Economy:
In times of war, we need to raise taxes. Sorry people. Maybe I can call them something else. :p However, I would want to carefully comb over Government spending to find more million dollar toilet seats. The government is probably spending millions/billions of useless money.

Military:
Build down. We don't need a freaking huge military. We can't tell countries that nobody can have nukes, when we have thousands. Iraq: Withdraw troops slowly. Civil war is probably inevitable, but it was Bush's fault. Try to keep peace, but this is ridiculous.

Healthcare: Prevent frivilious lawsuits. Allow drugs from Canada.

Boarders: Get very strict on illegal immigrants. VERY strict. This is an economy, healthcare, and national security issue. Allow people to legally come to the US. (Did you know there is a fear factor show in mexico... where people compete for a lawyer to help get them into the US?)

End the embargo against cuba, and in fact every other embargo against any other country. Restructure elections (populist vote, no electoral college) , put a cap on election funds. The drinking age does need to come down to 18... how can you tell a kid to die in war for his country, but that he can't drink? Most of the soldiers that die in Iraq are under 21... they never got to legally drink. Eh?

But these two things aren't the federal government's business, and that's why it's obvious you aren't American, Boris. At the same time, it's troubling that candidates these days are pushed to state their positions on these issues and others like them (marriage, education, etc.) that have been traditionally STATE controlled.

Oh, by the way, 17 states haven't banned gay marriage. 17 states have defined marriage as between a man and a woman. I'm shocked and apalled you left out that in your dictatorial reformation of America. Shouldn't we allow polygamy as well? Prostitution is fine, though. People still do it, no use making it illegal.

How?

The border issue is hard to understand unless you have lived in a border state, i.e. California, New Mexico, Arizona, or Texas. Mexicans want DESPERATELY to get into the U.S. They will do ANYTHING to get here, and many die trying. NAFTA is the best solution... but at a heavy cost to the U.S. economy. It eliminates trade barriers in Canada/U.S./Mexico... all in an attempt to help Mexico improve its economy... hopefully this means that people won't need to come here in the future...

Think of it this way Boris... Let's say Morrocans start making small rafts and attempting to cross the Straits of Gibraltar in the THOUSANDS... every day. Can you stop them all? What if a pregnant Morrocan gives birth on Spanish soil... what then? It's a lot more complicated than it seems... but you knew that...

Oh, and I think by burning churches in the U.S. you might have all those "southern hicks" coming after you real quick with their rifles... and they're good shots, so watch it. But does this mean we are now an atheist state like China? So much for freedom!

Withdraw military presence from everywhere? I'm sure you might rethink that one once Yugoslavia breaks into civil war once more... remember, those silly slavs that Western Europe couldn't subdue? My presidancy of the united states of america.

FIrst and only reform. Disband nation, have every state become a nation, disband all military forces except 5,000 soldiers per state, bring everyone back from germany, Iraq, etc.

Lets see for myself I would do the following.

Economy:

I would first of all put into effect a flat tax rate system. These weird progressive tax rates hurt people for being successful by charging more for taxes? Doesnt make sense to me.

Military:

I would bring back military forces from around the world. I would limit my military presence in the UN. I would eliminate all foreign aid. At the same time I would bring back the draft which in my opinion would be a great way to have EVERYONE regardless of specialty (doctor etc) serve with no exceptions even for those going to college.

Border policy:

I would first of all revamp the border rules and if necessary petition for a change in the constitution about how one can become a citizen. In my opinion its sad that immigrants come here pregnant knowing full well that if the child is born on US soil it is a citizen and now said immigrants can reap the social systems for money and education. I would change this completely so it is no longer possible.

Domestic policy:

I would eliminate social programs which have no real value. Use the money instead for things like re-training the workforce for people who were laid off from jobs so they can find another job. Another idea I might consider is that if you are unemployed for over 6 months and below a certain age you are required then to join the military. The idea being to eliminate unemployment.

Hehe lawngnome. My prescidency was largely a jest. I know most of these thigns are unimplementable in the USA, if anywhere. BUt this country needs a swift kick in the nutsack to turn around, and what better than a nice dictatorship to pick it up and put it on its feet.

Socialism is a bad word in USA, and so is gay, so is anything that might give the lower classes soem advantage (national _____ , fill in the blank). Thats why I radicalized it as much as i did, the current state of affairs, from a european point of view, is quite appalling, and quite ironic given you are the richest state in the world, and like 7 on the HDI (human developmen index). You can afford the best weapons for your citizens when you send them out to die, but you cant, get them decent books? somethign is awfully wrong there mate.

