When localized versions will come out ? I have my game in french, and if I have to do the same work that you already done, just to have it compatible with the french version, that will be really long :/
Excuse my bad english, I'm french

Sorry about the delay. I want to finish Xenophonia 2.0 before making localized versions. The reason is because as it is now, every change I make to the English version must also be made to the localized versions. I want to make 2.0 "bug-free" first. I should be done by next weekend.

Will xenophonia include ALL the prebattle speech (149 for each language I believe) or will it only include the 49 "oneliner" ? What full localized versions are released ? English, french, german, but is there spanish, italian, russian etc ?

Hm, well, some languages don't have 149 lines because there aren't any samples. I fixed Russian so it uses all its pre-battle speeches for 2 beta - it used to only have one-liners - but some languages, like "Danish" and "Native" (for the Native Americans) only have one-liners. French has more than just one-liners but not as many as German and English.

The reason why localization is taking so long is, like I said, that I want to make 2 beta bug-free first. I'm currently learning how to program and have already made 2 tools which will make making Xenophonia and finding its bugs a lot easier (but one of them is pretty buggy in itself, so I need to fix that before it can be of any help, haha). I can make another tool that checks if all pre-battle subtitle files are actually being used in the game. Comparing lists of hundreds of lines of text is so time consuming and boring. Programming is fun.

EDIT: Whoops, it looks like I'm missing some files! Do you think you could send them to me? Download the I'm attaching to this message...

Place this file in your M2TW folder and upzip. Now run "extract sounds.bat" and wait for it to finish. Go to your M2TW\data\sounds\Voice\Human\Localized\Pre_Battle_Speech\ folder and search for French_Situation and French_Troops. Put all the files you find into a zip file and send it to me. If you don't know how I'll tell you (but then tell me how big the zip is).

by "What full localized versions are released ?" I meant, by CA. I know there is english, french and german, but what about the others ? Only to know what is in, and what is not... as the 149 files lol, and to know what language can be taken directly from an original version. Isn't there any Italian version ??

Edit : There isn't these files, only enemy, extros, intros, one_liner and terrain (149 files instead 281 for england, ******ing translators !)

... I do. And for Sicily.

Are you sure those files don't exist? I have the subtitles document from the French version of the game, and it contains this:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    ¬
A l'assaut !
{Arabic_One_Liner_31}A l'assaut, braves soldats !
A l'assaut!
    {English_One_Liner_31}A l'assaut, soldats !
A l'assaut !
A l'assaut!
Voici l'ignoble Turc ! Dieu bénira notre usage de l'épée aujourd'hui ! A l'assaut !
{French_Extros_16_2}Vous me connaissez.
A l'assaut !
{French_Intro_4_1}Fort bien.
Prenez vos armes ! Nostre-Dame !
{French_One_Liner_19}Criez, preux Français, faites entendre votre clameur ! La bataille promet d'être belle !
{French_One_Liner_2}Qu'importe ce qu'il adviendra ce jour, nos noms seront admirés partout où la bravoure a un sens !
{French_One_Liner_20}Je veux voir nos ennemis être la proie des corbeaux avant la fin de ce jour ! Aux armes, braves Français !
{French_One_Liner_21}Grande envie me prend de railler l'ennemi !
A l'assaut !
L'ennemi n'a point d'unités lourdes.
{German_Enemy_10_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our enemies today are Danes, a people as cold and unlovable as their bleak land, and as cruel as the northern seas. Anyone who falls into their hands can expect but a scant token of God's mercy.
{German_Enemy_10_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The scrofulous Danes are not fit enemies for you, men, but do not let pity weaken you. Cut them down when the time comes, and God will thank you for it.
{German_Enemy_11_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes today are dangerous and mad in equal measure. The hot sun bakes madness into many creatures - especially Egyptians. Watch them closely and beware their tricks.
{German_Enemy_12_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes today are masters of falsehood and trickery. These Egyptians doubtless have plans to win the day, but they are fools to believe that they can prevail against brave men.
{German_Enemy_12_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our Egyptian foes should pray to their God - shortly they will be judged before him. We will send them all to Heaven or Hell soon enough.
{German_Enemy_13_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Scotsmen! There is no creature on earth as low and vile as a Scotsman, save an Englishman. That they both come from the same dank and dismal island is enough to damn them all in my eyes. The pox take the lot of them - or failing that, our swords.
{German_Enemy_14_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Your Scotsman fights well, and looks like a man but I ask you to consider that any people who make a virtue of playing the bagpipes should be despised and killed, if only to save our hearing.
{German_Enemy_14_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those Scots over there need to be killed. But we do them a kindness because that way they escape their shrieking, shrill and horrid wives - women better suited to gutting fish than pleasing men.
{German_Enemy_15_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those heathen Aztecs yonder are children. Aye, the children of the Devil himself, for none but Satan would have spawned such a brood of murderers and sinners. Kill them now, and save yourselves.
{German_Enemy_16_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those Aztecs are bred from the blood of Cain, and they delight in bloody perversity and sin. No man who kills an Aztec here does any wrong in the sight of God or any honest man. He does only good.
{German_Enemy_16_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Today you will face cruel and pagan foes. Every one of these Aztecs that you cut down will cleanse a sin. Do not stay your hands.
{German_Enemy_17_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Look, you steadfast Germans and see - there is the loathsome Turk! God will bless our bloody work today in defending Christendom and the Empire against these fiends! They are servants of evil, so at them, and victory awaits.
{German_Enemy_18_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The Turks are cruel men, known throughout the world for their harsh ways. It is well that they meet justice at the hands of soldierly Germans. It is well that Imperial soldiers are here to strike them down and make safe our fatherland.
{German_Enemy_18_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes today are masters of cruelty. These Turks doubtless have plans to torture us all, but they are fools to believe that they can prevail against steel held in good German fists. Fools, but dangerous ones, and we do well to remember that too as we face them.
{German_Enemy_19_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I like not these Polish whoresons. They have a poxed, knavish and crooked look, and resemble pigs in armour more than men. Be careful that they do not bite you, stout-hearted soldiers.
{German_Enemy_1_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The Venetians are the web-footed children of poisonous frogs and sea eels. We do not need to fear them!
{German_Enemy_20_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These Poles are more than half wolf, methinks. And like wolves everywhere, they deserve to be hunted down and slain. Let's to the hunt, men!
{German_Enemy_20_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Men, these Poles lack all honour and martial quality that marks out a German. Let us treat them with the respect they merit and kill them, showing how sons of the Empire make war upon our enemies.
{German_Enemy_21_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Zounds! These French fools provoke a wrath in me that I cannot contain. From crown to soles, a Frenchman is an abomination - his taste in whores alone is enough to make a man wretch! I am glad that such creatures are our enemies, for business and pleasure can then mix.
{German_Enemy_22_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes, the French, it is said, are better lovers than they are fighters. This is true: ask any goat, pig, or other farmyard animal.
{German_Enemy_22_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our French foes hold us in scant regard, men. They treat duty and honour as things to be put aside, and cover their moral nakedness with words like "glory" and "France". They are not worthy foes for soldiers such as we.
{German_Enemy_23_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I have little time - and much hate - for the so-called Imperial knaves yonder. They dishonour everyone that carries the proud title of German. They pollute the land they walk upon, and their blood would poison even the wide sea. I would see them dead, and their carcasses heaped for burning.
{German_Enemy_24_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes march beneath a sacred banner, the flag of the Empire. And they sully it simply by their foul touch. They are not good German soldiers, they are not even good Germans, or honest men! They are worms, to be trodden underfoot and fed to carrion crows.
{German_Enemy_24_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Over there stand Germans who have been mislead by their lords and betters. They think themselves right in their cause, and worthy men as a result. Well, I say that they are scum and deserve nothing but contempt and punishment for their presumption in even being here.
{German_Enemy_25_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: An Englishman is a mongrel creature: part French, part almost-decent Saxon, part sheep ... and all utter bastard. If an Englishman could point to his father with certainty, I'd fall off my horse in shock. Still, that's what we have to fight.
{German_Enemy_26_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: To be called an "English soldier" is to be called nothing. A man cannot be English and call himself a soldier. He can be English and call himself a drunkard - or a sheep. So - those creatures are our enemies.
{German_Enemy_26_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I spy an English army over there. At least, I assume it an English army, for I can think of no other people who think it necessary to reek like an alehouse privy! Even a Frenchman has more pride than that.
{German_Enemy_27_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: God's blood! My codpiece swells as I think upon the Hungarian dead who will soon litter this field. I would have you, as good, honest Germans put aside any soft feelings of mercy, and strike them with all the vigour and iron in your souls. I would see not a one left alive.
{German_Enemy_28_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These Hungarians make a brave show, but then apes can be trained to do remarkable things. Appearance is hardly enough when it comes to battle, especially when they face the true substance of warriorhood in you, my brave Germans.
{German_Enemy_28_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our Hungarian foes should never have left the stables where they were birthed. The reek of horse dung suits them better than the honest air of a battlefield. We will shortly geld them and break them, or I am no true servant of the Empire.
{German_Enemy_29_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our Mongol foes have the shape of men, but not men as we are! They are Satan's tools, made from horse dung in imitation of God's handiwork with Adam. And in fighting them, we do God's work, protecting all good people from their unholy savagery. Show no mercy, for they will certainly show none to you.
{German_Enemy_2_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those Venetians can count money faster than a Hamburg fishwife. Let's see how fast they count their dead.
{German_Enemy_2_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes don't look much like soldiers - more like a bunch of bankers, in fact. But then the loot from their corpses will be worth all our trouble.
{German_Enemy_30_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our Mongol enemies today think themselves to be great warriors. And perhaps they are, according to their lights. Well, I say they have met their match in you, brave Imperial soldiers.
{German_Enemy_30_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I do not think honest soldiers for the Empire like us should feel anything other than pity when they see our Mongol foes - pity for the horses having to support such bony arses.
{German_Enemy_31_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These Byzantines are hardly fit enemies for honest soldiers of the Empire. Our foes today are a bunch of backstabbing knaves and conspiratorial liars. I can think of no people in Christendom less honest.
{German_Enemy_32_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These Byzantine fools are less than worthy foes - they should go back to their whoremongering and leave soldiering to men who know their business.
{German_Enemy_32_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes, the foul Byzantines, cannot be trusted by plain-speaking Germans. Keep your wits about you, men, and strike as soon as the opportunity presents.
{German_Enemy_33_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes today are Moors, which means that they are all heathens and godless loons. Killing them is a duty and a pleasure for soldiers of our Holy Empire.
{German_Enemy_34_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: By Saint Michael, those Moorish madmen over there have a peculiar reek. That's the stench of the heathen mixed with the smell of the camels that they love. No nosegay could mask that, and I fear all the beer in our camp may be soured by it.
