that will be very helpful for mewith add map_region and map_ground

As you can see the AI places its forts always in the green tiles

Yeah that makes sense if the AI determines them as choke-points.

No thing is everything. Every thing is nothing.

Very helpful find. Apart from anything else it helps keep you focused on the underlying tiles rather than thinking of the map as seamless terrain. Makes it easier to spot problems. Wish I'd known about it before. Great stuff.

Stumbled upon this and I can't believe how useful this command is, and that it has fallen so far down the pages. This has helped me to fix a few annoying issues with my maps, and also helped to improve how the AI handles my layouts.

But, does anyone have an idea of what the landing option is supposed to do? I have tried this on a number of maps and can't see it indicating anything.

Maybe, what good spots there exist for AI to make landing invasions?

One would think, but the entire map is coloured with it, not just coastlines. Starting to think it's just a discarded option of a leftover toggle from RTW.

Try making your coast one of the impassable ground types and see it it still shows up. The reason you are seeing it all over the place (probably) is because most of the coast is valid for landing troops. There are very few places in the vanilla maps that troops cant land though there are some spots in the new world that they cant.

Well, the issue with that is that the setting still shows campaign map models such as dense forest trees and high mountains. I set a strip of both on my map and the coast still shows pink, just with the mountain tips and trees on top.

I figured from that, that the purpose was to just get rid of everything except for impassable terrain, but the setting still shows sparse forest models, which can be landed on.

    I recently realized something:

toggle_terrain frontier and toggle_terrain frontier_defend are used for AI modding, to show where the AI thinks its frontier is and at what point to start using a different set of AI procedures.
