Default Something BC fans might enjoy

    You all remember "Haydar, Haydar"
here is another cool BC inspired song: its an Uighur folk-tune done by a master.

    Enjoy

    Ma'Salema

(ps: for those who cannot read Arabic script, the song is titled something like "aoumoud")

He is playing the Dotar (also spelled Duttar, Dutar) a two stringed lute instrument from central asia, it is a favorite of the Uyghur peoples: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutar)

Dotar literally means "two string," you'll learn that in your Persian classes soon! That's where the "tar" in guitar comes from. The "gui" is anyone's guess!

It says I have to spread rep before giving it to you again, but you'll get some once I can give it!

Thanks for sharing this, that guy can play!

That's what I was thinking. Don't discount simple instruments or "simple" people when it comes to music. Very impressive for two strings.

That first guy plays better with a 2 string instrument than most musicians with a 6-string

Yea, I don't know why they use this vegas-like backdrop. He should be playing in the steppe or on around a blue tiled madrassa or something...

As a long time guitarist myself, that guy is killer. I'm definitely gonna check e-bay for any interesting eastern stringed instruments like that. But already got a new flamenco recently and have an old Oud that I can barely play too. What is this instrument called?

Even though the actual frets are narrower than guitars, the speed and bit more right hand strumming focus makes up for it. Though it definitely not as complicated as an Indian Sitar.

Either way that dude is awsome!

I know how you mean Mirage, ive been a bassist/drummer for 7 years now, and I still am addicted to watching this thing!

The instrument is actually a "Dotar" or "Two-String" (curtosy of our Persian friends here in BC ) I am contemplating also buying a middle eastern/asian instrument (im looking at Setar, Dotar or Saz)
I cant find the tuning, but I tried to tune a Ukelele I have so that I could figure out the song for my band. We will try and transcribe the song to guitar, but it might not be as fast

    Glad you enjoyed it!

    Ma'Salema