{German_Enemy_34_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: If our Moorish foes had any sense they would flee back to the scorpions and snakes that fathered them. For shame, they would not face the poorest Bohemian peasant, lest steadfast men-at-arms such as you.
{German_Enemy_35_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The Russian peasants we face today will rue the day they were born. Those that are not slain must be driven back to their wild motherland with such tales of woe and blood that the word "German" will loosen bowels for a hundred years.
{German_Enemy_36_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our Russian foes should never have left their hovels to fight against an Imperial army. They will think kindly of their masters' whips by the time we are done with them - those that still have brains intact within their ugly heads.
{German_Enemy_36_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Over there is a Russian army, men who have almost certainly run away from their womenfolk. And who would not, for Russian women are bear-like in manner and looks. We should give thanks that we live in an Empire blessed with good looking wives - even if they are usually married to someone else.
{German_Enemy_37_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Here you face a Spanish army full of mewling, over-pious fools and milksops. They spend too long on their knees to be good fighters, and lack all the iron that makes Imperial soldiers. I hate them with a passion, and it will be my pleasure to lead you to victory!
{German_Enemy_38_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: God has created two sorts of men: Spaniards and those who kill Spaniards. God loves only the killers of Spaniards, so by Saint George let us serve God and be loved for it.
{German_Enemy_38_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Your Spanish enemies are proud, perhaps too proud. In this place I mean to see them humbled and cut down to size. We'll see how these over-proud Iberians like the taste of German steel.
{German_Enemy_39_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: By Saint George! I mean to see these Portuguese vagabonds humbled, and their banners trampled beneath my feet. Their fish-faced ways offend me and I suspect offend their wives too. God's blood, would you want to sleep with something that miserable?
{German_Enemy_3_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: God's wounds! I don't know who smells worse - our foppish Milanese enemies or their repulsive womenfolk.
{German_Enemy_40_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I apologise for the smell of our Portuguese enemies: fish guts and their own vomit! The one is because that is their trade, the other because they lack all courage. I suspect their smell has been not improved by the knowledge that they face Imperial men-at-arms.
{German_Enemy_40_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Cheer, servants of the Empire, cheer and put fear in the hearts of the fish-reeking enemy. That way, they'll be less inclined to dispute our right to victory, because these Portuguese are fishermen, not soldiers.
{German_Enemy_41_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Rebels are an offence in the sight of God. They turn upon their own kind and their own masters. They turn upon the natural order of the world, and they turn against God. They deserve nothing but death.
{German_Enemy_42_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes are rebels and traitors, and deserve nothing but the edge of a blade upon their stinking necks. And a sword is a merciful end to them, for they should face the gallows.
{German_Enemy_42_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These rebellious knaves and villains are not fit to breathe the same air as we honest Germans. They must all die before dawn comes again; this is a mercy, because they richly deserve the gallows for turning against their betters.
{German_Enemy_43_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These children of Timur are foul beasts, fit only to live in wastelands and, perhaps, stables. On the other hand, why should we upset valuable horses by letting them into stables? We need only kill them to make God's world a better place.
{German_Enemy_44_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Cheer your hearts out, and show these Timurid beasts what Germans sound like when their blood is hot! Soon, they will feel the righteous strength of Imperial arms.
{German_Enemy_44_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These horse-lovers are not fit enemies for you, but they are the best that I can do today. I'm sure you will do your utmost, as dutiful Imperial soldiers, to kill them anyway.
{German_Enemy_4_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those fops from Milan think that they are soldiers! I laugh at such an idea, for they can barely lift a bag of money, let alone a sword.
{German_Enemy_4_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those Milanese are good with money. It will help them when they count their dead, but will it help their womenfolk with the mourning?
{German_Enemy_5_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those Sicilians are like Englishmen: they come from a nasty little island, enjoy the company of sheep, and need trimming a little with a broadsword.
{German_Enemy_6_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those Sicilians are both treacherous and cruel. I'm told, though, that they have no true courage. This will be the work of minutes, I'm sure.
{German_Enemy_6_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those Sicilians are the servants of Satan. The Devil must be scraping the barrel to use such as them. Let us return them to their master.
{German_Enemy_7_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This is an unholy day - that we should have to fight honest men who listen to the falsehoods of lying prelates, toadying cardinals, and an anti-Christ Pope.
{German_Enemy_8_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The Anti-Christ has sent his soldiers against us. Let us hope that God is merciful to men lead astray so badly by wicked creatures of Satan!
{German_Enemy_8_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These Papal servants make a brave show, but that is not enough against the likes of us. False prayers will not turn aside our swords.
{German_Enemy_9_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Lord God preserve us! These Danes are a foul folk, cold-hearted as fish and as cruel as the dark seas that surround their homeland. If these dullards take pleasure in anything, it is in the suffering of honest men. As honest men it follows, then, that it is our duty to slay them.
{German_Extros_10_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so to battle. Our foes await, and after - there's beer. It has ... beer in it, I'm told.
{German_Extros_10_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And at the last - LOOK, DO YOU WANT A FIGHT? I could be raising a tankard or two, don't you know. Come on, come on, I don't want the ale to sour while we wait for you!
{German_Extros_10_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so at the last I say this to the enemy gener- GOD'S NIPPLES! Is the ale ALL gone? Who ... Who drank it?
{German_Extros_11_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And think on this: I am a well-read man. I also have a very sharp sword. The two do not negate each other.
{German_Extros_11_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And at the last, I will point out that learning is an accomplishment in a gentleman - and I am learned. Yet I account myself a gentleman in the round: I can swing a sword and mount a charger. Worry not about your commander. He knows his duty!
{German_Extros_12_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now that all is said, go and kill those sausage-gobbling, bag-waggling, whoreson doxy-thrashers!
{German_Extros_12_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now, to your duties. Those poxed, hag-born, codpiece ends and slattern-fondlers need killing. Go to it!
{German_Extros_13_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And when all is done, I will have my pick of the enemy women, although I fear that I will have little joy in it. I do not usually care to bed cabbages and turnips! I generally prefer something more ... jiggly!
{German_Extros_13_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And if you should happen to come across a lady in need of my protection - send her to my tent after the fighting! Battle gives me two things: a powerful thirst ... and a thrusting appetite!
{German_Extros_14_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so we go to battle! We band of brothers will go on to a great victory for the Empire! And when we have won that victory, we will drink until all grief is drowned in a sea of good ale!
{German_Extros_14_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: If God wills it, I will die content here, for I have fought besides the finest soldiers in the world. I would be in no other place, and have no other friends than good Germans and good soldiers of the Empire. But talk of death is too soon - I would rather share the honour of this battle with you, brave Germans.
{German_Extros_15_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Unkind souls have called me mad, but I am not. It is true that I did think I was French, but now I am mostly better - my morbid fear of garlic is no hindrance to high command! All right - let's to the fight!
{German_Extros_15_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And at the last, I tell you my madness is much reduced. My presentment that we are as chess pieces moved about for the amusement of strangely garbed darkling creatures was entirely mistaken! I feel much recovered in my wits!
{German_Extros_15_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And remember, the enemy march between glittering banners, given to them by the King of Elvenfolk, but I have a secret whistle that shrivels all Faerie stuff. Isn't that nice? Do you feel safer now? I do!
{German_Extros_16_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I have fought long and hard in the service of Our Lord. My sins have long since been washed away in battle fighting His enemies and those of Mother Church. This battle will wash away your sins too, if you fight with courage and with the Lord's name on your lips!
{German_Extros_16_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: You know me. I have slain many heretics, pagans, heathens and malefactors for our Mother Church. I stand with you now as a man of war, your general, who would lead you to another victory in God's name. So let us go forth and conquer!
{German_Extros_16_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And finally, I tell you that I have fought many battles. I face this one with the knowledge that I have followed the Cross and done God's work. Because I have done that, He will not allow me to face defeat! Victory is ours - for it is in the gift of our Lord!
{German_Extros_1_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And at the last, I have no more words, save that I want them all dead, dead, DEAD! Dead as a Frenchman's honour!
{German_Extros_1_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so to it! God knows I want nothing more than those bastards dead at my feet! GAHHHAHAR!
{German_Extros_20_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Now kneel, bow your heads to your Saviour and look only to God to grant us victory. Only with His aid can the Empire surely triumph.
{German_Extros_20_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now I trust my life to God, for I know our Imperial cause is true and just. So pray, you brave fools, and make sure God knows you think the same.
{German_Extros_20_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now any man here who is not praying for our victory had better make his peace with God, for he'll find none with me or in any Imperial lands hereafter. Now bring me my broadsword, then let me kiss our holy banner. I place my fate in the hands of the Lord.
{German_Extros_21_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now all is said! Let's to it pell-mell - and send our enemies to fry in Hell!
{German_Extros_22_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now, let's to the foe! I feel hungry already, and war gives me an excessive appetite! Let's to the battle, and then the feast!
{German_Extros_23_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Now lift your banners and march away - to glory, good Germans, and a bloody day!
{German_Extros_24_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now, put your trust in good steel and duty. Then let us see what God intends.
{German_Extros_25_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so make your peace with God and your fellows. Do not brood on what is to come. Raise high the Imperial banner! Go with God!
{German_Extros_2_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now to battle! I will have each man do his duty - and this includes silence rather than idle gossip. Those who speak of my leadership are only the most turnip-headed of knaves. And such turnips, sooner or later, are boiled - in their own lard.
{German_Extros_2_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And at the last, I will have you carry out my plans to perfection. I will not spend time fruitlessly thinking up cunning stratagems for you soldiers to bugger them up. Do not let the Empire down. Do not let me down!
{German_Extros_2_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And at the last, I'll have nothing more said about my skill as a general. I am an Imperial general. If you do not accept that, then you must be some kind of poxed Frenchman. Saint Michael will rightly see that you go to Hell. Now cheer, and put some fear into the foe!
{German_Extros_3_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now, I beseech you, listen well to orders. That simple matter, Imperial fortitude and duty will see all well.
{German_Extros_3_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now, we come to battle. I remind you that it is a soldier's duty to obey orders, from time to time. I do not shout because I love the sound of my own voice! I would have some orders obeyed. Sometimes.
{German_Extros_4_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now I would be at the enemy. Duty calls me. Death calls me. I have not decided what calls loudest. Do not, therefore, make excessive noise near me!
{German_Extros_4_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And at last, I tell you I know there is the Northman in all Germans! Our bloody-handed ancestors sacrificed men to appease the Gods! We have rightly put aside paganism, but by God, our forefathers knew how to fight! So - DEATH TO OUR FOES! ARRRGHGHGHH!
{German_Extros_5_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And at the last, I say that I would see blood spilled. I would see blood in abundance. I would wade in the sweet stuff. I would prefer enemy blood, mind. So march on!
