    Default Port of Byzantion

Despite the fact that Byzantion has hardly reached its zenith during the games period but nonetheless is there another way to represent the cities strategic location on the map.

    My suggestion

Move the port to block the passage between black sea and the golden horn, so only the faction in charge of the city can pass through, as was common throughout history, right? Have you guys thought of this already?

I am no modder or anything, but as much as that sounds like a good idea, I kinda doubt that will work with the hard-coding of the Rome

I actually believe that does work. The ship blocks of a square around the port and all shipping that goes through there is blocked...so if the strait is that small all shipping in between the black sea and the rest of greece would be blocked.

The trade would be blocked and so would other navies from passing through.
Who ever controls the port reeps all the benefits from trade?

I don't think so, I think that other factions wouldn't be able to get through strait with navies, and that if they were at war with the faction in control, then the trade would be blocked

This is a good idea, and, if possible, should also be done with the Hellespont (I suppose the cities you could do this with would be Sestos, Abydos or some such). After all, we all know about the Athenian Hellespontophylakes' grip on Black Sea trade.
