Best faction for each campaign

Mayas for the America's: they can get 30 provs easy (that's on VH/VH). They can churn out troops so fast you can completely swamp the Spanish and English, even on auto. Sacrifice and no ransom, and exit Europeans pretty pronto. Aztec's are too busy with everyone else, by that time you get to them you're just steamrolling North.

Bring lots of archers and heavy infantry, and they're pretty much unstoppable.

Brittania - Norway
I love their units, especially the Sami Axemen, Gotland Footmen and the great multi purpose Viking Raiders.

Crusader - Byzantine Empire
Awesome starting position, you can earn florins like water (84000 in turn 11) + greek firethrowers.

Americas - Apachean Tribes.
Good units with good morale and stamina and once you get gunpowder and mounted apaches you're unstoppable.

Teutonic - The Teutonic Order.

I love their (dismounted) Ritterbrüder. They can kick the enemy around the battlefield with great ease.

So far I've only played as Scotland and the Apaches. Scotland isn't really that fun so far, but I'm thinking Ireland will be sweet. The Apaches is the funnest I've had with Medieval II since i first got the game!

britannia - scotland. i couldnt help myself, and i found it really fun (i decided to invade ireland and wales whilst still at war with norway and england. that went well...)

havent really tried crusades yet...

teutonic - denmark/kalmar union. very good fun just steaming into germany!

americas - the tarascans are really good fun, at the moment i am staeming into the aztecs but allied to everybody else - soon i'll be completely isolated and fighting on all fronts no doubt! new spain is also really good fun, but i got really annoyed by the stop-start building schemes that go on.

same here in exception for my opinion in Brittania Ireland is best i think.

Then I wouldn't suggest apaches for you

Britannia- Wales

good spearmen, good axemen, very good missle, and decent enough cavalry. they really have a very good mix of units. as i remember though, they dont have much of a swordsmen unit, but the heavy shock axemen take care of that. Norway is also good, but a very tricky early game.

Teutonic- Teutonic Order

having a smashmouth army and very low on funds is quite the challenge. dealing with cruisading nobles adds some extra flare as well.

Cruisades- KoJ or PoA because i'm very much a european style player.

so its KoJ when i want 31 flavours of knights or PoA when i want the Blue and Black Attack of numerous infantry.

Americas- Apachi

they r hands down the most fun and compelling. however the total lack of variety of units for half the game(which extends to the other native factions as well) kinda keeps it from being a long term play.

i take it they can only build the buildings responsable for gun people etc once they've fought the spanish?
but do they have an alright list of buildings that they can build straight off? im fine with that, and then getting some extra ones later... its just with the spanish you could only get to a certain level, and then wait a bit. and does the barracks ever become not dependant on a port being present (where i was when i finished i had a whole load of inland provinces training only rubbish people. which was annoying)

You can only recruit cavalry and gunners when you have killed or captured a ceratin number of them I think. I don't konw the number but I guess it is preatty easy to find and even to mod so you can laways recruit them

Just make war with european factions(france is the nearest faction and easy to reach)defeate them in several battles and conquer their cities.Then after some turns you will receive a message that the elders (i think) mastered the usage of guns etc.And after all the tech you steal you will receive a message for the mighty Onde's order(sorry if i don't remember the exact name)
