To me this athemn sounds really stupid. I mean singing about one person is not what I'd call nation pride. How many English people actually sing this song? I wouldn't sing it. I'd rather sing about grass then Berthie Ahern. Thoughts?
A lot of English sing it. The Queen represents Britain.
Leave our sovereign alone.
According to the Theory of War, which teaches that the best way to avoid the inconvenience of war is to pursue it away from your own country, it is more sensible for us to fight our notorious enemy in his own realm, with the joint power of our allies, than it is to wait for him at our own doors.

Why she has no special immunity in this or any other forum, or anywhere in the world as far as I am concerned.
They exist in the government that I accept, but I don't have to like them and what they have represented.

The only other song I like is Rule Britannia but thats not about England so I'm not sure if it would count.

I'm English, and I think it's a stupid anthem. It's the Queen's anthem, not the national anthem. It's not about the country, it's about a women who's ancestors deemed themselves most important and therefore in charge. An anthem should reflect the country, not the leader.
And as usual, Bill Bailey has the right idea.
Life is just a ride...
Its from the old days when the Monarchs actually mattered.
As a Canadian she is my queen. But I have no respect for monarchs (they don't earn their wealth or status). You'd have to pay me to say "God save the Queen".

Because he was talking to me?
I'm not so sure. Surely the national anthem came in around the Victorian times? Or earlier? The monarchs were powerful up to Charles I, when their power was limited. I doubt England had a national anthem before or up to Charles I. I'd of though it came much later on.

Well, it seem to have worked. Lizzie is quite old, isn't she?
