About ''Croatian Tribes''

Hello, I just wanted to ask why will medieval Croatia be named ''Croatian Tribes''? Sounds kinda barbaric lol.

Croatia was a kingdom until 1102., then it formed a personal union with the Hungarian Kingdom. Why should it be tribes?

Also if you need any historical info about it, I could help.

They are now called 'Hrvati', Croatian Tribes was an early unofficial name.

and i think that the game takes place in the 8 century not in the 12 century

In 785. ! Than Croatians are still tribes under rule of dux (duke). In 925. Croatia is officially a kingdom.
But Croatia is country that was recognized by Pope John VIII as an independent dukedom under Branimir in 879.
It is important to say that Croatian navy has a pirate function against Saracens and Venice until 830. After that piracy is down and now navy becomes under rule of Croatian king.

Most famous were "neretvanski gusari" ( 650. - 830.) and "omiški gusari" (through 11. and 12. century).
Neretvanski gusari- Pirates from Neretva (Neretva is river on south Croatia known as home of brave and cruel pirates who hated Venetians)
Omiški gusari- Pirates of Omiš (old Croatian city and fort- symbol of honor and patriotism)

The Corsairs of Omis were feared by the most seren republic of Venice.
It was 1444 that Omis finally fell under their rule.
The neighbouring principality of Poljica were independent untill 1806.
With the Venetians help they defeated the Turkish armies in 1530 and 1686.

No, there won't be. The mod has, unfortunately, been declared dead, but even if it (hopefully) gets resurrected, its first versions will have the cropped map which doesn't include the Balkans. If you ever see Croatians (and Romans, and Bulgars etc) in WotN, I presume it would be after a long time and several previous versions (which would be good, since that would mean the mod is alive and kicking).

unfortunately not looking good at all. matko is missing, no posts from him for a quiet long time.

but there still is a mod with Croatia and Serbia, its called Total War Eras.

yes, this is the mod with Croatia,
the maps from 1075 are not perfect but it´s OK.
TOTAL WAR: ERAS
with the latest bugfixes it is working just fine...
