpad document on my desktop to help me remember.

I think switching between them is the only option... though I must admit that I'm not really familiar with Steam... (In fact, I hate it to play ETW)

Is it possible to have multiple installments of RTW with Steam?
Or better, is it possible to have multiple shortcuts in Steam to the same game? You can then have one shortcut with the -mod:RTRPE -show_err thing and one without

Honestly, I don't know, but I don't think so. When I changed the file on steam, it also changed my desktop shortcut. If anyone here knows how to put up shortcuts and to choose where it pulls the game from, I guess I could set up a shortcut that went to the vanilla and another for BI.

Also, one more question, will RTR VII be on the RTW engine or the M2TW engine like EB2?
