    Default China

I realize that 18th century Chinese warfare was relatively retarded compared to that of the Europeans and that China was quite isolationist. But still, could China be implemented in a truly meaningful way in to the game, i.e. as a powerful and colonizing faction? If so, how could a Chinese faction realistically counter-weigh the more advanced European powers?

The likelihood of China being in the map is about 5% or less. They would have surely mention something as major as this.

The Chinese could have a special unit called "Kong Fu Action Star", acts much like a sniper, but instead in melee.

There are two ways to turn China into a 18th-century-colonial-power:

    a) HUGE cannon-fodder armies. Armies vast beyond imagination, so big that it doesn't matter how many casualties they suffer in a battle.

    b) A military reform which would introduce European standards in the Chinese army. But there wasn't such thing in the 18th century, so we would have a fantasy-China.

China just seems too huge for the map ... but if India is included so should China ... a lil competition for the one who controls India, even the Indians themselves

i would very much like to see china in Empire:TW. think of the opium wars, qing dynasty etc.

on that note, it'd be great if CA would make a China:TW, or a TW concerning the east asia part of the world. china's had a very long history(origins around the same time as the mayans and egyptians were building thier civilisations.
i know i, and several others i know, would be willing to shell out the $$$ for such a game.
in fact, consider this CA. china has the world's largest pop; alreayd a massive number of chinese play WoW. think about how many chinese would want to play China:TW or something to that effect.you'd make a killing.

I'm sure that they will make Japanese in the game. They were quite acceptive to the Western Cultures. Isolationists like Korea or China might just be unplayable factions that just get conquored.
I would love to conquor the world as my native people, Korea, but I just can't see either China or Korea be of any importance to the set period.

1 Could be done. Add to that they started believing their own hype with regards to all that martial art gumpf we get bombarded with. During the Boxer Rebellion the poor saps were convinced that kung-fu-jujitsu-way-of-the-drunken-monkey mystical powers made them bullet proof

2 From a training point of view, there was actually plenty of training available. I believe Portuguese gunners were used to train and operate some artillery in the 17th century. Plenty of European went to India to train local troops - with varying degrees of success and competence true. Whether China was in a position to undertake a reform in general in the 18th cent is debatable I suppose, history at least tells us they didn't.
