Australian Lighthorsemen charging on Turkish-German trenches near Beersheba - 31st of October 1917:
Imagine how many more Australians would have died if the same position had been stormed by Australian infantry?
Another historical cavalry charge from the times of WW I (but I'm not sure when exactly did it take place):

"King resorted to a plan for increasing the inhabitants... He opened an asylum. Thither fled, from the surrounding peoples, a miscellaneous rabble, without distinction of bond or free, eager for new conditions; and these constituted the first advance in power towards that greatness." - Livy, "The History of Rome"
"After the conquest of Italy, Rome could mobilize 700 thousand troops (Romans and their allies). That strength could not be matched by any other army. Neither Carthage nor Macedon could mobilize a force, that would even roughly match Rome's numbers." - M. Jaczynowska, "Historia Starożytnego Rzymu"
The bloody history of Communism
Largely accurate but may, at times, contain propagandist sentiments; pursue with a pinch of salt.

Bought the abovementioned documentary series concerning the Nazi party's humble origins and it's take-over of deutschland from 1933 onwards to the end of the krieg some years ago and, to be honest, I've never regretted doing so. Enjoy and bon' appetite

Can somebody provide me a link to the history of the peloponnesian wars and the cultures of the different Greek city states of it's time, such as Laecedonia, Thessally, Athens and ect? I'm also interested in learning about legends like the Epic
Circle, the Aneide. And as a reward I'll solemnly swear to spread my knoweldge of Roman History during Claudius life.
Someone has been kind enough to upload the Entire series (which was basically, 8 films) of Hornblower:
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=...view=playlists
If you don't know what Hornblower is...
Horatio Hornblower is a (fictional) Royal Naval officer during the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars.
A Good show, well worth watching. Well acted, good sets and plenty of battles....and ships!

The legions of Rome too is pure eye candy.
I wear the chain I forged in life, I made it link by link and yard by yard. Is it's pattern strange to you? How would you know of length of the strong coil you bear yourself? It was as full, as heavy, and as long as this seven christmas eve's ago, you have labored on it since, it's a ponderous chain!"Pride is not the opposite of Shame, but it's source ; True humility is the only antidote to shame."
The Battle of Tours 732 AD.

732 AD - The Battle of Tours, also known as the Battle of Poitiers, was fought between the Moslems and Charles Martel of the Franks. (Martel meaning Hammer). The Moslems did not agree with the Christian beliefs, which started the belief in the god Allah, and went into several cultures to spread their belief.
The Battle of Tours was won by the Franks. When night had fell, boths armies had rested bu Charles the Hammer went and killed the Moslems as they slept. The battle came to be known to the Frank as " The Victory of Tours" and to the Moslems as "The Pavement of Martyrs".

The Shield
I plan to upload the other three episodes, but I have to edit them into parts and at the present I don't have as much time as I would like.
