It's so much harder to make money/raise an army in TLD compared to vanilla.

Well, there are several things you can do, in the beginning, just stay at the Brigand fort and do the training and a few arena fights untill you earned some money and a gained a few levels 2 or 3 or so, then go and get Ulfas in Edoras, go back to the Brigand fort and see if you have the money for gear suitable to handle mountain goblins, maybe hire some Rohan youths aswell when you go and pick up Ulfas, then start the Mountain goblin quest. the experience, and money from selling captured gear should help you on your way a bit. Missions give decent amounts of money and don't forget to ask about your wages, every week you get paid

I've found cheating makes this mod a lot more fun.
