Default Questions implementing Retrofit mod features elsewhere

Hi UnspokenKnight, I wanted to ask how to get certain Retrofit features into my mod I'm working on.

We have the quotes file, but during the loading process, the screen goes straight to black, and only the loading bar is visible. Yet in RetroFit mod, you have quotes and loading screens show up on screen, even though you don't include any loading screens personally.

I thought I had to include loading screen pictures for the screen to not go black, but it works for you without having them. Could you explain?

the tranquility of servitude greater than
the animating contest for freedom, go
home from us in peace. We seek not
your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch
down and lick the hand that feeds you,
and may posterity forget that ye were
    our countrymen."

Well if your mod folder setup is working properly the loading screens and quotes should show up by default.

It seems everything is set up correctly. I mean the game loads up practically without any files in my mod folder. Just that the screen goes black whenever it's 'loading time'. Am I missing something?

Well I tried adding some loading screens into my mod's loading_screens folder, but the screen still goes black whenever loading happens. Everything is set up correctly, the mod plays very well, so I'm not sure what happened here.

    @SignifierOne:

Does your mod use kingdoms.exe? I am not sure if this functionality works for medieval2.exe.

Yeah definitely kingdoms.exe. It's just weird that it blacks out during loading, except for loading bar. I thought adding one load-screen would help, but it briefly shows that image before blacking out. There wouldn't be some setting in the config file, or some file I'd have to have in /data/menu/ would there? I copied all of Retrofit /menu/ files into my folder, for good measure, but it still blacks out, weird.

    Everything else works though.

There is no config setting or other files you need to have. It should detect if there are no loading screens in the mod directory and default to the M2TW loading screens. I don't know what could be the issue if you are cerain you are using kingdoms.exe. Perhaps check the version in the options page of the front end. It should be 1.04.

I am certain about kingdoms.exe. If the behavior is only to detect presence or absence of the loading_screen directory, then something's certainly working incorrectly... I thought it might be some drivers problem or something, but your Retrofit loads up in full loading_screen glory.

If there any other ideas please let me know; if I find something to fix this, I'll report back.

I simply don't see why re-making our mod on top of Retrofit should fix things, but that may be the last recourse we'll get to.

UnspokenKnight, I've figured out how it works, and what happens wrong!

If you have your custom loading_bar as a DDS in addition to a TGA, then that problem will happen, and the whole screen will blank out while the game is loading something; it seems to be just a tiny little bug, nothing more.

I try to make as many DDS alternatives of TGAs as I can, in order to optimize the game fully (after all, it does ask for DDS in the logs). But I guess sometimes too much optimization isn't good for you!

i have had same problem but about rome total war and lusteds terrae expugnandae s mod, and i did fix it.
It s not a just "mod" problem, it s a game problem. You can try clean all of your logical memory, temporary files and fix other clutters with ccleaner or system mechanic, and restart pc. (if you mount game image, before do unmount)...
As i say i fixed my same problem by this way.
