Default Rome Total Realism: what is it?

I've been trying to find info of what RTR is? I looked at the website and look at the sticky but I cannot seem to find what I'm looking for.

    Can you please help?

    thank you

Could you please be more specific as to what exactly is it that you would like to know about RTR? It always helps to be precise when asking questions, you know?...

    sorry I wasn't clear.
    ============

Why would I want to install Rome Total Realism? What changes/improvements would it give the standard version?

    Thanks again

    Vanilla - x.x
    RTR - O.O

How about a much bigger map, way more units and factions, a lot more historical accuracy, more turns per year, and the list goes on... You won't know what you've been missing until you try it, and when you do, you'll probably never want to go back to vanilla.

Make sure you read the FAQs. This will explain some of the differences between RTW and RTR.

    Enjoy playing RTR!

One thing that I recall from when I first switched over to RTR (back in the 5.4 days) was that the infantry units were a lot slower moving than in RTW. In RTW the infantry appeared to move as fast as the cavalry.

Try it and you will know why I was nearly physically ill when I attempted to go back to Vanilla for a day.

The colours are even worse if you try and play the Assyrians (?) in BI - fluro light blue! I guess the Parthians (?) in RTW were just as bad.

I've not played BI since I started a couple of campaigns when it was first launched (Assyrians and Saxons).

It's the Sassanians - a Persian dynasty that defeated and replaced their former Parthian masters. But, yes, the colours are, indeed, appalling...

lol. I will never be able to go back to vanilla, not a chance.

Which is funny really because I loved RTW to death (in fact I've never been so addicted to a game before).

My main problem with vanilla is that the battles usually take less time than it took to deploy your army.
Thank you to all of the RTR Team.

My big problem was that campaigns never took very long I always had all of the med before the first century was out.

Thanks for that, as I posted I've not played RTW or BI for a very long time (and don't intend to either).

I find with the 4tpy mod that
    a) everything takes ages to build
    b) all my family members never die or marry or have kids
    c) expansion happens really quickly in terms of years, but not in terms of turns

I kind of find it irritating if I ever switch to 2tpy that my people die all the time and the buildings seem to take no time at all to be built

But I think that you will find that I'm just a bit strange and you won't want to switch around. (specially to vanilla).
