    Default XGM Command

    XGM Command: A Brief Description
    Files changed (2) - EDU and shared.txt
    shared.txt file change: from "Eagle Inspires Nearby Friendly Troops" to "Command Unit"

    This is something I modify myself with each update we get from DBH. I add the command attribute to some of the elite units for the different factions. I give at least one or two units per faction the "Command" attribute.
    A unit that has the command attribute will give a morale boost to any nearby friendly troops. This helps specifically when a hole forms in your line somewhere and you need an elite group of soldiers to embolden the regular men of the line.

    The units that are changed in EDU:
    All Generals (except Romans), including Rebel Generals and Barbarian Warlords
    GCS/IGCS - Spartan Royal Guard, Sacred Band, Athenian Hoplites, Syracusan Hoplites
    Macedon - Agema Hypapists, Companion Cavalry
    Seleucid - Silver Shield Legionaries (remains the same), Companion Cavalry
    Baktria - Agema Hoplites, Companion Cavalry
    Ptolemaic - Basilikon Guard, Hetairoi
    Rome - First Cohorts (remains the same)
    Carthage - Sacred Band, Sacred Band Cavalry
    Pontus - Kardakes Swordsmen, Cappadocian Cavalry
    Armenia - Kardakes Swordsmen, Companion Cavalry
    Saba - Temple Guard
    Gaul - Chosen Swordsmen, Noble Cavalry
    Germans - Chosen Axemen, Noble Cavalry
    Iberia - Ambakaro, Noble Cavalry
    Parthia - Companions
    Scythia - Cataphracts, Noble Cavalry


    Two additions I have made in the recent version (5.7.9 and following) of Command is to give the Command trait to the Noble Cavalry of the Barbarian cultures and to lower the charge distance of the Cavalry Command Units. It is my belief that due to their rigorous training and battlefield experience they would be able to perform a roll-around charge better than a lower tier unit.

    For version 5.8 I have increased the charge bonus of all non-skirmisher cavalry. I have tried to make the changes according to how good the unit is, i.e. elite units will get the largest bonuses.

    I have also modified the recruitment time of the Spartan Royal Guard to 10 turns for 15000 denarii. Recently while playing as Macedon I had to fight two units of the Spartan Royal Guard around the year 250 BC. So the Greek City States only recruited 1 unit in ~30 years.

    It feels kind of cool, sending your elite unit into the fray to turn the tide of the battle.

    Once downloaded just click 'XGM Commandxxx.exe' on your desktop, it will do everything else. I have only changed two files, descr_unit.txt and shared.txt. If there are any problems (there shouldn't be, I've rigorously tested) please let me know.
    To get rid of it, just reinstall XGM...no big deal.

    And the obligatory picture showing the affect of a Command Unit. Notice the "Command Eagle" and the info box.

    Will post a new XGM Command for XGM v. 5.5.14 on Monday or Tuesday...barring anymore updates .

    Hey Guys and Gals,
    Here's a new version of XGM Command for XGM v 5.5.13

    All faction units received the same settings except the Romans. The First Legions keep the Command attribute but I removed it from the Generals and Triarii. It started creating too much confusion with "Eagles of Rome" all over the place, it also gave a little too much of a morale boost to the Romans, who already have high morale.
    Anyways, here it is...

    NO LONGER SUPPORTED - version is outdated

    same instructions as before...

    XGM Command for version 5.5.17/18

    As stated previously I have listed ALL the changes concerning this mini-mod.

    These units have all received the command attribute
    All General units receive the command attribute, except the Romans.

    Gaul - Druids, unit size increased to 24 (small unit size)
    Germans - Berserkers, unit size increased to 24 (small unit size)
    Scythia - Cataphracts, recruitment time increased to 2
    Carthage - Sacred Band Hoplites, recruitment time increased to 2,
    Sacred Band Cavalry, recruitment time increased to 2
    Iberia - Ambakaro, recruitment time increased to 2
    Armenia - Cataphracts, recruitment time increased to 2
    Pontus - Cappadocian Cavalry, recruitment time increased to 2
    Parthia - Companion Cavalry, recruitment time increased to 2
    Ptolemies - Basilikon Gaurd, recruitment time increased to 2,
    Hetairoi, recruitment time increased to 2
    GCS/IGCS - Spartan Royal Gaurd, recruit time decreased to 10, cost 15000,
    Sacred Band, recruitment time increased to 2
    Seleucids - Legionaries, recruitment time increased to 2,
    Companion Cavalry - recruitment time increased to 2
    Macedon - Agema Hypapists, recruitment time increased to 2,
    Companion Cavalry, recruitment time increased to 2
    Romans - Legionaries, same
    Bactria - Agema Hoplites, recruitment time increased to 2,
    Companion Cavalry, recruitment time increased to 2
    Saba - Temple Gaurd, recruit time increased to 2, unit size increased to 50 (small unit size)

    These have not
    Other unit changes:
    Seleucids - Gastraphetes, unit size increased to 20 (small unit size)
    GCS - Athenian Marine Archers, unit size increased to 50 (small unit size)

    The recruitment time increases were made because I started running into armies of Seleucid Legionaries and Carthaginian Sacred Bands. I've found that increasing the recruitment time but leaving the cost as-is, somewhat limits the AI propensity to make an army of all elites. I also think that the elites would train a little longer, which makes them...elites.
    I've seen my levies flee at the onset of a Companion Cavalry charge, pretty cool.

    I've also modified the install folder to limit the download time...it's now down to 177kb. Only two text files are included in the download, a major breakthrough for me .

    It should work fine with 5.5.18, Dime didn't make any changes to the units and I've only changed two text files .

    XGM Command for v5.6.2

    Hello all,
    I've made some significant changes, I've kept it more in line with how DBH designed XGM. The recruitment times and costs have not been changed from the original XGM files, I have only added the "Command" attribute to the same units as described in post #10.
    Except for the SRG: 10 turns at 15000 denarii

    I hope you all like it, please let me know if you have any problems, though I have tested extensively. Have a good day all.

    For the two guys who downloaded XGMCommand for version 5.6.2, I will happily make another one for 5.6.3. I still think it's an easy way to get some more intensity on the battlefield and give more worth to those elite units.
    And remember, it also lowers the recruitment time for the Spartan Royal Guard!
