Thread: Population growth?

    Default Population growth?

Is it me, or is the population growth a bit high? When you do the numbers, 2% population growth in 1100-1500 is quite high unless its the capital of a large empire, like a Rome or Constantinople. Crunch some numbers:

    # of turns: # of people
    1:800
    2:816
    3:832
    4:849
    5:866
    6:883
    7:900
    8:919
    9:937
    10:956
    11:975
    12:994
    13:1014
    14:1035
    15:1056
    16:1077
    17:1098
    18:1120
    19:1142
    20:1165

So, if I'm not mistaken, in ten years worth the population of a settlement has increased by 365 people, at a constant rate of 2%. However, rather large and important settlements like, lets say Toledo, today have a census population of 77,601.

Shouldn't it be lower? Im not sure the effect this would have in game mechanics, effects, etc...but still.. =)

Good point, amigo. That's probably due to the 0.5 years per turn, population growth is 4 times the vanilla M2:TW and should be toned down..

Hi Mikel - you may be right - pop growth may be a tad too high. Haven't looked at it in awhile. But there is an era system in place, that will prevent you from fielding plate armour units in 1100!

I don't have the Kingdoms expansion yet. I'm waiting for it to get to my house via mail, since there were none in the stores in my city.

One thing: Can I just install Kingdoms over the current version of MTW v 2.0 with the PDER mod? Or do I have to uninstall everything and then reinstall everything?

I think Kingdoms is supposed to be installed over a clean version of M2TW...
