    Fitz Salnarville, Duke William's favourite knyghte,
    To noble Edelwarde his life dyd yielde;
    Withe hys tylte launce hee stroke with thilk a myghte,
    The Norman's bowels steemde upon the feeld.
    Old Salnarville beheld hys son lie ded, 235
    Against Erie Edelward his bowe-strynge drewe;
    But Harold at one blowe made tweine his head;
    He dy'd before the poignant arrowe flew.
    So was the hope of all the issue gone,
    And in one battle fell the sire and son

    Wow, I didn't see that one coming, honestly. An extension to India would indeed be a good idea. Otherwise, looks good! (Still early of course). "The time frame extends from the first punic war to the start of the true Empire." Does that mean the Empire is in or will it be a entirely republican Rome game? The date on the screenshots says 474?

    I hope the game will have deep internal policies and intriges. I'm also curious how they'll represent the different Celtic tribes etc.

    Well, of course given the early stages the game is in, you probably can't read too much in to the date, but they could be using a Roman calendar to give it that extra level of immersion. I believe at one point the Romans counted from the founding of Rome, which would mean that 474 was about 279 BC. This seems at least possible.

    Thats right, it does start right before the first punic war, one of the devs stated that the date is Ab Urbe Condita (since the founding of the city). Although I was hoping for a HOI 3, one thing really makes me happy: there's gonna be a character system like the one in Crusader Kings. Now we can hope for a realistic representation of the roman offices and titels. Hopefully with votes etc. IMO the system of scientific advancement needs to be changed, its tottaly unrealistic for ancient times. BTW most of Europe needs to be covered with trees, back then it was primeval forest.

    AWESOME.

    Wow I am amazed beyond belief, i never thought they would make a game like this.

    Map needs to be enlarged IMO.
    Same as RTW map, how much do you want to bet that 90% of it isn't going to be all "rebel" territory?

    I bet this game will be 10 times better than RTW as well. If only they had battles.... if they did CA would cry themselves to sleep every night.

    I don't think there's going to be any info about a map-extension very soon. Anyway Bactria was not independent in 279 bc. Remember the grey death of the east...?

    Maybe a hundred 1-province city states. Uh some greek states in leagues.

    If I were paradox staff i would steal loads of research and gameplay from Europa Barbarorum.

    Well they can do that like in EU3 some moslim kingdom turns into Persia during game Kingdom of Porus+Greeks = Bactria (?)

    P.S. I think they had several plans ,but after 'Empire' announcement decided to move into ancient time .

    Yes, there wont be a faction called "greek cities" i bet each state will be playable. This is going to be good, its one of those games that will be extremely hard if not impossible to disappoint.

    Sounds like they are tying in some Crusader Kings ideas with family members and other characters in as well.

    This game is now my most anticipated game since that which will not be named.

    Anyway Bactria was not independent in 279 bc.
    On EU3 a lot of nations can be formed and revolt, plus I bet it will be like EU3 where you can pick your start date anyways.

    hmmm... a wet dream of mines coming true. But I'd tend to think this map needs way more provinces...
    I'll be following news on this with attention...
