Google Analytics

I've enabled Google Analytics for the front page, forums, and wiki. Ian and Mimirswell both have accounts. If I had known that you could easily create more admin accounts, I would have got Ian to set it up in his own name, and/or I might figure out some way to transfer it to him. I did it this way because AdSense is a PITA that way and I assumed Google Analytics would be too, plus this is generally easier. I might have to transfer the account to Ian anyway, since according to the ToS a 5,000,000 views-per-month limit exists if you don't participate in AdSense, and I don't know if it will realize we do if they're under different accounts.

Anyway, it's accessible here. Other admins who want to have access can ask. Once I see what sort of data it produces, depending on sensitivity of collected data, I might allow other random interested parties to view it, if I can't set it up for public viewing. I suspect the collected data is too sensitive to be made completely public.

Should be interesting to see what sort of traffic we get on the front page as opposed to the wiki, and where it all comes from

Note that this offer still stands. Anyone who wants access can have it. Just give me your e-mail address and make sure it's signed up as a Google account. (Gmail accounts are automatically Google accounts too, of course.)

Some interesting statistics. I assume it only goes back a few weeks because that's how long we've had it enabled? As well, they don't happen to describe any of these stats somewhere, do they? I understand most of them but Bounce Rate(sp?) confused me a bit and I couldn't find a description.

One of the most interesting bits I found was that 45% of our visitors/page views are search engines. On the good side, of the human visitors, almost 2/3rds know our site well enough to come directly here as opposed to following a link somewhere.

Analytics goes back to November 2007, as the first post in this thread says. The default view is one month, but you can change that.

Bounce rate is the percentage of people who get to a given page, and then leave the site (don't visit any further pages in that session).
