    Just install 1.4D.
The difference in size is due to the installer used(more exactly of the compression method used by the installer).

The Vassal system does need to be worked out.
I just started a Byzantine campaign on the HARDER Campaign, VH/VH.

Turn 4, Moors are the largest, Turks are the strongest but if i pay a little price of 2k i get peace...I WAS allied with Hungary thou, not sure if that affects it, but Hungary was low in everything at the time.

    @Luchan

Yeah but they are only offering about 3k for YOU to become a vassal. That would mean that all of your cities would be heavily taxed only to send the money to the Byzantines.

Do me a favor and check to see how much it would cost you to convince them to become the vassal.

Personally, I've noticed that nations are more willing to become a vassal than to accept a ceasefire. This makes no sense since agreeing to become a vassal is like signing up for slavery.

Default Re: I love this MOD therefore...

Hate to rain on any parades, but with only 2 notable exceptions, heavy calvary was the only combatant that mattered 'till the late 14th century. Even when the English whipped the French at Crecy and Agincourte, it was due as much to the poor generalship of the french as it was to longbowmen.

Unless you picked the terrain, showered them with missliles (Longbows and Xbows only, anything else would hardly slow them) the 'gendarmes' rolled right over anything that opposed them.

The only consistant way to deal with heavy calvary was to have your own heavy calvary to take the charge or Landschnek and Swiss pikes. Most pikes are derived from these two. Tightly packed mass and 18 foot spears.

Crossbowmen (especially Italian mercs) could blunt a charge, but not stop it. I agree, it takes away from the game, but its as real as it gets. And its not just the charge that made the mounted man-at-arms the Abrams tank of the middle ages. Mounted or dismounted, a knight clad in plate or quality mail would make minced meat out of nearly any non-pike/halberd foot trooper.

One thing I will say though, heavy calvary should not be so effective against TRUE heavy armored infantry. I say true, meaning Armored Swordsmen, Obudshear, really heavy suckers. The dense formation, mass, armor and armor shreading halderds/poleaxes should make short work of an outnumbered company of gendarmes AFTER the charge has stalled.

PS: The generals are SUPER overpowered. There was litte/no difference in the Generals Entourage and the average Gendarme. Both were made up of nobles and gentry, and more often than not, the entourage was chosen for political connections, no battlefield prowess.

    @Borluc

    It seems i left out something;
I make an offer for THEM to become a vassal. They make a counter offer, pay us 2k and we'll become your vassal.

    Edit: Check this out:

    :O!

IMO: I think the reason for them wanting to become a vassal is because they are at war with every catholic faction. In the first few turns, the freaking medieval U.N (a crap load of diplomats from every catholic factions, makes its way to the MOORS, and offer a Cease Fire (in my game, only England is not at war with them currently). The AI must think, "****, i have 10(?) factions at war with me, The odds of winning are bad so let's make peace." Every other faction must think in a simliar way, since they rush to dipliomacy, SINCE in their computer scrited minds they are alone with no allies and bad odds at war.

You could counter this by giving all factions, excluding the Turks-Moors-Egpty alliance, more money thus making them think they are more powerful and will have the courage to try to go to war.

    Default Darth on 1.1

Seeing as I have A CTD on every patch except 1.1...so I instaled the latest Darth mod on 1.1 and its working fine, but I am just wondering what am I missing playing like this and not on 1.2 or 1.3??

Have you played a short campaign and won?
    Probably that's why.
If this does not work, then you should make a clean install of M2.
Usually for odd errors/crashes you should reinstall M2 and Darth Mod.

You should use 1.2 or 1.3!
Darth Mod was made based on the 1.2 patch. So in order to work properly, you should make a clean install, patch to 1.2 and then install Darth Mod 1.4D.

Please don't open a new thread for every question regarding CTDs!
    Use the bug thread instead!

Delete simply the folders cursors, loading_screen and in the menu folder the sub folder texture and all files except mtw2.lnt and _m2_provincial_campaign_panels.tga. Enjoy your vanilla look.

Thank you! I started the game after doing the above, and have now no mention of the mod running at all. It would be nice if there was an option to have something to show I am using the Darthmod! It just doesn't seem right there is no mention of what seems an excellent mod now! Is it a case of 'Star Wars' or nothing?!

I thought the Star Wars graphics were silly, but really want to repeat it wouldn't have mattered if the mod was crap and I didn't use it again, but the fact is, after just one battle I could see the huge difference!

So congrats on a fantastic mod and please consider doing another loading screen/menu/cursor more fitting with the game!

