what's a map is it ? very strange indeed.... especially Caucasus region.
Yes, that is why I ask for help here.
The countries/cities there are from BI/icetourge warmap and do not fit
the 840AC, but I don't have good maps of that aera.
(the map given shall only show you how much my mod map spans)
So I wondered if your historians here have some links to maps on the net for me.
(I edited the help request-title a bit, so it might be more clear now)

840AD? So then the Abbasids were at their height:

That should help. And it should be "Al-Fustat" instead of Cairo at this time.

Thank you very much mirage41!
Looks I can remove some countries in Morocco then. :hmmm:
A game with the Abbasids at their might, thats like, the whole FRICKEN world!! You better get my attention quick Mirage, this mod could be good!
I actually thought of that before picking BC's era. Needless to say such a period allows for very very few factions and cuts out many popular factions (koj, armenia, georgia). Very limited era, basically amount to a "byzanto-arab wars" mod. (thats assuming of course you don't focus on europe)
Yes, sadly the RTW/BI Viking Invasion focuses on Vikings, but since there where Viking raids even in the middle east
(-> Haraldr harğráği http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heimskringla ),
Arabs and Nordmanns conquering Sicily, also important battles with the Franks and Byzantines (incl. their Varangian/Viking guard),
I thought it should include (parts of) the Abbasid empire.
Detailed maps and help from Abbasid, Khazars and Al'Andalus experts is welcome to get the borders, cities correct and later the units too.
So I hope it was ok to post a help request here.

Sorta. Armenia is independent of the Caliphate and byzantines come the mid 9th century... quoth wiki:Ashot I was the first Bagratid King, the founder of the Royal dynasty. He was recognized as prince of princes by the court at Baghdad in 861, which provoked war with local Arab emirs. Ashot won the war, and was recognized as King of the Armenians by Baghdad in 885. Recognition from Constantinople followed in 886.

Few factions isn't necassarily a bad thing (when you think of faction limit). I mean look at RTW BI... the world just felt so full just because there were a couple of factions that had large territories (and the low province count).
A low faction count lets you script in lots of emerging(the independent kind) and lots of rebelious (like split offs or the generic faction x rebels type).
So... at the very least it will offer different gameplay.
Err, not exactly. Remember that before Ashot came around, his father, Bagrat, had already established Armenia's de facto independence. They don'ttalk about him on wiki at all for some reason, butI did learn about him in school.Sorta. Armenia is independent of the Caliphate and byzantines come the mid 9th century... quoth wiki:
