We should push north, and hope to push Gaul into a war that they cannot win.

We cannot enter war for at least 7 years to come with the cities of the North; What am I to do on Southern Italy?Should I destroy the rebels or would you have me to let them start the hostilities?

    Ave Consul,

As i remeber the southern states were united.
As for like a Band a Rebels. please do destroy them, they raid our Merchant everyday.

North.. I am tired of hearing that idea Gauls.. They are a murderious people they show no mercy in victory
I do not believe going north is a major concern of the people nor most of Senators here with the Exception of
    the Past Extremists.
Peace is what must follow these hardships of war.

Attacking the rebels in the south is most likely a good plan, but find out how powerful they truly are first. if they could cause us significant damage wait for now and maybe have a few more men join to help(if there are any in the vicinity), but if they are weak eliminate them and move on.

I have an entire Consular Army stationed nearby;I am realistic when I say they are dead already if you give me the right to march against the Rebels of Croton. What of the triremes though,Noble Senators?Should I construct another 60 of these warships or you are content with 180 strong fleet?:hmmm:

    Ave Senators of Rome,

    Carthage,
A great nation in the eyes of many.
But I Aqulia Decimus Cato beg to differ.
These "Great" people dont even fight for
Themselves they choose to have other people
to do their bidding in battle, How are these people
Great if they do not fight for what is their?

Also these peoples Gods are Demonic and demand
Human Sacriface, Often many infants are sacfrifaced at once
    For their so called "Gods".

These people Claim themselves te undisputed masters of the
Sea and Our World! After the Conquer Sicily what do you think will be next?
Our own land! Italy our Beloved homeland will be under invasion once again
    By foriegn peoples.
As we Speak they Subdue Spain. Free people who dont deserve to be
Slaves of Carthage are becoming slaves everyday and their children..
Killed for their oh so Glorious gods. They grow a Stronger and stronger hold on Spain every day! We must not just sit by while they become stronger than Rome herself!!

Their Goverment, is like ours true enough, But they are Cruel beyond reason
If a Genaral loses a battle he is crusified for the good of Carthage.. This is not Acceptable at all! Their people are free citizens like ours.. No.. Tey are Slaves with not much Freedom such as ours and yet people still think Carthage is a "Great" Nation.

I am Not Suggesting going to war but Simply look out for their movements and strengths. The people dont need a war like Rome a Carthage right now they have enough troubles in the Day they do not need husbands and sons away again.

Your words smack of propaganda. We will not have these incendiary speeches against people who have given us no Cassus Belli. This is irresponsible, Tribune.

Well then march agents the rebels. Thought we agreed on peace this isn't war its pacification. As for the navy the bill that was passed requested at least 200 strong so I would say that is the proper amount at the moment until such time as a larger fleet is provisioned for.

    Senator Lvcivs Valerivs Scipio speaks:

I agree with most of the senators here: those rebels near Croton should just be snuffed out. If we just ignore them, they will kill innocent traders and civilians.

As for the fleet, we voted on at least 200 triremes. Our economy can support 60 more.

Yes Consul, destroy those rebels as soon as possible. That rabble won't give you much trouble, but still, Bona Fortuna

Ah I think you for correcting me there. still I feel 60 would be unpractical at the moment 20 for now and then more in say 5 years time.

Cato, quit raving about Carthage. They have their hands tied with the Saharans, the Iberians, and the Syracusens. Even IF they landed with a significant force, it would be easy to crush, and Carthage would crumble. On the other hand, Senators, we voted that our consul would head north rather than Sicilia.

We did not vote that our consul would head north. We voted for ten years of peace. Then, after the peace, we will decide what to do.

You claim to not want war with carthage, but then call 'Delenda Carthago Est' at the end of your speech! Do you take us for fools, Tribune Cato?

Although I do agree that a war in the North would be folly...

Noble Cato, allow me to present my views to you. If we begin treating the Carthaginians with suspicion instead of respect, we will eventually drive them to enmity. While that may not result in open warfare, they may be able to damage us politically by isolating us with alliances. I say that until they provoke or cause insult to Rome, they should be treated as friends rather than enemies. Ending a speech with 'Carthage must be destroyed' is a dangerous thing to do. We do not want to force a needless war with one so powerful as Carthage.

    Ave Former Consul,

Yes Delenda est Carthago! is at the end of my speech because when our peace is over Carthage must be Destroyed once it is gone this will open up so many possibilities that you could never imagine possible.

But as the Representation of the People i will not support war with Carthage just a Carefule eye on these peoples. Not war...

As for the other senator that commented me. i will do whatever i want when I please i can say Carthage must be destroyed even though its Dangerous..Are there anyone who Support Carthage with ever bone in his body?! are there any Carthigings here? if so speak now so i can cut you down myseslf.

HOW do you propose that we DESTROY Carthage without a war? Delenda est Carthago means Carthage must be destroyed!

You say one thing and contradict yourself at the same time. Your doublespeak is insulting to say the least!