Since I have played enough turns myself to see how DarthMod is working in the process I have to comment the following:

    CAMPAIGN:

-There is an issue about Darth Vassal system only because money is now easier to give compensations for AI and thus for the vassal. In Vanilla you never had the chance to have vassals unless you have made your rivals to own 1-2 territories and still give them much more to accept. And how this worked? Did you like it?It was worthless. Strong overall countries are now much more capable of threatening other minor and force them to accept to be their client kingdoms. Sometimes not even bordering them. The Byzantines in my game have made 3 vassals up to now and are the strongest Faction. Still they do not own too many territories and their client kingdoms are more like historic dependents of them for a long time just like in History up to now (USA vassals most of the known world... but does not conquer).
The good thing to own a vassal is that you immediatelly get control of its treasury thus creating a super income for 1-2 turns and also have increased trading between the nations. This makes it more worthy to do than simply annihilate the Kingdom. Also in DarthMod the vassals do remain vassals for a long period unless the circumstances disfavour it. A human player may take advantage of it better than AI and that is a handicap but in my opinion this creates a far better challenge to the map (To face giant blocks of allies against you but having the possibility to do the same)

-Overall diplomacy/campaign AI. Those who have played enough turns must have witnessed the things I claim in the Promo of DarthMod. Rational and energetic Diplomacy, Giant well balanced stacks of AI armies, alliance helps (For example in my game Scotland and France allied timely together and attacked simultaneously England from both sides, the the Pope excommunicated Scotland and warned France doing an effort to save England from total destruction...I was playing Spain.)...etc.

    -About Battles:
I think there is not too much to comment here because you must have noticed the another world of gaming balance, and gameplay AI in battles comparing at least to vanilla. Some issues that occur sometimes is the frenzy spearmen chasing of Cavalry but overally I think everything is finalised as I hoped for. Any minor bug is unrelated to the overall CTD-bug free version of this mod so it is up to the evolving DarthMod team members to create other versions of DarthMod.

Just had to state my own findings after a lot of time outside of the playing theater and doing mostly modding.

Darth Mod was made based on the 1.2 patch. So in order to work properly, you should make a clean install, patch to 1.2 and then install Darth Mod 1.4D.

Please don't open a new thread for every question regarding CTDs!
    Use the bug thread instead!

No you didnt understand me. Darth mod is not causing CTD's. I am getting those fecking unspecified ctd's due to instaling 1.2 and 1.3

    I second Darth's comments.
I like the vassal thing now. In vanilla you could not use it. I never got to the point where i could convince a state to becoming my vassal no matter what!

I happend to me twice that France and Scotland allied and started a war against England. And overall the AI is active and is quite resonable in demands/offers.

I have nothing to say about the battles, just this: It is the best(and if you noticed, allot of mods use Darth's battle AI and formations !)

First the pic here is a proposal for solution your problem “…if there was an option to have something to show I am using the Darthmod!”

Convert the jpg into a tga

Make a folder (*DarthMod\Data\loading_screen) and put it in.

(Note: the pic based on the activision game "Little Computer People")

In my opinion “SILLY” is only if people saying, making or doing things without thinking about it.
I promise you all what you see in DarthMod:TLE does not fall under this category “to be simply a silly thing”.
I had the chance to meet the person behind the mod and become acquainted with him.
Today i have a good friend and “Master”.
In my progress of work for the design of the mod i decided finally to make the look of DM:TLE as unusually as the mod and the person behind it.
I agree if you say the mod has very much of SW universe but actually concerns only the alter ego Darth Vader (OK except the background).
Like it or Like it not… but i believe it is better that’s we have here in tw center a large variety of different mods thus find all something which they like.

(IMO DM:TLE has a damn cool looking loadingbar and the only one where the progress of loading makes in addition a sense.)

    Enjoy our work A.U.

Don't know if you are being sarcastic or not. But having Darth Vada and a 26th century (or whatever) space craft as a cursor in a medieval war game is either egotistical as in 'look what I have done!' or what, but is not for me something I want to see when I load a game about the 11th century! But thanks to Argent, I now don't have those silly graphics, so I will just use my brain to know I am playing Darth's mod, because there will be nothing on screen showing I am, and that's a pity.

Argent Usher's loading screen proposal is great!
    I'm still laughting now!!!

Oh...The art work made for DM is really great. The loading bar is absolutly great, like the menu, loading screens. It is a very good job made by A.U. If this does not make you think of Darth Mod then what??? A silly knight with a sword in his hand looking tough? The themes with knights charging or something like that are in most mods Why should DM be another clone out there?
The artwork is very original and it's top quality!
