    Default Celtic Chieftains preview

    New Celtic Factions Sneak Preview

Roma Surrectum 2.0, which continues to gather steam for a not-too distant release, is going to be making many changes over the current Roma Surrectum.

One of the biggest changes: we will replace the current "Gallic Tribes" faction with one one, not two, but three separate, playable Celtic factions.

The Celts were in many ways the most successful of ancient peoples until Rome invented the modern army and decided to Latinize the planet. From the hills of Iberia to the Alps, from the English Channel to the Balkans, they held sway for centuries, hundreds of powerful tribes gathered into great confederations, constantly pushing against the more civilized lands of the south, and occaisonally bursting through the frontiers in terrifying raids, culminating in their sacks of both Rome and Delphi.

These proud, ferocious people were the bane of Roman and Greek alike, and were the product of a noble and warlike culture. Roma Surrectum 2.0 will do the Celts the justice they deserve by including three separate factions. Not only will this give the player three exciting campaigns to chose from, but it will drastically improve the overall faction balance -- now the civilized nations really will have to struggle to keep back the Celtic hordes!

Below are the Generals of these three new factions. Now, the question is, can anyone guess which three Celtic factions will be in RS2.0, and match them correctly to the Generals below?

It goes without saying that RS Dev team members are not allowed to "guess".

Well, The Arverni (Averni?) has to be one of them because of their influence in the region and because of one of their famous leaders, Vercingetorix. I'd match the last picture with the Arverni.

My second guess would be the Boii since they seem to have been present in many different regions of southern and eastern europe and had warriors fighting under the command of Hannibal against Rome. They were also defeated at Telamon.

Third? Ummm... Helvetii? No, not sure about that one.

    So, what's the verdict people?

You might get a clue if you do a bit of archeological research. One of them becomes a lot more obvious then.

I think that the first guy (the one with a bird on his head) is the one that Alexander made a peace treaty when he went to the Ister (Danube) prior to the destruction of Thebes. Btw, my bet goes to the Auverni, Celtiber and some Balkan Celts

Gallia est omnis divisa in partes tres, quarum unam incolunt Belgae, aliam Aquitani, tertiam qui ipsorum lingua Celtae, nostra Galli appellantur. Hi omnes lingua, institutis, legibus inter se differunt.
Gallos ab Aquitanis Garunna flumen, a Belgis Matrona et Sequana dividit.

I hope one out of three will be "the Belgae tribes", or I'll be reaaaaaaally angry (P.S. Maybe it's not coincidence that the shields of the second one are the same of the Belgae Milnah swordsmen )
Another tribe more to the south, could be the Avernii, but I'll put my money that the third one is the Aedui.
And the first chieftain, maybe a Helvetii

Good luck with the three factions

The first is Brennus or Brennos the Raven King, and I think the tribe was Senones. The second is a Britian celtic faction probably Icenii because of the horned helmet, and Battersea shield, found in the River Thames. The third looks like a Germanic Celt,...Helvetii. :hmmm:

The Gallic world is divided into three parts, generally one Belgae, Aquitani.......speaking Celtic languages. .......language, institutions and legal systems were different.

The Galles of Aquitanis to the Garunna River, and Belgae....to parts of Sequania.....
