Looking very good.
I don't know where I should put this, but (its annoying when mods miss this out) the king in Norway at the time was Olaf III Haraldsson (son of Harald who died at Stamford Bridge), with Magnus III "Barefoot" as his heir.
They're coming! I'm having a devil of a time getting the Aragon faction up and running. Spent all weekend on it. Norway's not a problem, but I keep getting a nasty CTD with Aragon.
Gigantus seems to have it up and running, so I've apparently forgotten how to mod!
Will make sure to get this right!Cheers!
And now this is how the map will eventually look, once I'm able to properly add these factions. Faction borders are still subject to change, but should look close to this:
Oh, and I've also started some work on units for two of the three new factions I have in mind...debating whether or not to include them in the next release or not. Leaning towards not, as I'd like not to rush them...
Great!!! Well i must say this is the best medieval mod for MII so far - or at least it have its potential![]()
ok, thanx 4 the reply
I realize now that you are not really focusing too much on the East, nice Norway screenies BTW, they'll be a really cool addition. My thoughts were dependent on the use of the Mundus Magnus map anyway, as the Mongol Khanate was not on the map you are using. Thing is, I see a few mods that allow Mongols to be playable by putting them in the Khazar steppes in 1080, which is horribly inaccurate. My suggestion of using MM map would allow them to be playable from the Altai range (N of Tarim basin, IIRC in modern day China) which would be historically accurate as well. the only reason we don't hear from them in Europe before 1210 is the fact that they went after the Chinese first (IIRC they were avenging some insult offered by the Chinese). Since this game is largely a speculative history excercise, what I proposed would not be unreasonable.
If you know of anyone considering making a mod with the East in mind, by all means refer them to this discussion (not trying to lean on anyone whose mods are in relatively advanced developmental stages).
your mod looks to be one that I will be playing soon regardless (in the middle of too many right now to add another)
After several wasted nights, finally managed to get Aragon up and running. Special thanks to gigantus for bearing with me through my temporary(?) lapse in text file editing!
Aragon Starting Position:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Oh, special thanks, too, to Danova of the ORNAMENTUM MOD, for the Aragon Faction Icon!
Cheers!
Looks nice! How long will it take to include the other new factions?
Coming together really well. Have you thought about using tyre_s strat generals for this mod? also would like to see the use of the alternate faction symbols.

An interesting find from others that I recently got around to trying to get to work - the concept of a 'market town'. Basically, subsituting one of the resources for a town/village model to give a more lived-in look to the map.
Example:
A merchant peddling his wares at the market town
The only problem so far is that a battle fought on this tile wouldn't show a town lay-out.
Special thanks to cherryfunk, wilddog for the idea of this! ConstantineVII for patiently explaining how to actually do it!![]()
That is a brilliant concept

Very cool, I love that idea.
we are beautiful
we are doomed
Thanks. Can't take credit for it. Like I mentioned I saw cherryfunk and wilddog mention it in the Workshop. And Constantine VII explained how to do it!
Gonna use the Market Town 'resource' to simulate other cities/towns that we couldn't fit on the map due to province limit. Not gonna flood the map with them. Maybe one or two in each region (e.g. Iberia, British isles, russia, etc.)
try and use them in a way that the roads pass through them, that would be very good, especialy starting towns that are huge/large like the trade hubs whith these situated close by on the roads would look perfect![]()
