    Default Haydar Haydar! song

I have been listening to this song for awhile, and it got me in the mood for BC. It is called "Haydar Haydar" or "Lion Lion" (haydar is an arabic word for lion, along with assad). I think it is an Alevi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alevi) song about Ali (correct me if I am wrong).

Here are the lyrics, could someone translate them for me? I am so curious:

    Ondörtbin yıl gezdim pervanelikte
    Sıtkı ismin duydum divanelikte
    İçtim şarabını mestanelikte
    Kırkların cem'inde dara düş oldum

Kırkların cem'inde Haydar Haydar.... (dost) dara düş oldum

    Yürü hu Naciye özümü kattım
    Adem sıfatından çok geldim gittim
    Bülbül oldum Firdevs bağında öttüm
Bir zaman gül için zara düş oldum

Bir zaman gül için Haydar Haydar.... (dost) zara düş oldum

Ondörtbin Yıl Gezdim Pervanelikte (Haydar Haydar)

    Ondörtbin Yıl Gezdim Pervanelikte,
    Sıtkı İsmin Duydum Divanelikte.
    İçtim Şarabını Mestanelikte,
    Kırkların Ceminde Dara Düş Oldum.

Kırkların Ceminde Haydar Haydar............. Dara Düş Oldum
    Güruh-u Naciye Özümü Kattım
    Adem Sıfatından Çok Geldim Gittim
    Bülbül Oldum Firdevs Bağında Öttüm
Bir Zaman Gül İçin Zara Düş Oldum.
Kırkların Ceminde Haydar Haydar............ Dara Düş Oldum

very interesting song, although I think that better fit would be great song from Korki Butchek...couldn't find sample but it goes something like:

    Bing Bang, Bing Bang Bong

Tsk Tsk Strelac, you don't even know the lyrics... here's how it really goes:

Bing Bang Bing Bong Bang *k* *k* *K* Bing Bang Bing Bang Bong *k* *k* *K*

    Now lets sing it together!!

    @ Beuchamp

Could you rename the thread perhaps.. considering this isn't BC's theme song. Could be a bit misleading for some.

Just double click on the thread title in the main BC forums index.

You don't have to.. just a suggestion due to the fact that some might assume this is indeed what they will hear when they open up BC.

EDIT: Nevermind, I did it already.

Cool song, also, seeing as this thread was previously named BC theme, have any of you heard the main menu music for CivIV warlords? That also gets me in a BC mood, and would be very cool for BC as well, though I guess the team has already got their own, presumably awesome, main menu music.

I remember reading that it's actually a Lebanese song from 1970 though.

What exactly does "Shukran Jizilan" mean actually? I'm guessing... "thank you"

this is very difficult to translate, even people who live in turkey can not understand everything of this this fully. I asked some one of my friends who live in Turkey, he told me that it was a alevi poem.

Good to hear from you, Ermeni. I haven't in a while.
Does Hay have any relation to Haye?

    No, not like Hayastan
    "Haydar" means "lion" in Arabic.

Hi IrAr, yeah I've been gone a wile

and as beuchamp say it's not related

or do you mean when they sing Haye Haye in kurdish/Turkish songs? that don't mean anything they just sing it to express some kind of "feeling", none of them are related to Hay,

beuchamp i'll try to see if someone can help with the translation. i had this armenian friend from Halab he spoke old turkish, i'll try to mail him.

maybe its in Alevi or Anatolian dialects? (I don't think it is in Ottoman...)

Edit: here are the Ali Ekbar Cicek lyrics (the man in the video):
    Ondörtbin yil gezdim divanelikte
    Sidk-i ismin duydum pervanelikte
    Içtim sarabini mestanelikte
Kirklarin ceminde haydar haydar haydar dara düs oldum

Song is in Turkish in Central Anatolian dialect (under influence in Persian which is normal as Alevism can be considered a herodox form of shiism). It is highly metaphorical and about Ali ibn Talip (son-in-law of Mohammed) who is symbolized as Haydar (Lion). Btw Alevis are not a distinct ethnic group there exists Turkish,Kurdish and Arab Alevis.
My translation won't be much meaningful since i dont know much about methaphors in Alevism but any way:

I traveled fourteen thousand years in lunaticness
I heard your devoted name in firmament
I drank your wine in besottedness
In fourtys cem haydar haydar haydar I fell to trouble

I added my essence to heavenly
I fluctuated around human title much many
I became a nightingale in heavens garden
For a rose once upon a time haydar haydar haydar
    I fell to trouble

sucky translation really but its best i can do

I meant is Haye (our Haye) related to their Haydar? Apparently, not as Seljuk as made it quite clear.
