    CA Developer Icon Features you want for Empire TW

    What new/improved features will YOU want to see with TWEMPIRES!. Considering its a gunpowder based game based on a new graphics engine do you think that all the previous gundpowder unit bugs will be fixed?

    1. I think that trade and commerce are going to be massive if not central facets of the new game, which may mean hugely expanded trade and treasury options.

    2. the CA announcement said that the map will span from North America all the way through to India. Does this mean the map will also include a substantial ammount of Africa? (i don't remember when the suez canal was created[if it exists in the game egypt is going to be of MAJOR strategic importance]) afterall ships can't sail over land, won't they have to sail all the way down africa(again making the southern tip very strategically important)?

    3. Political systems/governance modes with trade/military/building/public order/recruitment(army and agent) bonuses. If they are going to include 'revolutionaries' as either events or even agents, will the also include counter revolutionaries like the romanticists?

    4. This is EMPIRE total war does this mean the end of 'hold 45 regions' in the imperial campaigns and the begining of 'hold 150 regions' as well as foreign land holdings?

    5. what size land/naval battles are we gonna see? Does this mean im gonna have to substantially upgrade my pc?

    6. Does this mean the end of family members(outside of monarchist factions)and the begging of generals recruitable through a general pool? (say a list of 10 possible candidates that can be handpicked?) During this era many royal family members were made famous ****ing up the war effort by interfering with generals. also if they are gonna keep nobles will they reintroduce land and titles?

    dude the possibilities are endless, to say the least im gonna need a major pc upgrade...

    there are so many features i will like to see the biggest being a clever ai and better diplomacy which they have said will be addressed.

    i hope the naval battles will be amazing and realistic like wil they be affected by weather.

    i would love to see drumers and pipe music for the different regiments that would be ace.

    I want to see men react properly to artillery fire, you know, screaming, losing limbs..etc.

    Losing limbs is a must have, I mean a huge cannonball hitting a man would tear off his arms/legs apart and smash him like a potato.

    Also I would like to see a proper representation of the Ottoman Empire (my favorite at that time) and not like the Islamic factions in M2TW.

    The best thing they could do is to ensure that all the good AI they left behind from Shogun and Medieval is referenced for improving the new game, and that interactions with the AI in terms of trade and diplomacy etc are realistic.

    In short, ensure playability is paramount and don't abandon it to graphics

    Well, they did ackknowledge that they had trouble with military and diplomatic decisions being run by different process in MTW2 and that they want to abolish that. Says nothing about the battle AI which I guess will be as tricky as ever so I actually hope for the best but fear the worst.

    NO MORE "your units are under attack, you must act" etc. announcement! or at least a way to turn it off. ****, its so annoying.

    I'd like to see more precise, specialised diplomatic agreements. Especially when trade is going to be a far more important aspect in the game, trade agreements shouldn't just be trade agreements...

    Better AI for start. And few things that are so obvious that they should have included them by now.

    1. "Fall back" command/button (I mean it is silly that even the most trained and experienced units like the roman legions have to win or face casultaies when trying to disengage. Was not the whole point of the Roman checkered formation: hastati retreat, enemy follows, principes flank?) This command would enable the units to slowly move back while still fighting the enemy.

    2. "Atack ground" for atillery. This is so obvious that they realy should have included it by now. I mean I do not mind the shots flying wildly around but for a catapult to try to track a cav unit moving around the field is silly, this way at least I know that the boulders will be landing some distance away from my own lines. Also you could make kill zones with concetrated barage.

    3. Praxil is abolutely right, some degree of autonomy (selectable) should be included or at least ability to turn off the whining

    4. Ability for diplomats to hire mercenaries (or spies to do the same thing)

    But there is an interesting dilemma, as the article on the PC Gamer website indicates, the Industrial Revolution is an important factor in the game. Since it didn't happen historically in the East, how do you play any of the Eastern factions if you aren't going to get this? The Ottoman Empire was in steady decline throughout the period precisely becasue the European powers managed to overtake it in production capacity, tactics, weaponry etc... All effects of the emerging European Industrial Revolution and because the Ottoman empire was unable/unwilling to engage with the cultural and technological pace of change.

    How will that be modelled? Do you get lots of troops but htye are relatively ineffective?

    Will Britain get the Industrial Revolution first?

    They should add something like constitutions or goverment types.

    They should give us the ability to choose whether to go fully and join the industrial revolution, stay cultural or mix both and create a new unique system.

    They must. A political aspect like the senate in R-TW or the pope in M2-TW for each faction, and more complex, of course.

    That sounds good to me, mixed in with orko's idea about different government types. Oh, wait isn't that Civ?

    Obviously things like improved graphics (goes without saying I imagine) better AI and so on.

    It would be nice if this engine is being made "from scratch" if they could think about redoing the way units in battle work (ie work around the 20 unit cap) or reworking the concept of factions to allow a greater selection (but I doubt it, seems to be focused on major imperial powers)

    One thing I would very much hope for in terms of the battle game is a change in the way routing works: By the 17th Century (in battles between the likes of Britain and France at least) killing or capturing half the enemy's strength was considered a massive victory, gone were the days of one side routing and being ridden down and totally wiped out by the other's cavalry. So hopefully routing will be a little loss common, but in particular routing should be more like "withdraw in as good order as possible" rather than "run like a headless chicken" That factor did a lot to destroy the realism of mods like NTW for me.

    1- AI on the strategic, tactical, and diplomatic level that acts in a competent way. I want the very hard setting to actually be very hard and not because the AI gets a $ bonus but rather because it knows what it is doing.

    2- Logistics of some sort. I really want to see some sort of logistics. With the map including a large part of the world logistics are a must. Mainly so to planing an invasion across the Atlantic ocean or to send an army from Europe to India so be a major undertaking not just 'Well I got a ship loaded with a full stack lets set sail' nonsense we have know.

    3-While not really a feature I want the game to be polished. CA please hunt down those bugs before release, please make sure that every trait and ancillary works, please make sure that every feature works to an acceptable level.

    bare with me think this one will be long cause i'm so excited

    more unit control. individual unit and whole army. like something where you can make a bunch of units move as one forward. also a way of altering fire so they fire in volleys not just sporadically.

    for the overlord aspect (like the Pope, or roman senate) they could use the east india trading company and other companies like it

    adding trains into the mix. use them for troop movement/trade. you don't actually have to enter train but use them like roads except you get much higher movement points while on them. and of course make them scarce but on major routes.

    they should bring in unit banners and make the units more personal by giving them names that we could change/create. pretty much keeping somekind of record of battles they've been in and such. and if unit loses/captures banner then it could effect xp.

    umm.. got more but brain is racing with excitement. i wish i could go into a coma and wake up when the game releases
