This is the "What did you use to believe in" thread. It's quite obvious that he changed from pacafism before joining the military.

In my early days I believed in Communism acctually. It was so easy to be tricked into believing in equality trough work and all of that. I was about 15 at the time. But then I began to read some history and some books about economy. And I suddenly understood that you can't force people into equality when it comes to economy and worth. People are different and you can't change that...

In my early teens I managed to be both fascist and communist, I no longer remember in what order. In a way I still believe that communism is the perfect world order, though I understand that it could never work in our imperfect world inhabited by us - imperfect humans.

When i was really young, about twelve or so, my friends and I flirted with communism, mostly for fun. The idea of total equality sounds pretty sweet when you don't have a job or pay any bills. Now I am a firm believer in the universal welfare state, and social liberalism, (the scandinavian model), but I am well aware of it's problems, and I know that it propably wouldn't work everywhere.

I should add that as a student without a job, I am exclusively a benefiter, not a contributor to the welfare state.

    Now I'll be idealy social/christian-democrat and anti-neoliberal.

Even tough I admit that Socalism and Fascism are somewhat close ideologies on certain aspect. Mussolini has been a socalist after all.
"There was no sound but that of his shoes and the now senseless singing of birds. Once I thought they sang because everything was right with the world, Robert Neville thought. I know now I was wrong. They sing because they’re feeble-minded.”