{German_Extros_5_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now, I have a taste for blood. I have an appetite for their blood - I thirst for it! I would have it in tun-loads! So - AT THEM, GOOD GERMANS!
{German_Extros_6_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so, let's get on with it then. Yes, that would be the best thing. Do your duty and suchlike. Yes. Erm, that's the lot really. I hope I've raised your spirits a bit with these few words. Yes. Well. Let's get on...
{German_Extros_7_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: So we come to it! By Saint Michael, there's nothing so becoming a man in battle as duty. And as Imperial soldiers, you should know your duty! It will pass for true bravery until the real thing comes to you! Now march on with me!
{German_Extros_7_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now we come to the moment! I am accounted valiant within the Empire, and do not willing keep counsel with cowards. But fie! I see none when I look at you! So now we march!
{German_Extros_7_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now, noble Germans, look to your duty - and smile! If you die, you die in the company of friends. No man can ask for a better end than that! It follows that worry and fear are needless burdens, and can be left behind! I do not march with them, and am considered a brave man. So, advance as I do!
{German_Extros_8_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so good soldiers, march away! My duties here will delay me until the battle is properly joined. But once the crisis comes, you'll see that I am a man of many parts and will be everywhere, and nowhere, at once. Now, march away!
{German_Extros_8_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: By Saint Michael! A cunning plan has come to me! I shall await events here, good soldiers, and act as a reserve, ready to fall upon the foe like an avenging angel. Or, mayhap, I will be ready to fall back and secure our rear, should that be needful.
{German_Extros_8_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And remember, no man who does his duty is a coward! My duties are onerous and many, and leave no time for thoughts of cowardice! So march away, and think only of the Empire now!
{German_Extros_9_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And remember - by Saint Michael I will have all duties done according to the rules of war. We will shame our opponents with our good Imperial order! Now cheer, and affright them! Cheer!
{German_Extros_9_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I am proud of the fact that there is no harder task master in the Empire than I. Men faint like ladies when I exercise command over them, and I would have it no other way. I will have absolute obedience - that will bring victory. Now: cheer!
{German_Intro_10_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This is a glorious moment in the history of the Empire. Here we dutiful Germans will write a new page of the Imperial chronicles, a page where we will live forever, remembered and honoured down through the years, celebrated in tavern song and bawdy tales. And that's just if we die here.
{German_Intro_11_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I will not lie to you. Battle is a dangerous thing, and we may go now to glory or to our doom. Now, I tell you that it is my duty to make sure that we have victory here, just as it is yours to fight. If God wills it, I will give you glory. Doom can take those other fellows.
{German_Intro_11_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: It is not my way to send men into needless peril during battle. But I do expect you to do your duty, as I will do mine. If all do their duty then the Empire will have a victory here. Now, let's to other matters.
{German_Intro_11_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so we come to the hour of battle. I will give you victory - if you have the guts to fight like Imperial soldiers when I ask it! I will not ask men to die needlessly - I will throw no lives away. But I do expect each man to do his part. Victory will be the reward.
{German_Intro_12_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so to battle. I must tell you that being killed will damage your chances of promotion - ha! I do like my little jokes, I fear - but when this is all over we'll drink to victory. I'm sure a few peasants can be set to cleaning up the field while we enjoy our inevitable triumph.
{German_Intro_13_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: By Saint Michael, I am in two minds about this battle. Good arguments have been advanced as to our many strategies. There is much to say for all of them. I have it in mind to sit for a while and see how the battle develops. No harm can come to our Imperial cause from a little caution, sensibly applied.
{German_Intro_14_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: By Saint Michael, this moment is worth savouring! Our duty now is clear. We have put our faith in God. We face a foe to test our mettle. I stand before a magnificent company of Imperial soldiers. All that can be done is done, and only battle remains. Look to your arms, and prepare your souls.
{German_Intro_15_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We know that peril is close by, but we take up the sword and buckle on our armour. We look to Saint Michael to guide our blows true. But I do them with a glad heart because I am surrounded by Imperial soldiers - lions among lesser men.
{German_Intro_16_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Pray now for intercession of the Saint Michael for our Imperial cause. If you ride a horse, add a prayer to Saint Martin to your devotions. And if any of you should see a black cat nearby, throw a stone at Satan's familiar and drive away the bad luck it will surely bring.
{German_Intro_17_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Why are there no other men as good as we Germans? What was God thinking when he ordered things so? I ask because the sight of leprous foreigners always upsets my digestion.
{German_Intro_1_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: There are some pigs and knaves who doubt my leadership. I will waste no breath in argument, but instead I will point to the enemy dead, when we have won the coming battle.
{German_Intro_1_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Doubt has been expressed about my abilities as a general! We'll hear no more such talk! I have it in mind to win a great victory and that will not come about if such witless fools are allowed to spread falsehoods and lies.
{German_Intro_1_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I have heard that I do not have the ability to herd pigs, let alone command an army. I smile at such brave talk - aye, smile as I sharpen my sword! But this is where such idle gossip ends! On this field my run of luck changes, and we march to victory!
{German_Intro_20_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Cry unto the heavens, soldiers! Let God and Saint Michael hear your righteous voices! Beg for the strength to master this enemy, for we have righteousness in our Imperial cause. And when you have done that, take up your swords, and be armoured in faith!
{German_Intro_20_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The love of God is a thousand times stronger than any mortal armour! His wrath against our foes is a thousand times better than a thousand arrows. Our faith gives us his aid, and more - it will give us victory! Now, cry "Saint Michael" and look for that victory.
{German_Intro_20_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes are ungodly beasts, and so we are but the swords in the hands of the hosts of Heaven! We do God's glorious work and if we fall, we do so in His cause! If we triumph, we do so because He has willed an Imperial victory! Now, bow your heads, then let's to the appointed task!
{German_Intro_21_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This battle is your chance, good soldiers of the Empire, to gentle your condition. A few moments of blood, and duty done. Then all can be yours when we have victory! Loot, women, drink, good food, honour, glory, knighthood - each a fine reward, but together they are unsurpassed.
{German_Intro_22_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Through Saint Michael's intercession we have been brought to this place, brought here to fight for God's glory and in His name. Our enemies must quail at the thought of our German might! We would do well to pray because the shedding of blood is an offence, but it is one that we willingly do - for by it, we establish God's peace! We do this for the Empire and God.
{German_Intro_23_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Well here is a thing of glory! We have a foe worth the killing, and good Germans beside me who wait upon their orders. I also feel an inspiring speech coming on! So listen to me now, listen to me.
{German_Intro_24_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I have brought you here to fight! I brought you here because you are duty-bound Germans, and no enemy looks on you without fear. I promise nothing save a hard struggle! But would you have me tell you anything else? Would you have me pour honeyed words into your ears? I thought not.
{German_Intro_2_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: A German's honour and duty should be the same thing. And here, duty should mean obedience. I will have that obedience on this field, else my wrath will fall upon the miscreants. I would not use the whip, but I will if needs must.
{German_Intro_3_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Duty has brought me here, despite the many wounds that I have suffered and the scars that I bear. Duty to the Empire, and to you, my fine soldiers. I mean to lead you to victory, if God wills it.
{German_Intro_4_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Well, yes, then. It's time and we must all do our best and try not to die too horribly. So let's try to do this with some old fashioned German order in our ranks. Yes. Order. And a sense of duty. And be resolute, because you're good, honest, stout-hearted German soldiers. That was the other thing - remember the Empire! Oh, Yes.
{German_Intro_5_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I am known for my bravery, a honour indeed among the brave German people! But I also know my duty - and here that is to lead you to victory. That, or a valiant end, but I would prefer victory.
{German_Intro_5_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: In war there's nothing so becoming as valour. Fear is not an impediment to bravery, for any man in battle without some fear is simple. To be brave is to go forward, to face the enemy, to beat him, no matter how frightened. That is why we will go forwards, as good servants of the Empire.
{German_Intro_6_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Duty is a terrible burden for a leader. And my burden today is to remain here, poised for action and ready to contain any sudden crisis. Do not presume that a sudden crisis will necessarily be visible to all - judging the moment is one of the arts of command.
{German_Intro_6_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Duty sometimes demands sacrifices, and here my duty is clear. I will make every effort to secure our rear, thus sacrificing my own chances of glory. You, brave Imperial soldiers, will go forward and carry the battle - and fortunately without me bellowing distracting commands from time to time.
{German_Intro_7_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Duty and discipline are the two things that separate an army from a rabble. We are an Imperial army. We should - we will - have both qualities in abundance. I have spoken.
{German_Intro_8_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: It is an honour to be thought a well-educated man. Our Empire is, after all, the refuge of Roman wisdom! But I tell you that in all my studies, I have never encountered the like of our foes. They would fill bestiaries as yet unwritten, and good scholars would blush to record their perversities.
{German_Intro_9_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We Germans know a thing or two about tosspots and piss-a-bed nun-fanciers. After all, we have Bohemians to look down upon. But I did not know until now there was a race of goat-sucker and doxy-poxed loons who used fishes' arses in place of their heads.
    {German_One_Liner_1}Sortez l'étendard ! L'ennemi doit savoir qui s'apprête à l'occire ! Qu'il tremble devant la bannière impériale !
    {German_One_Liner_10}Tuez-les ! Navrez-les, pour l'Empire et saint Michel !
{German_One_Liner_11}Voici vos ennemis !
A l'assaut !
A l'assaut !
{German_One_Liner_5}Rallions-nous au cri de "Pour le Saint-Empire ! Pour le Saint-Empire et saint Michel !"
    {German_One_Liner_6}Soldats, l'heure a sonné ! Remettez-vous-en à vos armes ! Remettez-vous-en à vos coeurs ! En avant !
{German_One_Liner_7}Du courage, preux Germains. Gott hilf uns ! Que l'ennemi trépasse, et que nous vivions !
{German_One_Liner_8}Vous combattez pour l'Empire, beaucoup est attendu de vous. Et vous ferez beaucoup !
{German_One_Liner_9}Nous sommes des soldats impériaux ! Nous ne nous inclinons devant personne, surtout pas devant ce tas de brigands en guenilles !
{German_Situation_10_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Fully half of our army is here. You are a mighty force, made even mightier by the aid of Saint George.
{German_Situation_10_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Beneath this Imperial banner stand half of all our soldiers. We cannot lose, for that would be a sore blow to our cause. Instead, let us do great deeds and be worthy of honour.
{German_Situation_11_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Today you are the largest of our armies in the field. The Empire expects great things of you, that you will win great glory and make this a day long remembered.
{German_Situation_11_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: You men are three-quarters of all Germans under arms. This is a terrible thing for an enemy to face, and your deeds will further sear this day into the memories of our enemies.
{German_Situation_12_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those men are a quarter of our foe's total strength. Think on that, for when they are dead the enemy will be massively weaker.
