I fail to see the need of an act. I think that there is nothing wrong with an alliance between parties, secret or open. Parties should ally with who they want for any agenda. This alliance gives both the populares and Optimates a chance of implementing and working together. If the table were turned you would defend yourself like I am.

If you make this passed, what about the middle sized party? They will have the least power. The party with the second most votes has less power than the least votes. This is a ridiculous idea. Under these conditions the smaller moderate party would have a position while my party would have to win votes to get ANY power.

I have served out my last tour of duty as Senior Consul, here is my report:

I have defeated a large Macedonian army outside of Patavium, the 2nd, 4th and 5th Legio Italica were involved in this Battle.

The Battle of Edrianus

A received news that a dissatisfied Roman has marched to Rome with a small war band (more then likely that the poor man was upset with the Party Alliance issues), the 2nd Decius was immediately sent south to put down the rebellion.

The Battle of Sutri

In other news, it appears we are the wealthiest people from sunrise to sunset.

This is my last report as Consul, and my last act as Consul, it has been a pleasure serving the Republic.

Ave senators, I would like to make an amendment to the Lex Diplomatica, Section 2.1.1, Cassus Belli, of you will allow me explain and put it to a Vote.

Votes that should be taken into account for declaring war to an menacing nation should be the ones of the Senators present on the Senate hall.

I propose that that a Senate "session" be 24 hours of the presentation of a Cassus Belli motion.

If up to this 24 hours 7 votes are cast in favour or less then 7 votes are cast and no negative votes are presented, the motion must be considered approved and our beloved Consul sent to fulfill his civic duties on the battlefield.

What you say, fellow Fathers of home? In times of dare need, theres no room to infinite debate while the enemies of Rome gathers at our gates.

<occ to make the life of the owner of the save easier to continue gameplay, so to dont wait forever to a decision if Senators are unable to follow the debate in the proper timing>

This motion does sound sensible. However, the seriousness of a Cassus Belli motion works both ways. Though speed is of the essence, it is also such an important decision that each senator should have his say.

We usually consider a vote of at least 8 passed, and if the vote is too close to call it is extended. Its all in the rules.

Excellent job, Consul Ancus. I am very relieved that the Macedonians were crushed with low casualties on our part. I hope the few surviving Macedonians run in terror to Thessalonica as fast as they can so all of Macedonia will know what happens to those who hurt Rome.

It also pleases me to see that we are extremely rich. Maybe we can give some of that money to our veterans after the Gallic Tribes are destroyed. We should reward our veterans one way or another.

If I may say so, you have granted us many victories against the Gauls, and I hope you are rewarded with some military honor.
