Micromanaging vs expanding.

I wonder what ca has in store for when your empire has grown and micromanagement becomes tedious.
The automanage function is ok i guess, but doesnt give you the option to prevent the ai from building certain structures (like farms or ballista range in late era).

As for setting up a template, how different would it be from the current building queue ?

I guess you'd be able to choose to continue down a path of construction for a certain building type.. like after building a barracks, immediately build the upgrade if available.