{German_Situation_12_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: With God's good graces, we shall strike down a quarter of our enemy's army today. "Courage" will be our watchword, "despair" theirs.
{German_Situation_13_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Fully half the enemy's strength is ranged against us. But I am not downhearted. The loss of so many will bring the enemy to their senses.
{German_Situation_13_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This battle means a lot to our enemies - that is why half of all their men stand over there today. So, we shall make them rue the day they came to meet battle-hardened Germans in combat.
{German_Situation_14_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This battle is a vital one to our enemies. Fully three-quarters of their soldiers oppose us. They fear Germans that much. Well, today they will learn there is folly in numbers.
{German_Situation_14_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Fully three in four of our foes stand before you. Shall we show them how bravely we Germans can fight, no matter who opposes us?
{German_Situation_15_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Here is where we stand. Here is where we live or die as Germans. Here is where we must turn the tide and triumph, or see our people crushed beneath a tyrant's heel. We must not fail.
{German_Situation_15_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Today will be a judgement on us all. If some of us die it will count for nought, as long as our Empire lives on. We cannot fail, if we do then all is lost. And you, my fine soldiers, will never let that happen.
{German_Situation_16_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This is the final dung-heap. Doubtless our foes will fight like cornered rats to keep their lives, but we must harden our hearts. Let your cry be 'no mercy' until they are utterly cast down.
{German_Situation_16_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We have driven the enemy back to his last bolt-hole. Now is the time for the last great attack, men. Now will German courage be rewarded with final victory.
{German_Situation_17_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We must not fail in this struggle, for if we do our allies will fail utterly. Imperial honour will count for little if we let our friends be destroyed.
{German_Situation_17_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our ally's cause hangs by a thread, and it is within our power to save them. This day we must fight like Germans - Germans of iron courage, forged in the fires of war.
{German_Situation_1_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We stand in defence of German lands - our homes - knowing that the enemy must not pass. This place is ours, and we will shed our blood to keep it so.
{German_Situation_1_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Remember that we cannot let one of those pigs in. Not a one. Any who enters must stay only to be meat for the carrion crows.
{German_Situation_2_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We stand before this city because our foes should have no peace - or, for that matter, homes. Why should we give them any safety in this world, when they are so manifestly undeserving? And when the city is ours, it will be the jewel in the Imperial sceptre.
{German_Situation_2_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We attack this city because we must, if our foe is to be broken. They must learn that the price of defiance is high - a home taken, loved ones lost. That this city would be a fine addition to the Empire is a fine bonus.
{German_Situation_3_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These walls are stout enough, if German hearts be true. Let no man think of anything but defiance of the foe, for none shall enter and live while I draw breath.
{German_Situation_3_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This fortress must be held against all the enemy's wiles and stratagems. We stand on these battlements and defy them all.
{German_Situation_4_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This fortress must be taken, no matter what opposition our foes offer. Let no man think of anything except breaching the walls, and raising our German banners on its towers.
{German_Situation_4_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We stand before mighty walls, but I am certain that we have the power to take them. Our foes would do well to throw open the gates and end this now - but they won't, of course.
{German_Situation_5_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I will not speak much about our situation. It is simple. God and our faith have brought us here, and now the faithful have great hopes for us. With their prayers, we can finish this crusade.
{German_Situation_5_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We have come a long way on crusade. Now we attack not for ourselves, but in God's name and for His Empire. We will triumph for that one reason: because we attack in His name.
{German_Situation_6_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Here we must make a stand, and hold our foe on this field. We must make them rue the day that they polluted our German soil. They must be broken utterly, lest they have the strength to attack your homes.
{German_Situation_6_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This is where we make sure that our foes come no further, where we safeguard our homes, cities and families - the Empire itself. We say to them: "this far, and no further."
{German_Situation_7_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Now is our chance, brave solders! One swift battle, and the road to plunder is open. If we brush aside this army there are no other defenders to hinder our march on the city.
{German_Situation_7_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The enemy must hold us here, or lose their lands. They will try their best, but lacking the raw courage of Germans they will fail.
{German_Situation_8_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This day will long be remembered, come what may. Men will say that here many Germans fought with courage, some died well - and they will drink a toast in memory of all that we do today. This is a day for true heroes.
{German_Situation_8_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: In years to come our bloody work will become the stuff of minstrels' tales. Any German who fights with me today need never have his courage or manhood doubted again. This is a day for heroes.
{German_Situation_9_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: You men represent fully one quarter of our forces, and our people expect great things of you. I know you will not disappoint.
{German_Situation_9_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We band of brothers are one-fourth of the Empire's soldiers. And thus we carry a heavy duty to our people, our King and our God.
{German_Terrain_1_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We stand today on high ground, a small advantage in battle. It is not one I intend to throw away.
{German_Terrain_1_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This ground suits my purpose. The enemy must climb to us, and tired men fight but poorly.
{German_Terrain_2_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The enemy stand on high ground, a small advantage and one we will ignore.
{German_Terrain_2_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The foe has chosen his ground well, and we must fight uphill today. This we will do.
{German_Terrain_5_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Here among the trees we should wait - and then strike the enemy from cover.
{German_Terrain_5_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: With luck, the enemy will attack us here, where we have the cover of the trees.
{German_Terrain_6_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Now, men, the enemy are cowering in the woods - and we must hunt them down like rabbits.
{German_Terrain_6_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our enemies are wise enough to hide in the woods, but that will not save them from we clever German huntsmen.
{German_Troops_10_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I have no intention of being nice to the enemy - we shall shoot them down in droves, if we can.
{German_Troops_10_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I see little reason to needlessly risk German lives today. Let us rain death upon our foes and let them struggle to come to grips with us.
{German_Troops_11_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Now - this will need courage. We must advance into a hail of missiles and then kill them. Still, this is a worthy thing for true Germans.
{German_Troops_11_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I see the foe dare not fight us man to man like decent Germans would do, but must rely on a woman's stratagem of throwing things at us.
{German_Troops_12_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our horsemen may not be of the greatest use in this fight - but we will need someone to ride down our foes eventually.
{German_Troops_12_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: There will be hard fighting as our horsemen must wait until the breach has been taken. But what glory for those foot soldiers who make the attack.
{German_Troops_12_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our army faces a hard fight. Our horsemen must stand idly by while others breach the walls and gain great honour in so doing.
{German_Troops_13_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Thanks be to Saint George - the Lord has clouded the thoughts of our enemies. They have brought too many horsemen to this battle.
{German_Troops_13_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The enemy have brought many cavalrymen to this siege. Are they truly as stupid as Polish woodsmen or is it some clever trick?
{German_Troops_13_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: By Saint Michael - the enemy are lead by idiots after all. To bring so many horsemen to a siege suggests a lack of wit - or a sense of cruel humour.
{German_Troops_14_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I fear that we will feel the lack of good German gunpowder today. And our foes have an ample supply of heavily armoured men.
{German_Troops_14_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: God's wounds! I see that our foes are amply supplied with heavily armoured troops. Would that we had some men with firelocks - we may feel their lack.
{German_Troops_15_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Luck is with us! The have heavily armoured soldiers, I see, but we have something to deal with them - handguns! Saint Barbara and gunpowder will blow them to Kingdom Come.
{German_Troops_15_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The foes' heavily armoured soldiers look pretty, but they are big fat targets for our handgunners! This is good news indeed.
{German_Troops_16_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Saint Barbara has aided us! I see the enemy have no soldiers with firearms. Our heavily armoured troops should do them much harm as a consequence.
{German_Troops_16_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our heavy troops should see good service, for I see that the enemy have no troops with firelocks or the like.
{German_Troops_17_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our armoured troops will need careful use today if they are not to be targets for the enemy handgunners - but with luck they should give a bloody account of themselves.
{German_Troops_17_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I see they have handgunners - we must take care, lest we provide them too many easy targets. Our heavy armoured troops should prepare themselves for dealing with these brimstone-reeking fools.
{German_Troops_18_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our handgunners should do good work here today - the Satanic smell alone should affright the enemy! And see - our foes lack armoured troops to attack the gunners with any safety.
{German_Troops_18_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Fortune favours the prepared even more than the brave! The foe lack heavily armoured soldiers, so our handgunners - with the aid of Saint Barbara - will do bloody work.
{German_Troops_19_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: God preserve me! I see that the enemy have brought firearms with them. A pity, for we lack the armour to deal with such soldiers without an overly risky attack.
{German_Troops_19_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The enemy have brought guns to this battle - guns, the weapons of cowards and women! But this may be tricky, for we have no heavily armoured troops to assault them directly.
{German_Troops_1_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The enemy horses may be a problem as we have few spearmen. But German iron will be the answer to their attacks.
{German_Troops_1_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes have the advantage in cavalry, and we lack spearmen. But if we are steadfast, their advantage will count for little.
{German_Troops_1_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our lack of spears must be made good by our courage and I see the enemy have many horsemen - all the better for them to run from us.
{German_Troops_2_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Do not fear their horsemen, for we are strongly provided with good horsemen of our own.
{German_Troops_2_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This is a fight for horsemen, for we and the enemy are well supplied with them. But lesser men will get to play their parts too.
{German_Troops_2_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our horsemen are equally matched, I see, but battle has never bothered Germans.
{German_Troops_3_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Now, spearmen, look to your front. Success hangs upon your courage as Germans - do not worry about the numbers of horsemen.
{German_Troops_3_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Steady your nerves, men, and stand fast. Our foes have cavalry, but no horsemen rides onto a German spear unless he is a madman.
{German_Troops_3_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Saint Michael be thanked - we are well provided with spears. Our foes' horsemen will do them little good.
{German_Troops_4_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We have an opportunity here, brave Germans. We can ride these fools down with impunity.
{German_Troops_4_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Trust our foes to come ill-prepared, for Saint Michael has clouded their minds. Well, we shall take advantage of their lack of spears, and use our horsemen to full advantage.
{German_Troops_4_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I do not intend to fight on the enemy's terms. Our horsemen give us an advantage - thanks to Saint Martin - that I will use to full effect.
{German_Troops_5_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: They have spearmen aplenty, but cunning and speed will defeat them. Our Imperial horsemen will prevail.
{German_Troops_5_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Stand fast, for any horseman under my command who rides down this enemy is a fool. Their spears are worthy of respect.
{German_Troops_5_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Caution must be one of our virtues - there are many spears in that army, and frontal attack by our horsemen would be foolish - even suicidal.
{German_Troops_6_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I see that the enemy have brought elephants with them. This may be troublesome, but iron courage is a good reply.
{German_Troops_6_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I see our foes have elephants. They may have some profit from this, but shortly we will dine on elephant sausage.
{German_Troops_6_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes doubtless think their elephants a great boon. We shall have to see about that, as I dislike great beasts wandering about my battlefields.
