Thread: Sahara?

    Icon5 Sahara?

I'm new to all this, had an iMac that was too old to play it for the last few years and finally got a decent PC in the last month so I can finally play these games after waiting for so long. I was going to get Eras but I saw Medieval in a bargain bin for $10 a couple of weeks ago and just gave in. So I don't have any expansions at all. Most of my games so far have been on Easy setting so I can get a feel of what's going on

Anyway, I wanted to know about the Sahara province. I know it's there because of the big empty space on the overall map and because when I move pieces around in the area I occasionally get a scroll saying Sahara: Rebel Province, Enemy, but there isn't even a border (except for the coastal region). I've played Egypt through to total domination (in about 1412?) but was never able to find a way to access the province. I don't understand. Is it an emergent province that appears in the last 50 years of the game? That seems such a waste. Is there perhaps a specific unit I need to access it? Is it Almohad only? Or is it something that is clearly in game but isn't "unlocked" until you get the expansion (which, in terms of the original release of the game would be rather stupid).

You can only see it if you use the .matteosartori. cheat. If play as the rebels with .conan. then you can build forts and train units there.

Sahara province? I always thought it was there just to be t here, because you can't even do anything with it.

No, I don't have any cheats or mods, all I have added out-of-the-box is the 1.1 patch and it's there, I just can't get to it.

The Sahara is a disused province, it is disconnected from all other provinces and so cannot be reached. It can be enabled by modding the game. I have posted a guide to this over at the .org