About the mexico border, again, jesting. Hell, I got into this country illegally, so im sure as hell not tryign to stop honest hard workign mexicans from taking american jobs

As for states rights. yeah, i started serious and then said , ah, ****** it all, this country "aint got no fixin'" so i went wild and forgot to take that out. Mostly, I dont think the american populace is capable of freedom, they just voted bush and to ban gay mariage for christs sake, i dont trust these people to make their own descicions. But, if they are good, i will leave them be at the end, i will disband my junta, and let them sink into anarchaic bliss. As the President of the good ole U.S of A, I would do the following:

Economy: Raise income tax a lot, tax progressively. The wealthier you are, the more you pay. Keep taxes on businesses and doing business lower, to enable small and medium sized firms to thrive and attract more business + jobs from overseas. Lift trade embargos.

Health Care: Publicize. Use tax payers money to pay for national healthcare. Allow privatized health care and hospitals for those who want it and can afford it.

Military: Introduce conscription for entire adult male population. 1 year of military service + reserve training from time to time. 2 years of civil service (note: for pussies or homos only :p ) Scrap the idiotic missile defence system.

Domestic: legalize. Better Funding for public schools.

Immigration: All illegal immigrants will be deported. Those immigrants who have proven to be counter-productive to society (e.g. repeated criminal behaviour) will be extradited.

Foreign affairs: First of all, I would speak in a civil manner, not like John Wayne in a western. Initiate overhaul of the U.N, start dialogue with E.U member states in a public and showy manner.

Iraq: No idea what to do there, so I will say what President George W. Bush, Dumber, said what won him the election: "We will stay the course."

Misc. Drinking: beer and low-alcoholic drinks to 16, hard liquor to 20. Driving age to 18.

Well, since you are repealing the constitutional amendments in 17 states that define marriage as between a man and a woman (they don't ban gay marriage, kind sir), why not also repeal all of those silly laws that keep men from marrying seven women? Ahh... I see paradise on the horizon.

As far as education goes, some States are better than others. Example: In Illinois, you have to buy your child's textbooks, even in elementary school. In Missouri, gambling is allowed, but is taxed heavily, and every cent of that (including money from the lottery) goes towards education, so education tends to be better in Missouri, a largely rural state.

But, yes, socialism is a bad word in America... at least to 3/4 of the population. We like our capatilism. If it ain't broke, why fix it? Most of the poor in our country weren't even born here, or their parents weren't. It's kind of a downer on our HDI when you have thousands of poor Koreans, Vietnamese, Mexicans, Fillipinos, Hispaniolans, and Cubans trying to enter our country every year. But economic mobility is much greater in our capatilist-pig society, so we got you on that one. If our borders had been sealed in the 50's we would have about 25 million less people (Catholic Mexicans breed like RABBITS), be number 1 on every economic measurement (maybe #2 behind bloody Luxembourg), and have a lot less problems. Of course it is a matter of opinion whether or not allowing people to come here was beneficial or detrimental... I suppose our American 'immigrant spirit' still lives on today... we realize we are a nation of immigrants, and we didn't want to deny others the chance at a life like ours.

In summary, whoever says the poor have no chance in America is a Communist (not really...); they have obviously never been poor in America. And besides, our rich people could still kick your rich people's butts.

When I have some more time, tonight or tomorrow, I will post more on a hypothetical Socialist America... but now it's time to do laundry... so ciao!

My comment was not intended to be racist... it's a fact. Catholic Mexican-Americans have the highest birth-rate out of any group of people in the U.S. Think about it....

Fact: In poorer nations couples have more children, because less are likely to survive.
Fact: Roman Catholics are against most forms of birth control.
Fact: Mexico is largely Roman Catholic and has a large lower class that is desperately poor.
Conclusion: First generation Mexican-Americans will likely have a high birth-rate.

Am I a descendant of Sitting Bull? Hardly. My dad was born in Slovakia, and my mom born in Quebec, a French-Canadian. So I'm the first of my family to be born in America.

I don't remember saying I had a problem with immigrants... I believe I said that immigrants weigh down our economic measures because they come to this country (like my family) penniless.