{German_Troops_7_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I see our foes have brought guns to this battle. Cannons smell fouler than Satan's farts and they can kill just as surely. We must deal with those shortly.
{German_Troops_7_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our enemy hope to blow us into the next world, I see, with their foul cannons. Saint Barbara preserve us from such a fate - let us hope that the barrels will split and visit hell-fire upon them.
{German_Troops_7_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The fire-and-brimstone smell from our enemies is not actually them, servants of Satan though they be. They have cannons among their ranks. German iron will answer them.
{German_Troops_8_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our elephants are a boon today, for I feel that the enemy may lack the wit and guts to deal with them properly.
{German_Troops_8_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Praise Saint Michael for our elephants. They are a useful tool in this fight, as the foe will find it hard to counter their strength.
{German_Troops_8_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Elephants, I see, are a useful addition to our ranks. The enemy will find it hard to counter them with the soldiers they have to hand.
{German_Troops_9_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our cannons will do bloody slaughter if the enemy are stupid enough to come within range. We can but hope they will be that useless.
{German_Troops_9_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: It's always disheartening to be fired on by cannons. I intend our enemies should learn this lesson well.
{German_Troops_9_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our cannons could be a great help in the fighting, if only we can get over the smell - a stink that is worthy of Satan's privates.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_10_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our enemies today are Danes, a people as cold and unlovable as their bleak land, and as cruel as the northern seas. Anyone who falls into their hands can expect but a scant token of God's mercy.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_10_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The scrofulous Danes are not fit enemies for you, men, but do not let pity weaken you. Cut them down when the time comes, and God will thank you for it.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_11_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes today are mad, bad and dangerous in equal measures. The sun of their homeland has baked their brains for many generations, producing a tendency to dark cunning in all Egyptian progeny. Watch them closely, and beware of their trickery.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_12_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes today are crack-brained, it is true, but they are masters of deceit. These Egyptians doubtless scheme and hope to win the day, but they are fools to assume that our honour is to be cheaply overthrown.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_12_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our Egyptian foes should look to the state of their souls in the last few moments of life left to them. Shortly they will be judged by whatever God they worship when our swords send them screaming into the afterlife.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_13_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Scotsmen! There is no creature on earth as low and vile as a Scotsman, save an Englishman. That they both come from the same dank and dismal island is enough to damn them all in my eyes. The pox take the lot of them - or failing that, our swords.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_14_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Your Scotsman fights well, and looks like a man but I ask you to consider that any people who make a virtue of playing the bagpipes should be despised and killed, if only to save our hearing.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_14_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those Scots over there need to be killed. But we do them a kindness because that way they escape their shrieking, shrill and horrid wives - women better suited to gutting fish than pleasing men.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_15_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those heathen Aztecs yonder are children. Aye, the children of the Devil himself, for none but El Diablo would have spawned such a brood of murderers and sinners. Kill them now, and save yourselves.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_16_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those Aztecs are bred from the blood of Cain, and they delight in bloody perversity and sin. No man who kills an Aztec here does any wrong in the sight of God or any honest man. He does only good.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_16_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Today you will face cruel and pagan foes. Every one of these Aztecs that you cut down will cleanse a sin. Do not stay your hands.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_17_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Look, you noble heroes, look to your fronts: there is the loathsome Turk! God will bless our bloody work today! At them, and victory awaits.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_18_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The Turks are cruel men, known throughout the world for their harsh ways. It is well that they meet justice at the hands of soldiers such as you brave fellows.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_18_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes today are masters of cruelty. These Turks doubtless have plans to torture us all, but they are fools to believe that they can prevail against the noble-hearted, such as you worthy men.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_19_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I do not like the look of these Poles. They have a poxed and moonstruck look about them, so be careful that they do not bite you, O bravest of soldiers.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_1_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those Venetians have a fat look to their bellies and their purses. In a few moments, we'll stab both and let out a little bile and a lot of gold. Letting out some of their gold is a kindness, for a rich man can hardly enter the Kingdom of God.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_20_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These Poles are more than half wolf, methinks. And like wolves everywhere, they deserve to be hunted down and slain. Let's to the hunt, men!
{Mediterranean_Enemy_20_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Lads, these Poles lack courage and spirit - so let us not treat them with any great respect. Let us kill them cleanly, and show them how honest, plain soldiers make war.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_21_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Zounds! These French fools provoke a wrath in me that I cannot contain. From crown to soles, a Frenchman is an abomination - his taste in whores alone is enough to make a man wretch! I am glad that such creatures are our enemies, for business and pleasure can then mix.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_22_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes, the French, it is said, are better lovers than they are fighters. This is true: ask any goat, pig, or other farmyard animal.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_22_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our French foes hold us - along with the rest of the world - in scant regard. This is a mistake they repeat and repeat, being arrogant and wine-sodden in equal measure - and thus slow to learn from their errors.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_23_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes call themselves followers of all that is Holy, Roman and an Empire - lies that must offend God! They offend me greatly too.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_24_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: That Imperial army yonder is full of dunderheads, knaves and fools. The good thing about men with wooden heads is that they split easily beneath the axe.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_24_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Over there stands a miserable collection of sausage-eating, beer-swilling, Imperial pudding-heads. I think they will welcome death.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_25_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: God's blood! Is there anything more disgusting than those sheep-sucking English dotards over there? Possibly their mothers, mayhap, or their lords - men who would shame El Diablo with their repulsive perversities.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_26_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: That isle of England breeds dullards and fools, I see, possibly thanks to the damp weather and lack of decent wine. It will be a kindness to take the sword to those fellows, methinks.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_26_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Pity those Englishmen! God forgot England when he set the sun in the heavens. Fogs and mists are all those people see from birth to death. It is a mercy to kill them, for at least the weather is better in Hell.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_27_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: God's blood! The smell of these Hungarians is enough to sour good wine, and turn any honest man's stomach to boot! Let us be done with them quickly.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_28_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These Hungarians make a brave show, but that is hardly enough when it comes to battle. We shall see, shortly, if they know how to die well.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_28_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our Hungarian foes would do well to run back to the stables where they were birthed. We will shortly harness them, geld them and break them to our purpose.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_29_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our Mongol foes have the shape of men, but not men as we are! They are El Diablo's lapdogs, his imps, sent to test good Christian resolve with their unholy savagery. Show no mercy, for they will certainly show none to you.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_2_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Venetians, it is said, only feel pain when you stab them in the purse. Fortunately, with most Venetians - like our foes here - the purse is quite a large target.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_2_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I'm sure the corpses of our Venetian foes will be well worth looting. As a people they are overly-fond of money, and I cannot believe that they would leave any at home where their ill-bred wives could steal it.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_30_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our Mongol enemies today think themselves to be great warriors. And perhaps they are, according to their lights. Well, I say they have met their match in you, brave soldiers.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_30_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I do not think even the meanest peasant in our ranks should feel anything other than pity when they see our Mongol foes - pity for the horses having to support such bony arses.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_31_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those Byzantines over there are a dangerous enemy. They claim the blood of Roman heroes runs in their veins, yet they would sell their own grandmothers to buy gaudy toys for their catamites. Even in battle, they cannot be trusted to fight like honest men.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_32_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These Byzantine fools should go back to their whoremongering and plotting, and leave honest soldiering to men who know their business, like us. We would all be spared further bloodshed, and they would still breathe.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_32_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our Byzantine enemies cannot be trusted by honest men. Keep your wits about you, men, and keep your money close too, even on a battlefield. They are as avaricious as crows, and as quick to stick their beaks where they are not wanted.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_33_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes today are Moors, which means that they are all heathens and godless loons. Killing them is a duty and a pleasure for all good men.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_34_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Saints preserve us, those Moorish madmen over there have a peculiar reek. That's the stench of the heathen mixed with the smell of the camels that they love. The nosegay large enough to mask that particular reek has yet to be created!
{Mediterranean_Enemy_34_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: If our Moorish foes had any sense they would flee back to the scorpions and snakes that fathered them. For shame, they would not face goatherds, let alone brave men-at-arms.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_35_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The Russian peasants we face today will rue the day they were born. Those that are not slain must be driven back to their wooded motherland with such tales as will frighten children for a hundred years to come.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_36_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our Russian foes should never have left their hovels to fight against us. They will think kindly of their masters' whips by the time we are done with them - those that still have uncudgelled wits within their skulls.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_36_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Over there are the Russians. Their womenfolk are bearlike in manners and looks. This makes the men folk eager to die, so let us oblige them. But that is likely to be our only satisfaction in this struggle, I fear.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_37_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Here you face a Spanish army full of mewling, over-pious fools and milksops. I hate them with a passion, and it will be my pleasure to lead you to victory!
{Mediterranean_Enemy_38_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: God has created two sorts of men: Spaniards and those who kill Spaniards. God loves only the killers of Spaniards, so let us serve God with a will during the coming battle.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_38_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Your Spanish enemies are proud, perhaps too proud. In this place I mean to see them humbled and cut down to size. We'll see how these over-proud Iberians like the cut and thrust of battle against real men.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_39_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: By all the Saints! I mean to see these Portuguese vagabonds humbled, and their banners trampled beneath my feet. Their fish-faced ways offend me and I suspect offend their wives too. God's blood, would you want to sleep with something that miserable?
{Mediterranean_Enemy_3_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those Milanese fops vex me. They parade around in military garb as though they were fit and proper soldiers. Fit and proper popinjays, methinks, or fit only to be French catamites.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_40_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our Portuguese enemies have a reek of fish guts and their own vomit about them, even from this distance. The one is thanks to their trade, for they are not natural soldiers; the sour smell is because they lack all courage and know that they face us.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_40_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Cheer and put fear in the hearts of the fish-reeking enemy. That way, they'll be less inclined to dispute our right to victory, because these Portuguese are fishermen, not soldiers.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_41_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Rebels are an offence in the sight of God. They turn upon their own kind and their own masters. They turn upon the natural order of the world, and they turn against God. They deserve nothing but death.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_42_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes are rebels and traitors, and deserve nothing but the edge of a blade upon their stinking necks. And a sword is a merciful end to them, for they should face the gallows.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_42_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These rebellious knaves and villains are not fit to breathe the same air as we honest men. They must all die before dawn comes again; this is a mercy, because they richly deserve the gallows for turning against their betters.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_43_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These children of Timur are foul beasts, fit only to live in wastelands and, perhaps, stables. On the other hand, why should we upset valuable horses by letting them into stables? We need only kill them to make God's world a better place.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_44_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Cheer your hearts out, and show these Timurid beasts what honest men sound like when their blood is hot! Soon, they will feel the righteous strength of our arms.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_44_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These horse-lovers are not fit enemies for you worthy men, but they are the best that I can do today. I'm sure you will do your best, as good soldiers, to kill them anyway.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_4_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those fops from Milan think that they are soldiers! I laugh at such an idea, for they can barely lift a bag of money, let alone a sword.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_4_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Great God in Heaven! I fear the Milanese do no service to the land of Italy. Rarely have I smelled such a rank odour. One would think that such a nation of bankers would be able to afford fresh linen!
