    Because, I lost the disk. MTWII worked for me without the disc in the computer, so once I installed it, I didn't care much about the disk. But now hotseat is broken.

    Any way I can enable hotseat with the downloadable version?

    That I am not sure, there may have been some changes since I wrote this guide eons ago. I own the CD version and do not have it currently installed on my new Windows 8 OS.

    2. Setting up your .cfg file for hotseating.

    Open medieval2.preference.cfg (This is in your medieval 2 folder. Usually C:/Program Files/SEGA/Medieval II Total War), search for [game]

    At the end of that section, copy the following lines into that file.

    IMPORTANT: Always back up your files before you edit them!!!

    [multiplayer]
    playable = true

    [hotseat]
    autoresolve_battles = 0
    disable_console = 1
    disable_papal_elections = 1
    passwords = 1
    save_prefs = 1
    update_ai_camera = 1
    validate_diplomacy = 1
    admin_password = *****

    Make sure there is a one line gap between each section.

    In the admin password section, put the password you want. Make sure it is not easy to guess and you don't use it for other hotseats. This is your admin password, which will allow you to access the console as the administrator, which you will need.

    3. Setting up a hotseat.

    To set up a hotseat in both Kingdoms and Medieval is very easy. In Kingdoms Campaigns and mods requiring Kingdoms, simply load up the mod, go to the multiplayer menu, then click on hotseat. Then you can select what factions are playing, what difficulty the game is on, whether all battles are autoresolved or not, whether the console is disabled or not, whether passwords are used, whether there is a time limit on battles, and make sure AI moves are shown.

    IMPORTANT: Make sure the console is disabled in every hotseat you make!!! And make sure passwords are enabled!!!

    In Medieval 2, you need to go to the single player menu, then select the factions you want. You will notice less options are available. The console is disabled automatically, passwords are automatically enabled.

    Now, you have a hotseat set up.
    Will and act until victory

    Thanks...

    EDIT: I searched the forum and I've just found an answer on my question...
    Sorry for the Necro-Post - But can someone link me to the answer to this?

    I *know* that I saw a thread on this a year or two ago but I cannot find it for the life of me!

    What IF
    I was using the "bat" file in a submod and running it in this way

    Code:
    cd ..\..
    start kingdoms.exe @mods\hotseat\TATW.cfg
    the cfg file in the mod folder
    Code:
    [features]
    editor = true
    mod = mods/americas
    How should I do it?
