Changing from Spears to Swords?

Because I hate the way the Pontic general looks, I've decided to make my own based on a different unit. I've selected the thracian prodromoi model from EB and made all the necessary changes to the skin to make it look like I want.

Now, though, the problem is that the spear still shows up... I alpha channeled out the spear and the face plate, but still the spear shows up instead of the sword.

How do I make it so he uses his sword instead of the spear?

I'm necro'ing this post. . . I just picked up rtw vanilla and this is exactly what I want to do. . . I would like Poeni Infantry to have a sword as primary. Can anyone do this for me?