{Mediterranean_Enemy_5_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The only good Sicilian is a dead one! Those people are bandits and murderers - indeed, they make virtues of crimes that would shame any other people on God's good earth!
{Mediterranean_Enemy_6_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Sicilians such as our foes are both treacherous and cruel. I'm told, though, that they also lack courage, being better suited to ambush, attacks from behind and similar knavish tricks. We must watch for those.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_6_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so we must face Sicilians, a kind of man put upon the earth to test the patience of all other Christian souls. Murder and thievery are their chief trades, although dressing like soldiers appears to be among their other accomplishments.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_7_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: That Papal army is lead by a gaggle of lying priests: serpents who crawl upon their bellies to kiss the arse of their master, El Diablo. It is a terrible thing that they have lead so many into utter folly on this field.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_8_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: So that is a Papal army! I did not think unsoldierly cardinals and their floozies would be able to cozen so many into joining their ranks. It's a pity that so many of those honest men will die in so false a cause.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_8_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These so-called servants of the Pope make a brave show, but that is not enough against the likes of us. False prayers will not turn aside our swords, nor will the false prayers of their leaders turn aside Heaven's anger.
{Mediterranean_Enemy_9_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Lord God preserve us! These Danes are a foul folk, cold-hearted as fish and as cruel as the dark seas that surround their homeland. If these dullards take pleasure in anything, it is in the suffering of honest men. As honest men it follows, then, that our honour requires us to fight.
{Mediterranean_Extros_10_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so our foes are waiting. But I have a tun of finest claret that needs attention...
{Mediterranean_Extros_10_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And at the last - LOOK, DO YOU WANT A FIGHT? I could be raising a goblet or eight, don't you know.
{Mediterranean_Extros_10_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so at the last I say to the enemy general - do you want a fight? You and whose army? Well? WELL? NOT SO TOUGH WITH ALL YOUR CHEAP FLOOZIES AT YOUR BACK, ARE YOU?
{Mediterranean_Extros_11_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And think on this: I am a well-read man. My wits are nearly as sharp as my sword - and wits win battles as surely as do swords!
{Mediterranean_Extros_11_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: As a man of learning, I tell you books and all that stuff are all very nice, but on a day like this you want a sword and a good suit of armour. A cutting word is nowhere near as good as sharpened steel! Let's to the enemy, and show them!
{Mediterranean_Extros_12_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And that, by God's Immortal Bottom, is all I have to say. Now kill those whoremongering, arse-pimps and panderers!!
{Mediterranean_Extros_12_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And at the last - just look at those goat-fondling arse-monkeys. Do they deserve to live? Unless I'm a scrofulous molly and jade, I think not!
{Mediterranean_Extros_13_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Ah, my blood stirs afresh! When the cut and thrust is over, I would have cut and thrust of a softer sort. I care not what loot you take, but I reserve the choicest young pieces we find among the enemy baggage as mine. Let's to it!
{Mediterranean_Extros_13_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Let's to the fires, men. And if, once the enemy are broken, you should come across some nubile nymph or doxy who takes your fancy - keep your hands off her. Rank hath privileges! I get first pick.
{Mediterranean_Extros_14_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so we go to battle! We band of brothers will go on to a great victory! And after, in quieter times, we will drink until all grief is drowned in wine and troubles are washed away.
{Mediterranean_Extros_14_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so to battle. For my part I will not die in the company of anyone save my brothers and countrymen here. But this talk of death is premature! Let us say, rather, that I would not have victory with anyone other than you, my comrades-in-arms!
{Mediterranean_Extros_15_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And at the last I say this: there will be coronets and pies for all when we are victorious. And any who wish it may dance in the moonlight with my friend the Giant Sausage. Now, who is with me?
{Mediterranean_Extros_15_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And lastly, you should know that my madness was but a passing fancy. Now that I've had chance to talk it over with my horse, he has suggested I need more rest. And after this battle is done, I think I will be following his counsel.
{Mediterranean_Extros_15_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And at the last, I say to you, look to your - Snakesnakesnakesnake-SNAKE-SNAKE! OH MY GOD! TAKE IT AWAY!
{Mediterranean_Extros_16_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I have fought long and hard in the service of Our Lord. My sins have long since been washed away in battle fighting His enemies and those of Mother Church. This battle will wash away your sins too, if you fight with courage and with the Lord's name on your lips!
{Mediterranean_Extros_16_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: You know me. I have slain many heretics, pagans, heathens and malefactors for our Mother Church. I stand with you now as a man of war, your general, who would lead you to another victory in God's name. So let us go forth and conquer!
{Mediterranean_Extros_16_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And finally, I tell you that I have fought many battles. I face this one with the knowledge that I have followed the Cross and done God's work. Because I have done that, He will not allow me to face defeat! Victory is ours - for it is in the gift of our Lord!
{Mediterranean_Extros_1_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And at the last, I have no more words, save that I want them all dead, dead, DEAD! Dead as a Frenchman's honour!
{Mediterranean_Extros_1_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so to it! I want them dead before me! I want them all suffering and dead! GAHHHAHAR!
{Mediterranean_Extros_20_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Now kneel, bow your heads to your Saviour and look only to God to grant us victory. Only with his aid can we surely triumph.
{Mediterranean_Extros_20_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now I trust my life to God, for I know our cause is true and just. So pray, you beetle-headed knaves, and make sure God knows you think the same.
{Mediterranean_Extros_20_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now any man here who is not praying for our victory had better make his peace with God, or he'll find none with me hereafter! Now bring me my broadsword and let me kiss the Cross before I fight!
{Mediterranean_Extros_21_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now all is said! Let's to it pell-mell - and send our enemies to fry in Hell!
{Mediterranean_Extros_22_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so let's be about our tasks. I would dine - and battle gives me a powerful appetite! I invite ... A goodly number of you to join me at table later!
{Mediterranean_Extros_23_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Now lift up your banners and march away - to glory, good soldiers, and a bloody day!
{Mediterranean_Extros_24_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now, put your trust in good steel and hard-hearted comrades. Then let us see what God wills for us.
{Mediterranean_Extros_25_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so make your peace with God and your fellows. Do not brood on what is to come. Raise high our banners!
{Mediterranean_Extros_2_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now to it! But by God's blood, I will have no more gossip-mongering, in particular I will have no more disparaging remarks about my generalship. If you don't like it, then have the grace to die bravely. Now, give the foe a cheer to fright them.
{Mediterranean_Extros_2_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so the enemy! Remember I'll have no cunning plan ruined by poor execution on your part! This time when an order comes, obey it, or I'll know why! Fight and all will be well!
{Mediterranean_Extros_2_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And finally, I will have no more gossip on my prowess. Learn your places, you goatherd dogs and victory will be ours. Doubt your master, and the whip will be your sole reward! Now give the scum yonder a cheer!
{Mediterranean_Extros_3_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so we begin. I beg you - listen to orders and do all that's needful. That, and some slight courage, and all will be well.
{Mediterranean_Extros_3_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And finally, I do not shout orders for the pleasure of shouting. I shout orders because I would like them to be obeyed. Soldiers, by tradition, obey the orders of their generals. Shall we start with a simple one? Give a cheer, and dishearten the foe!
{Mediterranean_Extros_4_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I would be among the first to take an enemy head! Aye, the thought of those craven dogs dying 'neath my blade fills me with a joy that is almost ... unholy! Let all men stand aside! I will have my pleasure!
{Mediterranean_Extros_4_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And no man will do much wrong today if he follows me in all things. Do not stand too close, for when the lust is on me, my sword swings freely! I will have my foes DEAD! I will have all who stand against me DEAD! DEATH IS MY FRIEND! ARRRRGGHHHGHH!
{Mediterranean_Extros_5_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And finally, I say this - no man does wrong who makes his enemy bleed. There's no better sight to my eyes, no sweeter music than a man drowning in his own red blood. And some fools call me wit-sick. Bah.
{Mediterranean_Extros_5_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now, I will see blood spilled! Blood aplenty! I would dance about in lakes of blood for sport - aye, and decorate my hat with gizzards too! Let's away, and kill them all!
{Mediterranean_Extros_6_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so it's time to do battle. I hope you've set your affairs in order and made provision for your loved ones, because it simply would not do for them to be left without any support should the unexpected occur and you don't want worries about their fate clouding your mind at a time like this when there are enemies to be fought and worlds to conquer and so forth ... Those banners are very nice, aren't they?
{Mediterranean_Extros_7_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now we come to the rub of the matter! In peace, soft looks and good silk become a man. In war, your wise man puts off his silk and draws on bravery! And so I see no popinjays here - let's away!
{Mediterranean_Extros_7_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And think on this: our foes know I am a brave man, and do not hold with cowardice. It follows then, that they know you to be brave men for being with me. And fear of you gnaws even now at their guts! So let's away, and stick something else in their guts!
{Mediterranean_Extros_7_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And at the last, be of good heart! A battle's a little thing, set against the works of God. If we fear, we die a thousand times - and I would die but once in the company of good men. So, if you would be brave, follow me!
{Mediterranean_Extros_8_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And lastly, I will say a word to counter idle tongues. Having great big swords swung about when you're trying to give orders is distracting. It quite puts me out of humour. That's why I will exercise command from here, where my good nature will not be put upon. Now, away and fight the foe!
{Mediterranean_Extros_8_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And now, armoured in prudence and armed with the trusty cudgel of caution, it is time to fight, methinks. To the untrained eye, my cunning plan to await developments from a safe vantage may seem odd, but I think the stratagem has much to recommend it. So, go to it!
{Mediterranean_Extros_8_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And let no man doubt my courage - I'll not have it! Command is an art that is best mastered when the head rules the heart. Thus, I need a little distance and peace to master the battle properly. And so away, your foe awaits!
{Mediterranean_Extros_9_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And remember - I will have everything done according to the principles of war. We will shame our opponents with our martial prowess! Now start by cheering and frightening them! Cheer!
{Mediterranean_Extros_9_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And lastly, some think me a hard task master. I say to them, so what? Would you have defeat, or victory? I would have victory! That is why I will have my way - and why you will have it too.
{Mediterranean_Intro_10_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Hurrah, huzzah and hurrah once more! This is a glorious moment of in our history, my loyal soldiers, my comrades-in-arms - my brothers! We stand ready to grasp victory, and enter the chronicles of our people as heroes. What finer fate is there for a man?
