Additionally, a warmer world will be a wetter world--much more accessible freshwater. A warmer world will make vast amounts of land habitable year round (Canada and Siberia). Lastly, a number of new shipping routes would become navigable, dramatically reducing the cost and time of international trade.

Global warming would entail substantial transition costs (sea walls, irrigation pipelines to newly dry regions, etc.) but the long term benefits are enormous.

I have similar reasons as Icefrisco as why I lost faith in America and it's values.

I do dislike how America is very anti-enviornmentalist and how they are overdeveloping the whole place. They are also have been and still are harming to Native Americans, and to nature. Many prophecies of many religions point to the destruction of America and all it's people if they don't turn from its ways.

I feel religiousness in America is trying to bring about Armaggedon because they truely want the world to be destroyed. That is why I feel the Hopi religion and the other religions that are here in America are different. The other religions want to cause evil in order for the Savior to come, by trying to cause destruction to the enviornment, to other people, and to cause a war in the Middle East that will trigger WWIII. The Hopi and other Native Americans and indigenous tribes do not want to purposely cause the destruction of the world, but want to stop it but know that the Great Spirit or God or whatever you may call the thing synonymous with God will punish man for his wrong doing and NO ONE will survive. There won't be any one race, not even the Hopi Indians, will survive and rule the world if we screw it up. But the other religions especially the religiousity of America want to destroy the enviornment, destroy other people, cause war, and cause evil to "bring forth good" by doing evil.

And they do this in the name of their God and for America, believing America is above all other nations.

This is a good reason why I lost faith in America and the religiousity of it's people.

The Hopi tribe do NOT want this bad thing to happen, they do NOT actively try to cause it to bring forth the Savior in his glory so that he may destroy the earth, but are warning us to turn from our ways.

Does changing our ways include replacing all normal siding with oriented strand board, burning furniture for heat, and drinking a case of beer every day?

I think that global warming though could be disasterous and cause potentially billions to die. I don't like how many religious people in America think they are gonna be raptured so therefore pollute and enjoy a rich, lavish life because you are gonna be in heaven with their Savior because it all doesn't matter anymore.

And I wonder how many people in the West treat the environment as some kind of sacred, inviolable icon which must never be interfered with as an article of religious faith.

I am very interested in the future of our world and generations beyond our own. As Edmund Burke said, "Society is a compact between the dead, the living, and those yet to be born."

That said, treating global warming as a massive disaster is a ridiculous and hysterical reaction. The Dutch have been successfully fighting the sea for 800 years. Israel has successfully introduced intensive, sustainable agriculture to the desert. Global warming could be very positive if we look at it differently.

As to your nod to the Hopi tribe, I don't know anything about the Hopis in particular (I will watch your youtube video later), but Indians do not have some kind of sacred, religious relationship to nature. That's a fiction that was invented. Indians regularly hunted deer by setting forests on fire and waiting downwind so they could slaughter them en masse. Indians drove herds of bison off of cliffs. Indians practiced slash and burn agriculture.

Today Indians take advantage of their special status by acquiring lands where mining is prohibited by state governments and then use their tribal sovereignty to mine the land. They derive their income not from partnership with the land, but from monopoly casino privileges and income redistribution from productive people. I'm not sure what lessons we're supposed to learn from this.

Well Minnesota is frozen the year round so global warming would just mean that the Twins might get to play outside for three weeks of the year as the glaciers retreat to Duluth.

If you could do it with a gorgeous person (your preference of gender) and get aids and hundreds of other STD or do it with a slightly less good looking person (no choice of gender) who would you choose and why? Don't take this analogy word for word, has a different meaning than it appears.

Do you prefer instant gratification or long term stability. I also suggest you educate yourself about the Permian Mass Extinction. Global Warming isn't a paradise as you suggest

The levels of CO2 concentration required to even possibly recreate the release of large quantities of H25S are at least 900ppm, which is above and beyond what I consider optimal. In any case, through the pleistocene epoch the level was over 1,000, so hysterically suggesting that increasing CO2 is automatically going cause another mass extinction is reaching.

In any case, we're literally only a few years from being able to mass produce microorganisms. Among the things these could do? Drum roll please...photosynthesis! Worrying about climate change is silly, because we can engineer the world we want to live in.

Well, the death of billions would make the envirowackos happy. People like Algore (Earth in the Balance) have been hoping for a mass die-off for decades.

And by the way, my Comanche name is Tsa Hinu Supanitu Isa. Comanches were the smart aboriginal Americans. We left the reservations early in the 20th Century, and assimilated. I've had a dandy life. No one is trying to harm me.

BTW, fewer people die in warm climates than cold ones. Look it up ...