There is quite a bit of animosity towards Mexicans around these parts (Texas), but I understand why most throw their lives away attempting to enter the U.S. Most of them send every dollar they make back home to their families... I can respect that.

Ok, heres the unlimited power presidency:

State taxes are up to the states.
Federal level is flat tax at 3%.

Disband the Federal reserve and the federal bank and amend the constitution to prevent federal governments from manipulating interest rates, the national currency or any other part of the economy for that matter. The economy is to be completely and totally deregulated.

leave social security, medicare and all welfare programs to the states. If they want welfare and can afford it they can have it.

Disband the electoral system and implement a nation-wide majoritarian vote for federal elections.

Withdraw from Iraq tomorrow. Completely withdraw american armed forces stationed overseas. Completely and unilateraly withdraw from all military alliances. Amend the constitution so that the fed government can make only economic alliances. withdraw from the UN. The government of the united states unaniomously declares non-aggression towards all states on the planet, unless attacked.

Stop federal donations to the states, and in fact push as much as possible from the decision making to the state level. Allow states to disjoin the Union on a state-wide referendum basis.

Constitutionaly separate religion from governance on all levels of government from the county up. Expression of religious beliefs in a public office is to be a federal offence punished by banishment from office.

States have the right to declare marriage to be a union between a hairdrier and a cactus if they want to. Naturally, states have the right to give as much rights to minorities of any kind as they want.

Corporations stop being individuals under the law and cannot enjoy the priviles granted by the constitution to individuals.

In other words, they should carry out JFK's Executive Order 11110, which effectively abolishes the Federal Reserve. EO11110 was never repealed by Congress, so it is in effect still valid, but nobody has enforced its will!
In line with JFK's legacy, they should also abolish the corrupt and amoral CIA (JFK was about to do so), and establish a replacement for it in the line of 'responsible' intelligence gathering and/or intervention. While simultaneously, completely omitting former case-officers or chiefs-of-staff from CIA in the recruiting of the new case-officers and chiefs-of-staff. Thereby ending the 30-year old CIA drug-smuggling operations Amadeus, Pegasus and Watchtower.

Following up the latter, companies in the Stock Exchange should be required to document all their transactions. Today, a man who transacts 25 thousand dollars will come up as a potential launderer of money, and a routine check will be done into it - and you have to account for what the transaction was about. But a stock-holding company is not required to do so. In fact, it's perfectly 'legal' for a company on the stock-exchange to launder vast sums of money. Here is the hypocricy: a smalltime peon is required to be investigated, but not a giant conglomerate stock-holding company, with even greater potential for damage to the country?

NSA should not be able to get vast sums of money for 'black ops' from the defence budget - undocumented use of trillions of dollars should be made more difficult - even impossible. Lack of accountability would be fine if the humans in charge were infallible, but humans are not infallible.

Tax-exempt "charitable" foundations such as WWF, CARE, etc.. should be required to document their transactions, since they are mostly dubious companies under a facade of general good-naturedness. They should especially be responsible for accounting their transactions since they are exempt from taxes.

I think I will agree about the Fed... I believe it was needed way back when; our economy is now grown enough to support itself without federal intervention. Plus, Alan Greenspan is over the hill. He is older than.... anyone. He speaks like the godfather, though... so that is always fun to watch.

Yeah you get the direction - I say abolish tax exemptions for charities altogether. Fed corporate tax is to be symbolic, state taxes are up to the states.

To continue along this line - Government entities are forbidden to issue bonds, or any other scam papers enabling them to manipulate public debt. As I said before, my government will tie its own hands and forbid itself any meddling in the economy whatsoever.

Government deficits are forbidden by the constitution. No money to spend= dont spend. Both fed and state governments are to be sustained by tax only - government borrowing is prohibited by the constitution.

Both State and Federal governments are forbidden to impose any kind of trade tariffs - let the people decide what they want to buy and what price they deem fair to pay for it.

Following that, it is obvious my govrnment will be rather small :smile , and rather weak . Its military powers will extend to defending the heimat in the unlikely event of foreign agression. Following Shigawire's suggestion I will also disband the bloated 'intelligence' services and restrain my government to a minimal information gathering network (if my limited budget allows).

It is also rather likely that several of the states will disjoin the union - good luck to them. My government will not perform an Abraham Lincoln on any state that thinks it knows better.

Finally, in the field of education, I will make sure all and every american child, member of this great union, has as a compulsory lecture Alexis de Tocqueville's 'Democracy in America'.