{Mediterranean_Intro_11_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Battle is a dangerous thing, and we face glory or death here. It is my honour to give you victory if God wills it so. I would ask you to fight, no more, no less, when the time comes. We will have glory - let those fools enjoy death and dishonour.
{Mediterranean_Intro_11_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: It is not my way to send men into needless peril during battle. If I ask something of you, it is necessary. And I will not expect more of you than I would ask of myself. I have found that just orders are readily obeyed, and victory is the result.
{Mediterranean_Intro_11_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Men speak well of me because I do not throw lives away. I will not use false modesty and deny the charge. Indeed, I say proudly that it is true! And further - I will give you victory if you have the hearts to fight like men possessed when I ask it!
{Mediterranean_Intro_12_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: And so to battle. Try not to get killed and when this is all over we'll drink to our continued good health! There will be some tedious work later, counting the enemy dead, I fear. But I'm sure a few fellows of good peasant stock can be prevailed upon to deal with any unpleasantness that will upset the festivities.
{Mediterranean_Intro_13_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: By the Virgin Mary, I am in at least two minds about this battle. Good arguments have been advanced as to our many strategies. There is much to say for all of them. I have it mind to sit for a while and see how the battle develops. No harm can come from a little caution.
{Mediterranean_Intro_14_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: By the Saints, this is a moment worth savouring! All is done. We have put our faith in God. We face a foe to test our mettle. I stand before a valiant company of soldiers. Only the small matter of a battle remains. Look to your arms, and prepare your souls.
{Mediterranean_Intro_15_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Now we take up the sword, and buckle on our armour. We look to the Virgin to watch over our souls. We do all these things knowing that peril is close by. But I do them with a glad heart because I am surrounded by good men.
{Mediterranean_Intro_16_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Pray now, good men, for intercession of the Saints Anthony, Lucia, Christopher and John of the Cross! If you ride a horse, add good Saint Martin to the list. I would have all the help Heaven can provide to our cause. If any man be ill-favoured by fortune, I would have him leave our ranks, lest his bad luck infect us all.
{Mediterranean_Intro_17_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Why are there no men like us in the world? What made God order things to so try my patience? The sight of thrice-poxed foreigners like them always offends me.
{Mediterranean_Intro_1_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: There are knaves and base-born peasants who doubt my abilities as a general. To them, I offer only the sword's edge, as I will not waste breath in contradiction of their lies. We shall prove them wrong with the coming defeat of our enemy.
{Mediterranean_Intro_1_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Doubt has been expressed about my abilities as a general! We'll hear no more such talk! I have it mind to win a great victory and that will not come about if such jesting fools are allowed to spread falsehoods and lies.
{Mediterranean_Intro_1_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I have heard that I do not have the ability to herd goats, let alone lead an army. I often smile at such talk, but this is where such idle gossip ends! On this field my run of luck changes, and we march to victory!
{Mediterranean_Intro_20_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Cry unto the heavens, soldiers! Let God hear your righteous voices! Beg for the strength to master this enemy, for we have righteousness in our cause. And when you have done that, take up your swords, and be armoured in faith!
{Mediterranean_Intro_20_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The love of God is a thousand times stronger than any mortal armour! His wrath against our foes is a thousand times better than a thousand arrows. Our faith gives us his aid, and more - it will give us victory! Now, cry "For the Virgin!" and look for that victory.
{Mediterranean_Intro_20_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes are ungodly beasts, and so we are but the swords in the hands of the hosts of Heaven! We do God's glorious work and if we fall, we do so in His cause! If we triumph, we do so because He has willed it! Now, bow your heads, then let's to the appointed task!
{Mediterranean_Intro_21_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: So we come to this: a battle. A battle is your chance, good soldiers, to better your condition. A few minutes of blood, sweat and toil and then all will be ours when we have victory: loot, women, drink, honour, glory, knighthood - each a fine reward, but together they are magnificent.
{Mediterranean_Intro_22_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Through God's grace we have been brought to this place, brought here to fight for His glory and in His name. Our enemies must quail at the thought of our righteous might! We would do well to pray because the shedding of blood is an offence, but it is one that we willingly do - for by it, we establish God's peace!
{Mediterranean_Intro_23_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Well here's a fine thing! I see a foe worth the killing, and brave soldiers beside me who are up to the mark. I can also feel an inspiring speech coming on! So listen to me! Listen well, you brave fellows.
{Mediterranean_Intro_24_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I have brought you here to fight! I brought you here because you are hard-faced brave soldiers, and put fear into any enemy. I promise nothing, save a hard struggle! Would you have me tell you anything else? I will not lie - no, not even if victory depended on that lie.
{Mediterranean_Intro_2_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We are here to fight! But victory will be elusive if disobedience is your watchword. I would have order in our ranks, and calm. I would have men listen to their officers, and do all with a willing heart. It is not much to ask.
{Mediterranean_Intro_3_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I have many terrible scars, but all of them were taken honourably in battle. Shortly, I may take another wound if God wills it for I do not intend to skulk in the manner of a Frenchman. That is of no account, though, for I mean to have victory whatever the pain to my person.
{Mediterranean_Intro_4_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Well, it's time to fight, methinks, and I suppose we must do our best and let's try to stick together like proper soldiers. And have some valour. Yes. Valour. That's a good word. And be strong, because you're all good soldiers. And there's nothing to worry about. No. Yes. No.
{Mediterranean_Intro_5_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I am known for my bravery, even though I say it as one who comes from a race of brave men. Thus I have every confidence that we will shortly crush our enemies.
{Mediterranean_Intro_5_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Any man who faces battle without fear is a mooncalf. Any man who claims never to have feared in his life is a liar. I am counted among the brave, but I tell you that I am proud and gladdened to be marching in your company.
{Mediterranean_Intro_6_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Now men, to arms, to arms. The enemy are in the field, I see. I shall secure our rear, a post of no little importance, while you look to the enemy. Thus, your glory is almost guaranteed by my self-restraint and good sense. In years to come, when you look back on this day, you will come to appreciate my wisdom.
{Mediterranean_Intro_6_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: A curse upon any man who names me "coward". Let him take on the burden of high leadership and still say the word. A leader's lot is not just to fight - it is to organise, and my particular skills are best suited to ordering our ranks, not to the hurly-burly of battle.
{Mediterranean_Intro_7_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Honour is a worthy ambition for all soldiers, but when discipline is the price paid for that honour, I say there will be order in our ranks. He who wants honour will find it, but he will find it by following orders, else he will feel the lash of my displeasure.
{Mediterranean_Intro_8_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: It is an honour to be thought a well-educated man, for are we not a nation of erudite warriors? But I tell you that in all the books I have ever studied, I have never seen an account of creatures as lowly as our foes. However, my learning leads me to suspect that they may die as easily as other men.
{Mediterranean_Intro_9_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I look over there and I see a legion of arseweasels - piss-a-bed, sheepworrying arseweasels. I've seen priests' :wub:s with more wit than those chamberpot drinkers. I've seen cardinal's :wub:s with more - ah, let's to it.
{Mediterranean_One_Liner_17}Ces pourceaux me déplaisent ! Je veux qu'ils rendent l'âme incontinent, dans d'abominables souffrances ! Aux armes !
{Mediterranean_One_Liner_18}Dieu est avec nous ! Prenez le temps d'une prière, puis aux armes ! L'ennemi nous attend !
{Mediterranean_One_Liner_19}Hurlez, nobles soldats, hurlez !
A l'assaut !
L'ennemi a fort mauvais goût !
{Mediterranean_One_Liner_31}A l'assaut, braves soldats !
A l'assaut !
{Mediterranean_Situation_10_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Fully half of our army is here. You are a mighty force, made even mightier by the aid of Heaven.
{Mediterranean_Situation_10_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Beneath this banner stand half of all our soldiers. We cannot lose, for that would be a sore blow to our cause. Instead, let us do great deeds and be worthy of honour.
{Mediterranean_Situation_11_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Today you are the largest of our armies in the field. I expect great things of you, that you will win great glory and make this a day long remembered.
{Mediterranean_Situation_11_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: You men are three-quarters of all our soldiers under arms. This is a terrible thing for an enemy to face, and your deeds will further sear this day into the memories of our enemies.
{Mediterranean_Situation_12_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Those men are a quarter of our foe's total strength. Think on that, for when they are dead the enemy will be massively weaker.
{Mediterranean_Situation_12_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: With God's good graces, we shall strike down a quarter of our enemy's army today. "Courage" will be our watchword, "despair" theirs.
{Mediterranean_Situation_13_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Fully half the enemy's strength is ranged against us. But I am not downhearted. The loss of so many will bring the enemy to their senses.
{Mediterranean_Situation_13_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This battle means a lot to our enemies - that is why half of all their men stand over there today. So, we shall make them rue the day they came to meet honest men in combat.
{Mediterranean_Situation_14_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This battle is a vital one to our enemies. Fully three-quarters of their soldiers oppose us. They fear us that much. Well, today they will learn there is folly in numbers.
{Mediterranean_Situation_14_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Fully three in four of our foes stand before you. Shall we show them how bravely you can fight, no matter what the enemy?
{Mediterranean_Situation_15_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Here is where we stand. Here is where we live or die as free men. Here is where we must turn the tide and triumph, or see our people crushed beneath a tyrant's heel. We must not fail.
{Mediterranean_Situation_15_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Today will be a judgement on us all. If some of us die it will count for nought, as long as our cause lives on. We cannot fail, for if we do then all is lost. And you, my fine soldiers, will never let that happen.
{Mediterranean_Situation_16_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This is the final dung-heap. Doubtless our foes will fight like cornered rats to keep their lives, but we must harden our hearts. Let your cry be 'no mercy' until they are utterly cast down.
{Mediterranean_Situation_16_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We have driven the enemy back to his last bolt-hole. Now is the time for the last great attack, my brave fellows. Now will your courage be rewarded with final victory.
{Mediterranean_Situation_17_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We must not fail in this struggle, for if we do our allies will fail utterly. Our honour counts for little if we let our friends be destroyed.
{Mediterranean_Situation_17_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our ally's cause hangs by a thread, and it is within our power to save them. This day we must fight like lions - and lions forged in the heat of war at that.
{Mediterranean_Situation_1_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We defend of our lands - our homes - knowing that the enemy must not pass. This place is ours, and we will shed blood to keep it.
{Mediterranean_Situation_1_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Remember that we cannot let one of those bastards in. Not a one. Any who enters must stay only to be meat for the carrion crows.
{Mediterranean_Situation_2_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We stand before this city because our foes should have no peace - or, for that matter, homes. Why should we give them any safety in this world, when they are so manifestly undeserving? And when the city is ours, it will be jewel in our kingdom's crown.
{Mediterranean_Situation_2_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We attack this city because we must, if our foe is to be broken. They must learn that the price of defiance is high - a home taken, loved ones lost. That this city would be a fine addition to our kingdom is merely a further boon.
