    Marcus Junius Brutus stands:

I agree with my fellow senators;when we conquer the rest of the Po Valley, let us halt there. We can have all the advantages there on our side if this war goes on; However,I do not seem necessary at given time to focus on economy as Senator Metellus proposes, simply because we have near 350,000 denarii on our vaults...

Consul Malleolus put forward motions at the start of his term regarding the military infrastructure. Currently word is that around the cities of Res Publica blacksmiths, armorers and a few founderies are being built. Along side with the upgrading of equipment Consul Malleolus was also granted the right to expand and develop the cavalry wing of our legions.
No matter how warmongering this may sound, Consul Malleolus proposed these upgrades to minimize casualties in the coming invasion. So with that reason in mind I also predict that the Consul will grant substantial amounts of funds into the development of civic, religiuos, educational and public health buildings.

Senators, I am going to abstain, though here is what I think:

    (a) At the very least, we should raid Narbo Martius to weaken Gaulish morale, and conquer Massila for the time comes for a war against Iberia or Carthage.

    (b) After this, we should either attack sicily, or Corsica and Sardinia.

(ooc: I am not abstaining because I want to, I am abstaining because I slammed my finger in a door yesterday and it hurts to type.)

Your opinion on attacking Sicily is complete gibberish. Has the Consul forgotten that we are allies to the sole ruler of Sicily, Syracuse?

Oh. I mean't Sardinia and Corsica. Drank to much wine. Sorry.

why is it you wish to wage war with Carthage, Junior Consul? They are not our foes! they are the reason we have the wealth we have. They trade with us and make us rich. If we attack, we lose men, money and pride! We do not invade for a few scraps of land and a handful of mines! We are honorable, not bullies!

    Junius Brutus Major reacts:

Senators! G.Valerius Secundus has a fair point;Let us take down our enemies one by one.The last thing we need now is war an multiple fronts! But as for Carthage,I disagree Senator: They are kicked out of Sicily and we have yet to see if they can make an empire on Spain. At given time a war against the Africa's rulers would be irrelevant,as we do not have any Casus Belli for such an action,as ill-advised;We have a powerful enemy,Gaul;Let us not find ourselves picking a fight we cannot win(with Carthage...) also...

Rome's Legions can ofcourse beat the Carthaginians... but I am Not sure it is wise to Attack them while our Navy is suplying the Massilia Expedition force. Let the Chartaginians spend their Money on killing Barbarians in Iberia! I stand By; We will Continue our War vs the Gaulish Hordes. Another War is not in Romes benefit.

Think carefully when discussing about invasions, every invasion has a seed of disaster in it, even raids have one so think carefully think twice then think for a third time. Play every situation that comes into your mind.

We should just focus securing the Po valley and guarding the alps. But we can't let our soldiers get fat and bored, our swords have to be sharp and our lines solid and steady!

I wonder how the pathetic Greeks are doing...could we have some info on Grecia?

If somebody needs some refreshing on military matters, I suggest you visit the store in the Forum which has a funny looking people. I bought an interesting book from there it's called SunTzis Art of Battle, there were quite many copies of it there. Only 10.000 denari for such an good book.

    OOC:
@Andronicus holy......so someone actually remembers the old forums well I'm glad you enjoyed my posts
Ok who can guess the book I tried to "twist" the name a bit so that it would reflect the long journey from china.

Yes we must focus... but I would be pleased if we could see some "Maps" of the borde-lands, Greece and the Northern Border mostly. These Maps so that the Senate can see where it's atetion is neaded.