{Mediterranean_Situation_3_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: These walls are stout enough, if our hearts be equally strong. Let no man think of anything but defiance of the foe, for none shall enter and live while I draw breath.
{Mediterranean_Situation_3_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This fortress must be held against all the enemy's wiles and stratagems. We stand on these battlements and defy them all.
{Mediterranean_Situation_4_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This fortress must be taken, no matter what opposition our foes offer. Let no man think of anything except breaching the walls, and raising our banners on its towers.
{Mediterranean_Situation_4_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We stand before mighty walls, but I am certain that we have the power to take them. Our foes would do well to throw open the gates and end this now - but they won't, of course.
{Mediterranean_Situation_5_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I will not speak much about our situation. It is simple. God's will has brought us here, and the faithful have great hopes for us. With their prayers, we can finish this crusade.
{Mediterranean_Situation_5_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We have come a long way on crusade. Now we attack not for ourselves, but in God's name. We will triumph for that one reason: because we attack in His name.
{Mediterranean_Situation_6_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Here we must make a stand, and hold our foe on this field. We must make them regret their invasion of our lands. They must be broken utterly, lest they have the strength to attack your homes.
{Mediterranean_Situation_6_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This is where we make sure that our foes come no further, where we safeguard our homes, cities and families. We say to them: "this far, and no further."
{Mediterranean_Situation_7_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Now is our chance, brave soldiers! One swift battle, and the road to plunder is open. If we brush aside this army there are no other defenders to hinder our march on the city.
{Mediterranean_Situation_7_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The enemy must hold us here, or lose their lands. They will try their best, but lacking the spirit of true soldiers they will fail.
{Mediterranean_Situation_8_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This day will long be remembered, come what may. Men will say that here many fought with courage, many died well - and they will drink a toast in memory of us. This is a day for true heroes.
{Mediterranean_Situation_8_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: In years to come our bloody work will become the stuff of minstrels' tales. Any man who fights with me today need never have his courage or manhood doubted again. This is a day for heroes.
{Mediterranean_Situation_9_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: You men represent fully one quarter of our forces, and our people expect great things of you. I know you will not disappoint.
{Mediterranean_Situation_9_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We band of brothers are one-fourth of our soldiers. And thus we carry a heavy duty to our people, our King and our God.
{Mediterranean_Terrain_1_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We stand today on high ground, a small advantage in battle. It is not one I intend to throw away.
{Mediterranean_Terrain_1_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This ground suits my purpose. The enemy must climb to us, and tired men fight but poorly.
{Mediterranean_Terrain_2_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The enemy stand on high ground, a small advantage and one we shall ignore.
{Mediterranean_Terrain_2_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The foe has chosen his ground well, and we must fight uphill today. This we will do.
{Mediterranean_Terrain_5_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Here among the trees we should wait - and then strike the enemy from cover.
{Mediterranean_Terrain_5_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: With luck, the enemy will attack us here, where we have the cover of the trees.
{Mediterranean_Terrain_6_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Now, men, the enemy are cowering in the woods - and we must hunt them down like rabbits today.
{Mediterranean_Terrain_6_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our enemies are wise enough to hide in the woods, but that will not save them from our swords.
{Mediterranean_Troops_10_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I have no intention of being nice to the enemy - we shall shoot them down in droves, if we can.
{Mediterranean_Troops_10_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I see little reason to needlessly risk lives today. Let us rain death upon our foes and let them struggle to come to grips with us.
{Mediterranean_Troops_11_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Now - this will need courage. We must advance into a hail of missiles and then kill them.
{Mediterranean_Troops_11_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I see the foe dare not fight us man to man like honest soldiers would, but must rely on a woman's stratagem of throwing things at us.
{Mediterranean_Troops_12_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our horsemen may not be of the greatest use in this fight - but we will need someone to ride down our foes eventually.
{Mediterranean_Troops_12_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: There will be hard fighting as our horsemen must wait until the breach has been taken. But what glory for those foot soldiers who make the attack.
{Mediterranean_Troops_12_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our army faces a hard fight. Our horsemen must stand idly by while others breach the walls and gain great honour in so doing.
{Mediterranean_Troops_13_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: By All that is Holy - the Lord has clouded the thoughts of our enemies. They have brought too many horsemen to this battle.
{Mediterranean_Troops_13_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The enemy have brought many cavalrymen to this siege. Are they truly as stupid as Frenchmen or is it some clever trick?
{Mediterranean_Troops_13_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: By the Holy Mother - the enemy are lead by idiots after all. To bring so many horsemen to a siege suggests a lack of wit - or a sense of cruel humour.
{Mediterranean_Troops_14_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I fear that we will feel the lack of gunpowder on our side today. And our foes have an ample supply of heavily armoured men.
{Mediterranean_Troops_14_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: God's wounds! I see that our foes are amply supplied with heavily armoured troops. Would that we had some men with firelocks - we may feel their lack.
{Mediterranean_Troops_15_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Luck is with us! The enemy have heavily armoured soldiers, I see, but we have something to deal with them - handguns! Saint Barbara and gunpowder will blow them to Kingdom Come.
{Mediterranean_Troops_15_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The foes' heavily armoured soldiers look pretty, but they are big fat targets for our handgunners! This is good news indeed.
{Mediterranean_Troops_16_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Saint Barbara has aided us! I see the enemy have no soldiers with firearms. Our heavily armoured troops should do them much harm as a consequence.
{Mediterranean_Troops_16_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our heavy troops should see good service, for I see that the enemy have no troops with firelocks or the like. Saint Barbara, be thanked!
{Mediterranean_Troops_17_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our armoured troops will need careful use today if they are not to be targets for the enemy handgunners - but with luck they should give a bloody account of themselves.
{Mediterranean_Troops_17_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I see they have handgunners - we must take care, lest we provide them with too many easy targets. Our heavy armoured troops should prepare themselves for dealing with these brimstone-reeking fools.
{Mediterranean_Troops_18_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our handgunners should do good work here today - the Satanic smell alone should affright the enemy! And see - our foes lack armoured troops to attack the gunners with any safety.
{Mediterranean_Troops_18_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Fortune favours the prepared even more than the brave! The foe lack heavily armoured soldiers, so our handgunners - with the aid of Saint Barbara - will do bloody work.
{Mediterranean_Troops_19_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Jesucristo saves us - I see that the enemy have brought firearms with them. A pity, for we lack the armour to deal with such soldiers without an overly risky attack.
{Mediterranean_Troops_19_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The enemy have brought guns to this battle - guns, hardly the weapons of gentlemen! But this may be tricky, for we have no heavily armoured troops to assault them directly.
{Mediterranean_Troops_1_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The enemy horses may be a problem as we have few spearmen. But courage will be our answer to their attacks.
{Mediterranean_Troops_1_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes have the advantage in cavalry, and we lack spearmen. But if we are steadfast, their advantage will count for little.
{Mediterranean_Troops_1_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our lack of spears must be made good by our courage and I see the enemy have many horsemen - all the better for them to run from us.
{Mediterranean_Troops_2_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Do not fear their horsemen, for we are strongly provided with good horsemen of our own.
{Mediterranean_Troops_2_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: This is a fight for horsemen, for we and the enemy are well supplied with them. But with luck lesser men may get to play their parts too.
{Mediterranean_Troops_2_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our horsemen are equally matched, I see, but a hard battle has never bothered us.
{Mediterranean_Troops_3_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Now, spearmen, look to your front. Success hangs upon your courage in the face of so many horsemen.
{Mediterranean_Troops_3_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Steady your nerves, men, and stand fast. Our foes have cavalry, but no horse charges onto a spear unless ridden by a madman.
{Mediterranean_Troops_3_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Santiago be thanked - we are well provided with spears. Our foes' horsemen will do them little good.
{Mediterranean_Troops_4_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: We have an opportunity here, my brave fellows. We can ride these fools down with impunity.
{Mediterranean_Troops_4_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Trust our foes to come ill-prepared for the Lord has clouded their minds. Well, we shall take advantage of their lack of spears, and use our horsemen to full advantage.
{Mediterranean_Troops_4_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I do not intend to fight on the enemy's terms. Our horsemen give us an advantage - thanks be to Santa Lucia for that - and I will use it to full effect.
{Mediterranean_Troops_5_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: They have spearmen aplenty, but cunning and speed will defeat them. Our horsemen will prevail.
{Mediterranean_Troops_5_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Stand fast, for any horseman under my command who rides down this enemy is a fool. Their spears are worthy of respect.
{Mediterranean_Troops_5_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Caution must be one of our virtues - there are many spears in that army, and frontal attack by our horsemen would be foolish - even suicidal.
{Mediterranean_Troops_6_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I see that the enemy have brought elephants with them. This may be troublesome, but courage is a good reply.
{Mediterranean_Troops_6_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I see our foes have elephants. They may have some profit from this, but shortly we will feast on elephant in red wine.
{Mediterranean_Troops_6_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our foes doubtless think their elephants a great boon. We shall have to see about that, as I dislike great beasts wandering about my battlefields.
{Mediterranean_Troops_7_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: I see our foes have brought guns to this battle. Saint Christopher preserve us! Cannons smell fouler than the devil's farts and they can kill just as surely. We must deal with those shortly.
{Mediterranean_Troops_7_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our enemy hope to blow us into the next world, I see, with their foul cannons. They are not the weapons of gentlemen. Let us hope that the barrels split and visit hell-fire upon them.
{Mediterranean_Troops_7_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: The fire-and-brimstone smell from our enemies is not actually them, servants of the devil though they be. They have cannons among their ranks.
{Mediterranean_Troops_8_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our elephants are a boon today, for I feel that the enemy may lack the wit and guts to deal with them properly.
{Mediterranean_Troops_8_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Praise the Lord for our elephants. They are a useful tool in this fight, as the foe will find it hard to counter their strength.
{Mediterranean_Troops_8_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Elephants, I see, are a useful addition to our ranks. The enemy will find it hard to counter them with the soldiers they have to hand.
{Mediterranean_Troops_9_1}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our cannons will do bloody slaughter if the enemy are stupid enough to come within range. We can but hope they will be that useless.
{Mediterranean_Troops_9_2}NEEDS TRANSLATION: It's always disheartening to be fired at by cannons. I intend our enemies should learn this the hard way.
{Mediterranean_Troops_9_3}NEEDS TRANSLATION: Our cannons could be a great help in the fighting, if only we can get over the smell - a stink that is worthy of Frenchman's privates.
{son de verre qui se brise} - PAR LE SAINT SUAIRE ! Ainsi va ma dernière bouteille. Malepeste ! Quelqu'un doit payer pour cette avanie ! A l'attaque !

As you can see, there are only One-Liners for the English, but the French have all kinds of pre-battle speeches.
